Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead roles, is among the most-awaited films of 2022. The official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' Hollywood classic Forrest Gump, the movie has been making headlines ever since its announcement. The film, directed by Advait Chandan, will see Aamir playing the role of a Sikh guy and will span over five decades.

Laal Singh Chaddha was all set to clash with Yash-starrer KGF 2 and fans were eagerly waiting to witness the box office battle. However, the makers of Aamir Khan's film have pushed the release date once again. Yes, you read that right! Fans now have to wait a little longer to see the superstar back on the silver screen.

Releasing an official statement on the Instagram handle of Aamir Khan Productions, the makers have announced that the much-hyped film will now hit the theatres on August 11. The statement reads, "This is to announce that our film, Laal Singh Chaddha, will not be releasing on 14th April as planned.  This is because we are unable to complete the film in time. The film will now be releasing on 11 Aug 2022 in theatres worldwide. We would like to thank Mr Bhushan Kumar, T Series and Om Raut and the entire team of Adipurush from the bottom of our hearts".
For the unversed, Prabhas-starrer Adipurush was slated to hit the big screens during the Independence Day weekend, however, the film's makers have shifted their release for Laal Singh Chaddha. Revealing the same, the statement further read, "We would like to thank them for being so helpful and understanding, and for shifting the release date of their much awaited, Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan, so that Laal Singh Chaddha can come on 11 Aug 2022."

A user wrote, "3 saal se aisa kounsa flim bana rahe ho joh time pe ban hi nhi rahi hai". Another Instagram user commented, "Power of KGF (fire emoji)". Here are the reactions:

The announcement about Shaktimaan making a comeback has left the fans in a frenzy. While the “People’s Superhero” is making a comeback, this time it will be for the big screen and not TV.
Moreover, the OG Shaktimaan Mukesh Khanna will be replaced and the makers have claimed that a major superstar will be taking his place.
    © Sony Pictures
As for Mukesh Khanna, he will be the co-producer of the planned trilogy in association with Sony Pictures.

Ever since the announcement was made, there have been several discussions on social media about which superstar can be a perfect choice to take over the mantle of the desi superhero.
Names like Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Ajay Devgn etc are being thrown around by fans.
While we still don’t know which superstar will they select to play the role of Shaktimaan, we know for sure the three superstars that won’t be playing it.
    © Bheeshm International
Back in 2013, while promoting the 75-minute telefilm titled Hamaara Hero Shaktimaan, Mukesh Khanna talked about the legacy of Shaktimaan and rejected Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan to play the superhero character. He further named the only actor whom he thinks is perfect for the role - himself.

He had said, “I can't make Akshay Kumar Shaktimaan, I can't let Ajay Devgn play Shaktimaan. They are good actors. I can't even let Shah Rukh Khan play Shaktimaan because they don't have the image that I have.”
He further added, “So I have to do this (play Shaktimaan) and I would say that I have that audacity to play Shaktimaan again because there was nobody before Mukesh Khanna.”
    Watch the video below:

Around a decade later, Mukesh Khanna has changed his stance that only he can be Shaktimaan. Soon, a new lead actor will be announced to take the legacy of Shaktimaan forward. We just hope, Mukesh Khanna also gets to play a role in the trilogy just for nostalgia.
While Shaktimaan is considered India’s first superhero, at the promotional event, Mukesh Khanna was also asked about his views on other superheroes in Bollywood like Krrish & Ra.One (G.One).

    © Red Chillies Entertainment
He said, “Krrish is not a superhero. He has just saved his father, now he can become a superhero when he is saving the whole world (in Krrish 3). Ra.One is definitely not a superhero. I am sorry, maybe Shah Rukh might feel bad, but Ra.One is not a superhero.”
He further added, “You can call Ra.One, Terminator, a good film on special effects. But sorry to say Ra.One is not a superhero.”

Virat Kohli went through one of his worst phases in international cricket as he managed to score only 26 runs in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against the West Indies at home.
Kohli has failed to reach the three-figure mark in over two years but he was getting scores in excess of 50 against quality opposition and then to see him fail against the inexperienced West Indies bowling attack was a hard pill to swallow for many.
Kohli will be looking to turn things around in the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies and along with the backing of his fans, the former India captain has the full support of the new skipper Rohit Sharma.
Virat Kohli in great mental space, he will be fine: Rohit Sharma

