Karan Johar’s first scripted series The Fame Game also marks Madhuri Dixit’s OTT debut and her reunion with Sanjay Kapoor after 25 years.
To be honest, I didn’t have much hope from the show after its trailer had failed to entice me. So, I went in with low expectations and still ended up being disappointed.
Created by Sri Rao who also wrote the 2016 dud Baar Baar Dekho, there is a lot that goes wrong with The Fame Game, right from its slow pacing to unlikeable characters, some poorly executed scenes to surface level emotions.
    © Netflix
The show is about Anamika Anand (Madhuri Dixit) who is a Bollywood superstar who lives with her husband Nikhil More (Sanjay Kapoor), mother (Suhasini Mulay) and two kids (Musskkan Jaferi & Lakshvir Saran).

She has a hit on-screen pairing with superstar Manish Khanna (Manav Kaul) who was also her former lover.
One day, Anamika goes missing leading to a police investigation that reveals the true faces of people around her including her family members.
Considering the show is backed by Karan Johar, the least one would expect is that it will get the “Bollywood” part right but the show disappoints even on that front.
Initially we are told multiple times how Anamika is the country's biggest superstar and Manish Khanna is also a superstar. But, later in the episodes, she is portrayed as a has been and so is Manish Khanna.

There is one character in the show who somehow gets easy access to a film studio and even a leading film actress’ house and vanity van without anyone noticing. He goes in and out of restricted areas with utmost ease.

In one scene, Manish Khanna talks about being lonely despite being a superstar and makers later attempt to make us feel sorry for Anamika’s character but it just doesn’t happen.
The emotions displayed in the show are very surface level and you find yourself not caring at all for these characters.
In fact, barring Madhuri’s Anamika & Manav’s Manish to an extent, there is not a single character that is likeable.

Coming to the performances, Madhuri Dixit dazzles and still holds the screen like no other. Unfortunately, the show isn't worthy of her talent and screen presence.

Sanjay Kapoor plays a complex role and aces it. Manav Kaul has looked his best as a superstar and shares a good chemistry with Madhuri Dixit.
Muskkaan Jaferi & Lakshvir Saran are both first rate and so is Gagan Arora. But their characters are the worst of the lot. I simply didn’t care for either of them.
Rajshri Deshpande who is generally good falters here big time. Her one-note performance leaves a lot to be desired.
The show is helmed by Karishma Kohli and Bejoy Nambiar and their execution is quite juvenile at times.
The show only becomes interesting when the investigation is on. Makers should’ve really cut down on the endless & often boring flashbacks and treated it as an investigative drama. The similar problem I found in the recently released The Great Indian Murder.

Overall, The Fame Game doesn’t do justice to Madhuri Dixit’s talent. The show fails to engage from the get-go.

Rohit Sharma played a quick-fire knock of 44 runs in the T20I series opener between India and Sri Lanka in Lucknow on Thursday and in the process, he went past Martin Guptill and Virat Kohli to become the leading run scorer in the shortest format of the game. After his fine knock, Rohit now has 3,307 runs in T20Is while Guptill is at second place with 3,299 runs next to his name. Former India skipper Kohli is at third spot with 3,296 runs.
Rohit's knock along with a special innings from Ishan Kishan helped India post a huge total after being sent into bat by Sri Lanka in the T20I series opener. The target of 200 proved to be too much for the visitors as they lost the match by 62 runs
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was quick to highlight the achievement by their skipper Rohit and posted a graphic on Twitter, congratulating the opening batter for the milestone.

"Milestone - Captain @ImRo45 now sits atop the leading run-scorer in T20Is list," the tweet read.
There has been a tussle going on for the top run-getter spot in T20Is for a long time now and almost after every series that India play, the top spot shuffles between Kohli and Rohit.
    MOST RUN IN T20Is:

    3307 - Rohit Sharma
    3299 - Martin Guptill
    3296 - Virat Kohli

BCCI's praise of Rohit did not sit well with Virat Kohli fans as they took a dig at the India captain and tried to downplay the achievement.
Let him enjoy few days until the real king arrives!

