Regret is one of the heaviest feelings to carry, in my opinion, after guilt, of course.
And while guilt comes after having done what you shouldn’t have, regret is more of a feeling that arises when you don’t do something you should have. Like ‘invest in the pitch of Kamlesh Nanasaheb’, in the words of Namita Thapar.
Kamlesh Nanasaheb who got famously known as 'Jugaadu Kamlesh' on the show Shark Tank India, came from a modest background, but with dreams as big as he could dream of.
Pitching a solution for farmers’ agricultural woes, Jugaadu Kamlesh was asking for funding for a pesticide spray solution.
© Sony Pictures Television
Low on formal education and capital, this was his one shot to success and the Lenskart co-founder gave it to him when no one else did. Peyush Bansal chose to invest in his idea, offering Kamlesh a deal for Rs 10 lakhs for 40% equity and 20 lakhs in debt for his business venture.
Today, weeks later as the show has come to an end and all the judges reflect upon the investments they have (and haven’t) made, Emcure Pharmaceuticals’s executive director Namita Thapar shares one of her biggest regrets.
© Namita Thapar
In a recent write-up, Namita Thapar shared just how much she ended up investing during the show.
She said, “I saw around 170 pitches and invested ₹10 crore in 25 companies that touched my heart. I invested ₹7 crore during the show and ₹3 crore post the show in deals I had lost out on and in a few existing deals to increase my stake.”
Elaborating further in a piece that was published on YourStory, Namita shared, “As future leaders we need to champion not just founders who can scale and make money for us but also those who have tremendous potential, are working on a real problem but don’t have the right mentorship to gain traction in their business. Jugaadu Kamlesh and Pandurang of Agro Tourism were both Maharashtrian farmers out to solve real problems but due to lack of right guidance hadn’t made sales.”
अब पछताए होत क्या, जब चिड़िया चुग गयी खेत
— 🅷ΐmสnshu Ǥahสrสηส Kulshresthส (@ihimanshu_) February 9, 2022
And that’s when her biggest regret came in. “Leaders like me need to be bold, back such founders and ensure they become a success so that entrepreneurship doesn’t just become the dream of the ones with the right education and resources but even of the common man. This is one of our core responsibilities as business leaders who have been blessed with power and privilege, who people look up to... and not investing in Kamlesh and Pandurang remain my biggest regrets at Shark Tank India.”
Great read! I think Kamlesh and Shri Pandurang ji got the exposure they needed. Chhodo kal ki baatein ..Don't regret Namita ji.
— Abhi (@abhishekyel) February 8, 2022#NamitaThapar says she invested Rs 10 crore on #SharkTankIndia, reveals she ‘regrets’ not backing Jugaadu Kamleshhttps://t.co/RVlS8Oz4bT
— Indian Express Entertainment (@ieEntertainment) February 9, 2022Jugaadu Kamlesh’s pitch was one of the most liked and hailed pitches on the show that won millions of hearts all because of the earnest intentions that he presented it with.
And while back then, no one apart from Peyush Bansal stepped up, it is somewhat heartening to know that other sharks like Namita Thapar do look at it as a missed opportunity.

Aditya Pancholi, who often makes headlines for wrong reasons, is back in the limelight for yet another controversy as film producer Sam Fernandes has filed a case against the actor. The producer has accused Aditya of allegedly abusing, assaulting, and threatening him in a hotel. According to reports, Sam has lodged the complaint at Mumbai's Juhu police station.

After Sam's accusations, Aditya Pancholi too has filed a cross-complaint against the producer in the matter. Confirming the same, Mumbai Police told ANI, "Film producer Sam Fernandes has lodged a complaint at Mumbai's Juhu police station against actor Aditya Pancholi for allegedly abusing, threatening & assaulting him at a hotel. Pancholi has also lodged a cross-complaint".

Apparently, Aditya's son Sooraj Pancholi is the reason behind his feud with Sam. Aditya, reportedly, was pressuring Sam to retain Sooraj in his film based on the life of an Indian heavyweight boxer.
Revealing the same, Sam informed TOI, "I had announced the film with Sooraj in the lead role in 2019. He shot for around 12 days for the project. However, things went awry after the first lockdown, as the investors did not want to back a film with Sooraj in the lead. I spoke to Sooraj about it, who himself asked us to go ahead with another actor. However, his father, Aditya Pancholi, insisted that we retain Sooraj and that he would get an investor, but that didn’t happen".
A budget of around Rs 25 crore was needed to make the film. While Aditya too gave some money but that wasn't enough. Last month, on January 27, things took an ugly turn between them when the Yes Boss actor called Sam to a hotel for a meeting. Reportedly, the actor threatened the producer to take Sooraj in the film or else he wouldn't let the film be made.