On the eve of the first T20I in Kolkata, Rohit urged the media to not talk too much about Kohli's form and give him some space. Rohit said Kohli has been in the international circuit for over a decade and knows how to go through any rough patch.
"If you guys can keep quiet for a while, I think he'll be alright. We don't need to do too much talking from your side, then everything will be taken care of. He is in a great mental space from whatever I see of him. He has been part of this international team for more than a decade. If someone has spent that much time in international cricket, they know how to handle the pressure situations, the environment, everything. It all starts from you guys. If you guys can keep it quiet for a bit, then everything will fall into place," Rohit said during a pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

    — Kaygee18 (@Kaygee1803) February 15, 2022Absolutely. The current coach of Indian cricket team has played more cricket than any of the media persons and is the best person to judge Kohli's performance. When he's satisfied, media has no business to write Kohli off.
    — Deb_Jai_Hind (@Protagonist_Deb) February 15, 2022Don't mess with Rohit Especially Media people ... during Press Conference
    — Ashok M (@Ashok_cric) February 15, 2022Rohit had laughed off concerns over Kohli's form after the ODI series. India whitewashed the West Indies in the ODI series but lack of runs from Kohli's bat raised a few eyebrows. Addressing the media after the series win, Rohit said there is nothing wrong with Kohli's form, he scored runs in South Africa and will come back stronger.
India will take on West Indies in a three-match T20I series before hosting Sri Lanka for two Tests and three T20Is.

In case you missed it, Shakun Batra’s Gehraiyaan has people making a lot of noise around town.
Starring Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi, the Dharma Productions film was released with a lot of expectations considering the hype that the trailer had built.
Many viewers have commended the film for boldly showing the realities of infidelity in modern relationships, while on the other hand, the film has also been panned massively by cinema aficionados, saying that the whole movie is much ado about nothing.
    © Prime Video
These critics have been having a grand time birthing memes and reactions on Gehraiyaan - from the apparently excessive usage of the word ‘f*ck’ to the incessant kissing scenes littering the film, and of course, troll magnet Ananya Panday’s performances as well - nothing has been spared by the citizens of the internet.

Going by the sheer passion with which film is being criticized we’re led to believe that it’s the latest viral trend.
In a major faux pas, the official handle of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions accidentally reposted a meme that was trashing the film, on their Instagram stories.
Now, it could either be an extremely audacious and bold move on the production company’s part or it could just be the case of gross oversight by an unpaid intern.

    — Indian Celebrities Doing Drunk Posts (@cringeindian) February 13, 2022
The negative review read, “The only Gehraiyaan after watching Gehraiyaan are the ones in my brain because of all the brain damage that movie gave me.”

Naturally, the admin of the account soon realized their folly and swiftly deleted the story. But it was too little too late, for the damage had already been done. As they say, what’s on the internet forever stays on the internet.
Certain eagle-eyed trolls managed to take screengrabs before the story was deleted by the account, plastering this mistake across the internet.
Twitter user ‘Indian Celebrities Doing Drunk Posts’ being one of the folks to have caught the mistake shared the post on their Twitter account, which has managed to get thousands of likes. One of the commenters on the post even shared screenshots of the user who had left the scathing review in the first place. He said, “To the intern who’s getting fired because of my tweet I’m sorry haha”

While Gehraiyaan has gone on to become Karan Johar & Dharma Production's 4th straight OTT hit, they might need to look into saving face after this mishap.
This film seems to be getting more eyeballs from negative publicity than anything else.

What Gehraaiyan managed to do pre-release, Badhaai Do did post-release. We're talking about audience engagement and excitement around the movie. While everyone was expecting Badhaai Do to be one more 'comic relief ridden half-hearted tackler of a sensitive issue' flick, it comfortably managed to overdeliver, to everyone's pleasant surprise.
    View this post on Instagram
Since Badhaai Do was already armed with a stellar cast that included powerhouses like Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, and Sheeba Chaddha, no one had any doubts about the 'acting' bit. However, everyone did expect it to end up in the same pit that multiple other 'queer' movies ended up in Bollywood - a messed up 'khichdi' that's the result of too many deviations and trying to do too much 'to be out of the box' - like Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, to name a few. Surprisingly, it manages to swerve past those flaws, ending up as an extremely heartwarming, realistic movie about people who happen to be from the LGBTQ community.
    View this post on Instagram
However, because we're discussing such a tricky topic as the portrayal of LGBTQ community in commercial Bollywood movies, we wanted to get an opinion straight from the horse's mouth. So, we spoke with 5 gay men who are hardcore Bollywood fans, and have watched Badhaai Do, along with other movies that deal with the LGBTQ community. Here is what they had to say.
    1. "I was pleasantly surprised. The trailer was okay, but I've been disappointed way too many times, so I wasn't expecting much. But I exited the theater with a big smile instead of being annoyed, as I usually end up doing after watching a Bollywood movie that tried to tackle LGBTQ characters. The last few have been disasters. The best thing about this movie is that it managed to keep things extremely real, extremely grounded - and not for a moment did it get carried away and include overly theatrical situations just for the sake of 'cinematic liberty' or 'comic relief'. I felt what they felt, and I've been where they have been. This in itself is a huge achievement, because till now, LGBTQ characters in Bollywood movies were looked at through some sort of a weird, distorted lens that didn't have much to do with reality." - Yash, 33