    — Mrityunjoy Mazumdar KKR (@Mrityunjoy_offl) February 24, 2022Kohli along with Rishabh Pant were rested from the final T20I against the West Indies and the subsequent three-match series against Sri Lanka by the BCCI.
Both players will return to the India bio-bubble ahead of the two-Tests against Sri Lanka. If Kohli plays the first match in Mohali, it will be his 100th Test for the country. He will become only the 12th Indian to play 100 Test matches for India.
BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that India will face Sri Lanka in a pink-ball Test in Bengaluru

The game is likely to be Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match

Out of the top three run-getters in T20Is, Virat has taken the least number of innings to go past the 3,200-run mark. Another interesting bit is that both Rohit and Guptill have scored multiple centuries while Kohli is yet to reach the three-figure mark in T20 internationals.

Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, Team India has achieved some great results in the last few weeks. After registering a clean sweep over the West Indies in both the limited-overs formats, the Men In Blue have now turned their attention to the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
    A 56 ball 89 from @ishankishan51 followed by a 57* off 28 from @ShreyasIyer15 propels #TeamIndia to a formidable total of 199/2 on the board.

The Rohit Sharma-led side began the three-match series with a thumping 62-run victory. Skipper Rohit, his opening partner Ishan Kishan, and middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer were the star performers with the bat as the hosts posted a mammoth total batting first.
That's that from the 1st T20I.#TeamIndia win by 62 runs and go 1-0 up in the three-match series.

Throughout the match, the fans loved the strokeplay of all three batters but there was one peculiar thing that caught the attention of the Indian supporters.
Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was making a comeback after a long time, was prompted up the batting order to bat at number four position, ahead of someone like Sanju Samson and even Venkatesh Iyer, who had grabbed the limelight with his all-round performances in the previous series.

When the southpaw came into bat, the hosts were on the ascendency and many thought it was just an experiment, nothing more than that.

However, Rohit’s comments at the post match presentation presented a completely different picture. Speaking about the move, the skipper said that it was a well thought-out decision and he wanted him to bat higher up the order.

Not just that, the 34-year-old leader also said that it wasn’t a one-off move and fans would see this happening in the many more games in the build-up to the T20 World Cup in Australia.

“Very happy with Jadeja's return. We want more from him that is why we asked him to bat higher. You will see that happening more and more in the games that he plays for India. I want him to bat up the order more,” said the India captain at the post-match presentation.

Praising Jadeja’s batting skills, Rohit said that the southpaw has improved a lot as a batter and he is “very clear” with his game plan regarding him, especially in white-ball cricket.

“He is a very improved batter, so we will try and see if we can promote him going forward. We are very clear with what we want to achieve with him in white-ball cricket,” he added.

Fans, however, were not too pleased with Rohit’s announcement and they expressed their frustration on the micro-blogging site.
Many argued that India’s already has an intense competition going on for a middle-order spot, with Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer competing against each other.

Promoting Jadeja would only create more selection headaches for the team management rather than solving them. Hence, he should be confined to finishing the games, batting at either six or seven.

    Please donot **** up Ro
After so many years of struggle finally he is a beast in LOIs in batting in the death. Please keep him at 7 and let him play according to that position
    — L.A. (@YUPTHEAUGUSTGUY) February 24, 2022If I see Jadeja come up the order during the World Cup this year in AUS. I’m gonna stop watching cricket
    — Kane Basu (@notacricketfan) February 24, 2022 pic.twitter.com/jrCzppPOkh
    — Harminder (@21harminder) February 25, 2022Just to give game time then fine..but let him play as finisher ...we have enough talent in middle
    — Sandy Sandeep (@imsandy466) February 24, 2022Leave him as finisher . If you promote him up the order who will be your finisher? Venkatesh Iyer?? Definitely not
    — Bhavesh Sv (@BSV57) February 24, 2022Wrong decision toh batsman like venki, Hooda, Sanju, sky, pant udhar Makhi marenge dugout mein Beth kar
    — Riki Bains (@bainsriki) February 24, 2022India don’t have enough experience lower down the order and the Men In Blue could benefit immensely by assigning the finisher’s role to a season campaigner like Jadeja.
