The Bhatt clan is a family of talented individuals who have been in the industry for a very long time. Talking about Mahesh Bhatt himself, he’s been a part of many controversies and emerged out with sheer confidence. He’s known to never mince his words or his opinions and is also a proud father when it comes to posing with his daughters. However, many fans have often observed the absence of his son and Pooja Bhatt’s brother, Rahul Bhatt from their social media presence.

The father-son duo shares a strained relationship and in an explicit interview with TOI, Rahul had spilled the beans back in 2012 when his book had come out. Talking about how he was never treated like a son and the absence he felt while growing up, he had used the word ‘super bastard’.

“My father Mahesh Bhatt never treated me like his own child. It's the raw uncut truth about my relationship with my father. Perhaps if Mr Mahesh Bhatt had been a father to me I wouldn't have gotten into the friendship with Headley. My childhood insecurities, the lack of a father-figure in my growing years were lacunas in my life that Mr Headley used to win over my confidence. I was vulnerable. I had no father to guide me in my growing years," he said.
"I maintain that my father has always been indifferent to me. He has always treated me like a bastard. I felt like Andy Garcia in The Godfather 3,” he added.

Rahul’s book Headley & I, written by journalist S. Hussain Zaidi explores the friendship between Mahesh Bhatt's son and LeT operative David Coleman Headley. During his interview with Subhash K Jha, he had confessed that the book was not about his deceitful friendship, but also about his estranged father.

2020 was a year that turned things for Sonu Sood as he turned the fate for so many other people. When the pandemic hit the world, Sonu emerged as a real-life hero after he helped people with financial aid, building homes and even helped many get oxygen tanks on time as Covid-19 turned deadly for India. His helpline continues to help everyone in need.
However, like the saying goes, ‘good things come to good people’, Sonu Sood also emerged a reel hero in a new light. In many interviews, he mentioned how filmmakers approached him for better and bigger roles now after his philanthropic ways touched the hearts of millions.
Talking about his experiences of working with big stars like Chiranjeevi, he shared an interesting story in one such interview. During the shoot of his film Acharya, he explained how megastar Chiranjeevi once refused to hit him on screen and the reason was very interesting.

“We were doing an action sequence and Chiranjeevi sir said, ‘You being in the film is a big problem for us because I can’t hit you in the action scene’. He exclaimed that the star felt that if he hits Sonu on screen, then people will curse him. “There was another sequence where he was placing his feet on me but that too was reshot,” he added.

Apparently, other filmmakers have also altered the script of some movies after this paradigm shift in Sonu Sood’s heroic image. Well, he deserves all that love and respect!

Most Indian parents, who have this unparalleled entitlement on their kids, prove time and again that they are the real gangsta in the house. Well, not just their house, any house you’re living in until they’re alive. Many believe that they let their boys do whatever they want (hello, male privilege) but some men would like to disagree.

Desi parents are strict, even the cool ones and this is why we all have some secrets hidden from our parents.

But while some rules might be different for sons and daughters, men raised by desi parents have confessed to hiding the most basic and trivial things about their life because ‘abba nahi manenge’ or ‘nahi samjhenge’ to be more precise.

Men on a Reddit thread recently discussed things they hesitate in sharing with their parents and some of these are really surprising.

    1. Pursuing Higher Education In 30s “That I'm going for my masters at 31. Though I'm married and childless as of now. Can't be a secret for too long now.” –Goonerman420

    2. Being Vocal About Political Opinions On Social Media“That I write (or have written in the past) stuff on social media that could land me in trouble, legal or otherwise. My parents learned that I drink, learned that I eat meat and transitioned to being on board all of those ideas. They just shouldn’t know that when they see someone being beaten by neta’s chamche or cops for a social media post, it could have been me.” –LampardFanAlways
    3. Spending Habits“How much I make, how much I spend and how much I eat outside.”
    4. About Sexuality“That I'm gay”

    5. Going On A Solo Trip"That I'm going to get a promotion and my salary would increase... That I'm going on a solo trip next week."
    6. Relationships & Mental Health "Everything personal. Relationship, Spending habits and Especially issues with mental health because they never get it."
    7. Having Alcohol “I've had a beer. I can tell that to my dad but my mom will get the person who bought me beer into trouble. And I haven't told that a girl hit on me in school.”

Some of these are common and relatable. I mean, who in their sane mind would tell their conservative parents that they drink, smoke or have an active *** life.

However, what’s surprising is that these men, fully grown adults (married even) cannot come clean about them getting into a college at the age of 30 or tell them they are going on a solo trip.

For those who think men enjoy gender privilege in India, this thread is proof that even the sons keep their love life, career, salary and travelling habits a secret from their parents.