    2. "It was so damn refreshing! I'll tell you why. There was no unnecessary 'gyaan pelna', no unnecessary preaching that most gay movies in Bollywood are guilty of. It was a normal story with normal people in it, from normal middle class families. I'm using the word 'normal' because that's exactly what gay people are! They're just people around you that you perhaps interact with in your daily life. We have our own struggles, own issues - and not everything in our lives starts and ends with 'being gay'. This movie brings that up in a way which is very subtle, and points at the specific unfortunate problems that 'being LGBTQ' in this country entails, legally and socially. They handled it beautifully." - Zohaib, 29

    3. "The best thing about the movie is that it doesn't suffer from a saviour complex. I remember watching Shubh Mangal..., and cringing hard because of this very reason. That scene with a shirtless Ayushmann on a rooftop with a pride flag as a cape, being tone deaf despite having a damn loudspeaker? What on earth were they thinking? Yes, it's fictitious but that was ridiculous! What gay man has ever done that in their life? Do you even know anyone who knows anyone who has done this buffoonery in real life? And then kissed their boyfriend in the middle of a crowd during a desi function? I'm sorry, if you show bullsh*t like this in the name of 'cinematic liberty', the general perception of gays being weirdos is never going to die down - instead the reverse will happen. This movie had none of that. It was mature, well done, and had its priorities set at the right place." - Kabir, 31

    4. "One compliment for the movie? Relatable AF. It's very hush hush outside the community but most gay people know at least one gay cop, who's just like Rajkummar in the movie - tough on the exterior but silently suffering inside the system, more helpless than the criminals that they corner. We all have been in long distance relationships that ended horribly, we all have dealt with multiple heartbreaks, and we all have also found love unexpectedly in places we never thought we would - everything has been depicted in the movie so organically, it felt like discussing life with a friend." - Chirag, 35
    View this post on Instagram
    5. "It doesn't try too hard, but that's exactly how it has achieved a lot! The casting was perfect. Look at Rimjhim - for the first time, a person from the North East has played a North-Easterner, and has been given as much screen time as the leads. Chum Darang as Rimjhim is a delight, and so is Deepak Arora as Kabir, Rajkummar's long distance boyfriend with quite a few red flags. Gulshan Devaiah as the gay lawyer is perfect, and for a change, he is not trying to 'change the system' like any other film would have portrayed! The movie is so realistic, it's just a slice of life. From Shardul slapping his boyfriend to Sumi's doting father breaking down in front of her while saying 'Mere ghar hi kyun?', or a drunken Shardul falling down on the floor while saying 'Main hoon Homo-cop!' to later crying like a helpless child on his mother's shoulder after coming out to her - every scene in this movie oscillates from heartbreaking to heartwarming. I cried my eyes out. Please change my name in the article lol." - Neil, 24
Looks like Bollywood has finally learned how to do it, eh? Take a bow, Team Badhaai Do!
*Some names have been changed on request.

One thing they are more excited about is their wedding invite. With just over a month left in the wedding, the invite for their special ceremony has created a lot of buzz on social media because of the language it is imprinted in.

Maxwell’s soon-to-be-wife is an Australian citizen of Indian origin and many were wondering what their marriage would look like and the invite that is doing rounds on social media has answered that.

According to actress Kasturi Shankar, the invite that has gone viral on social media is a traditional ‘Tamil Muhurtam Patrikai’ which suggests that their marriage will take place as per Tamil Brahmin traditions.
“Glenn Maxwell marrying Vini Raman. Going by the cute traditional Tamil muhurta patrikai, we'd  bet there may likely be a TamBram ceremony... Will there be a white gown wedding too?

The Indian fans are excited after knowing that their wedding will follow Hindu traditions but those who follow the couple on social networking sites aren’t that surprised.

That’s because their engagement ceremony was done in proper Indian rituals and while sharing the pictures from the function, Vini had made it clear that they would tie the knot in a grrand Indian wedding.

In the upcoming edition, he will be seen playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who had retained him alongside Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Last year, he was one of the key contributors to RCB’s success as they finished in the top half of the points table and made it to the playoffs. The Bengaluru-based outfit fell short in the knockout round last year.
