Sanya Malhotra, Bobby Deol, and Vikrant Massey-starrer Love Hostel has finally premiered on ZEE5. Directed by Shanker Raman, the film is based on honor killing and revolves around star-crossed lovers Jyoti (Sanya), Amhed aka Ashu (Vikrant), and a cold-blooded murderer named Dagar (Bobby).
Completely in love, Jyoti and Ahmed decide to elope and get married as their families didn't approve of their relationship due to different religions. This decision puts them in danger as Dagar is hired by Jyoti's family to kill her and Ahmed.

As per MensXP's review, Love Hostel makes for an intriguing watch. While the storyline isn't particularly unique, Shanker Raman's direction and the strong performances make it well worth your time. Bobby Deol, especially, has delivered an outstanding performance.
On social media, the film is getting a mixed response. While the majority of social media users have appreciated Love Hostel, its storyline, and performances, others just didn't like the final product. Also, netizens have particularly hailed Bobby's performance as Dagar.
After watching the film, a user tweeted, "Watched #LoveHostel last night, Lord Bobby has killed it with a superlative performance. Sanya & Vikrant too have done a great job. Overall, a decent film".

Another user wrote, "What a terrific follow up to 'Gurgaon' from Shanker Raman. Drains you with its nihilism just like that stunning debut. #LoveHostel"
A third tweet reads, "kya bakwas hai #LoveHostel . Waste of time". Take a look at the reactions here:

#LoveHostel is a film about current (north) India. It's dark, gritty, gruesome, but honest and lays it all bair. It's a punch to the gut and it was definitely a bad idea to watch it after midnight. Kudos to SRK and Red Chillies to put their might behind this ❤️🔥#FilmTwitter

After getting dropped from the Indian Test team last week, Wriddhiman Saha’s international career is almost over.
However, the comments he made after getting dropped from the team have not gone down well with the BCCI top brass and have put him at the loggerheads with the world’s most powerful cricket board.
    View this post on Instagram
Saha’s outburst against Team India head coach Rahul Dravid and the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly could land him in big trouble as the board considers his actions to be in violation of the protocols laid out for the centrally contracted cricketers.
The Indian cricket board hasn’t decided its future course of action whether to issue him a show cause notice or ask him verbally about his stance but the board is upset with Saha for making comments against the head coach, the BCCI chief and the chief selector Chetan Sharma in the media.
    Image
What’s the protocol? Being the senior wicket-keeper who was a constant part of the red-ball team for many years, Saha was placed in Group B last year which entitled him to an annual retainership fee of Rs 3 crore.
The BCCI believes that by publicly announcing his private conversations with Dravid,Ganguly and Sharma, the West Bengal keeper has breached clause 6.3 laid out in the players’ central contract.
    View this post on Instagram
The clause states: “Player shall not make any comments about the game, officials, incidents that happened in the game, use of technology, selection matters or any other matter related to the game which is in opinion of the BCCI is adverse to and /or not in the interest of the game, team or BCCI in any media....”
Even the BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has confirmed that the board is upset with Saha and they might issue him a notice asking what made him go public with his dressing room conversations with coach Dravid.
    View this post on Instagram
He also said that at the moment the board is contemplating its future course of action which will be announced in a “few days”.
“Yes, there is a possibility that BCCI could ask Wriddhiman as to how he spoke on selection matters being a centrally contracted cricketer,” Dhumal told PTI.
    View this post on Instagram
“As far as the president is concerned, he had tried to motivate him. The board might like to know what made him go public with his dressing room conversations with coach Dravid.”
“We haven't yet decided on the matter. We are all busy but a call will be taken in a few days,” he added.
    View this post on Instagram
Apart from his public outburst against two of the most influential figures in Indian cricket, Saha became the talk of the town after he shared screenshots of threat messages he received from a “respected journalist” who had misbehaved with him after he turned down his offer for an exclusive interview.
Everybody had hoped he would reveal the name of the journalist and expose him but he decided against it on the “grounds of humanity” and his “family values”.
    View this post on Instagram
The 37-year-old cricketer’s decision has angered the fans and now they are not surprised with the BCCI coming after him. In fact, some people believe that it was his own doing.
Then, there were fans who firmly believed that it was nothing but a scare tactic deployed by the BCCI so that no other player dares to go against the board in the future.
    View this post on Instagram
Since his India career is already over, people were sure that even if they found him guilty of breaching the contract clause, they don’t have much in their hands to threaten him with.
Anyway he is not going to play for India again. What they can do? Fine him?

    — Cricket Lover (@Cricket26329914) February 25, 2022 The player who had the support of the whole cricket fraternity till last week has become a villain in the eyes of the fans. After he decided not to give the name of the journalist, the supporters abandoned him and left him on his own.

Valimai, directed by H. Vinoth, has finally been released. Featuring Ajith, Huma Qureshi, and Kartikeya Gummakonda in pivotal roles, the film has hit the theatres after getting postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The audience review is finally out as fans, who were eagerly waiting to watch Valimai on the silver screen, have been sharing their reactions on social media.
    View this post on Instagram
Produced by Boney Kapoor under Bayview Projects LLP in collaboration with Zee Studios, the Tamil action-thriller revolves around Arjun, a police officer, who is tasked with tracking down a gang of Outlaw Bikers who have been involved in horrible murders.
Overall, Valimai has been receiving mixed feedback and a section of netizens isn’t too happy with the film. However, fans are hailing the performance of Ajith as a police officer. Viewers have also appreciated the action and bike scenes.

After watching Valimai, a user tweeted, "Personally, I liked #Valimai. I had very very low expectations after watching the trailer and after seeing all the reviews. But yea, it was a good watch".
Another user wrote, "#Valimai is average. Fight scenes & bike scenes are awesome. Whenever film takes off sentiment scenes applied brakes. Last 30 minutes of first half and first 20 minutes of the second half is unstoppable which holds the movie".
Another tweet reads, "Disappointed. Vinoth you are capable of more than this. #valimai"

    — Pulikesi (@_jon_snow_7) February 25, 2022Ajith's dedication and effort is superb though. Everyone did their part good, but somewhere something went wrong.
According to me, it went wrong when they tried to incorporate Amma sentiment into the story which was irrelevant and only made it full cringe mode. #Valimai #Thala
    — Itachi Uchiha (@EyeOfAmaterasu) February 25, 2022For the unversed, Valimai has also been released in Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada languages. Also starring Sumithra and Bani J, the film has all the massy elements including action, drama, and emotions.
On the first day of its release, the movie broke several records and became the highest opener in Tamil Nadu. As per the early trends, Valimai has made 35-37 crore gross in the state.

After the terrific Gurgaon in 2017, I was looking forward to Shanker Raman’s next film interestingly titled Love Hostel. And the icing on the cake was the casting of Bobby Deol, who is in the best phase of his career ever since his resurgence with Class of ‘83 and Aashram.

Well, Love Hostel doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it makes for an intriguing watch. While the story of the film isn’t unique, the execution by Shanker Raman and the outstanding performances make it worth your time.
    © Red Chillies Entertainment
Based on the subject of honour killing, the film is about a cold blooded mercenary named Dagar (Bobby Deol) who is hired by Jyoti’s (Sanya Malhotra) family to kill her and her husband Ashu aka Ahmed (Vikrant Massey).

The screenplay keeps you engrossed right from its opening scene till the end. Even though at times it becomes convenient and displays some lazy writing.
The narrative is brutal and disturbing with a tinge of dark humour. The editing is sharp and pacing is quite good.
The atmosphere created by Raman blends in well with the film’s tone.
However, there are a couple of choices that Shanker has made with his characters that didn't quite make sense. For example, how people in this film behave so casually while their family members or loved ones are being killed.
    © Red Chillies Entertainment
Coming to the performances, Bobby Deol is outstanding. While he has played characters with grey shades in the past, Dagar in Love Hostel is at the extreme end.

It is quite clear that while sketching his character, the filmmaker took a lot of inspiration from Javier Bardem’s Anton Chigurh from No Country for Old Men.
Dagar is like a ghost who doesn’t flinch before going on a killing spree and he kills a lot of people… a lot. However, in a few scenes, he also displays the pain that he has been through. He believes what he is doing is for the betterment of the society. It is his Dharma as he says. But in reality, all he needs is a psychiatrist.
If John Wick was evil, you will get Dagar.
    © Red Chillies Entertainment
Vikrant Massey is a complete natural and performs well. However, the character he plays does nothing to challenge him as an actor. This is the kind of role he can ace at any given day.

Sanya Malhotra once again proves why she is one of the most promising young actresses in the Indian film industry, currently. Even though I had an issue with the way her character is written (read: dumb), Sanya was first rate.
Raj Arjun delivers a fine performance but his character is not fully fleshed out. In fact, in the larger scheme of things, he doesn’t even matter.
    © Red Chillies Entertainment
Overall, Love Hostel is one of the better films to release on OTT in the last two years. It’s entertaining, engaging and a bit disturbing.