Aditya, on the other hand, levelled similar accusations against Sam, alleging that the producers misbehaved with him and demanded more money. Sharing his side of the story, Aditya told TOI that Sam came to him in February 2020 and asked for money after sharing a sob story. The producer told him, ‘Khatam ho jaaunga, ghar girvi rakh diya hai, vendors ka paisa dena hai’.
Aditya then allegedly gave him Rs Rs 90 lakh 50 thousand. He added, "On January 27, he visited me at a hotel and, after a while, started misbehaving with me and talking rubbish about Sooraj and my family. He asked me for more money, and I refused. I asked him to return the money he had earlier borrowed, but he flatly refused. Next, I got to know that he filed an NC against me at the Juhu Police Station. I, too, filed an NC against him the following day. I have also filed an application for an FIR against him at the Versova police station".
While Sam has accepted that Aditya gave him money but stressed that it was for his son's sake and the film.
For the uninitiated, Sooraj made his Bollywood debut in 2015 with Salman Khan-produced Hero opposite Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya Shetty. However, the film failed to make a mark at the box office. Later, he appeared in Satellite Shankar and Time to Dance.

We are just a few days away from the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction and every cricket fan is thinking about one thing only -- who will fetch the biggest bid at the auction table in Bengaluru.
590 players, including some of the biggest international stars like David Warner, Kagiso Rabada and Ravichandran Ashwin, are set to go under the hammer as 10 IPL teams look to strengthen their squad.
As of now, South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris is the most expensive buy in an IPL auction, as the Rajasthan Royals had bought him for a whopping Rs 16.25 crores at last year's player auction.
RECORD ALERT

Ashwin, assessing the upcoming IPL mega auction on his YouTube channel, opined that an Indian wicket-keeper batter is set to break all records and become the most expensive buy in an IPL auction.
Ashwin said that Ishan Kishan can be a massive asset to any team since his wicketkeeping adds a massive value to any team and he can bat at the top of the order.
We gave everything we had tonight and we have so much to learn from this season. Thank you to all the fans for your constant support. Our #OneFamily pic.twitter.com/rOe4IWjNwB
— Ishan Kishan (@ishankishan51) October 8, 2021
"Ishan Kishan is one exciting option. But Mumbai also used him in the middle-order. So, he is a 3-in-1 package since his main dynamic of being a keeper adds a massive value. A keeper who can bat at the top, in the middle and he provides another variety of him being a left-hander as well," said Ashwin.
Ashwin further mentioned that the young keeper is even chirpier than Rishabh Pant while keeping the wickets and he is bound to fetch a huge bid.
"The general perception is that he will go for 15-17 crores. I don't know about the exact value. But he is worth every crore that you are gonna be spending. So, Ishan Kishan will go for plenty since he is a 5-in-1 player. And he can sledge you from behind the stumps as well. In fact, he sledges you more than Rishabh Pant," he added.
View this post on Instagram
Ishan Kishan did well for Mumbai Indians, and his ability to hit the ball a fair distance is expected to start a bidding war when all the 10 franchises sit at the auction table in Bengaluru.

India defeated the West Indies by 44 runs in the second ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium to seal the three-match series with a game to play on Wednesday. After losing the toss and being put in to bat, the Indian batters failed to get going and the visitors managed to restrict the hosts at 237 for nine in their allotted 50 overs.
Chasing 238 to level the series, the West Indies got off to a sedate start but Prasidh Krishna produced a magical spell that rattled the visitors.
#TeamIndia win the second @Paytm #INDvWI ODI & take an unassailable lead in the series.

Krishna took four wickets and conceded just 12 runs in his nine-over spell to help India get over the line. While the margin of the win might make it seem that India were in control of the game throughout but it was not the case.
Odean Smith, who had come in the West Indies playing XI in place of injured Kieron Pollard, struck a few big blows towards the end of the innings that left Rohit Sharma and Co scratching their heads.

Rohit brought back Washington Sundar into the attack in the 45th over and he was making some changes in the field to keep the hard-hitting all-rounder quiet. Seeing Chahal strolling on the field, made Rohit angry and he was seen scolding the leg-spinner.
"Kya hua terko? Bhaag kyun nahi raha hai theek se? Chal udhar bhaag (What happened to you? Why are you not running properly? Go and field there)."

Rohit's bowling change in a tense moment in the game paid off as Smith tried to go after Sundar but was caught in the deep by Virat Kohli as Team India breathed a sigh of relief.
Chahal himself had a good outing with the ball after adding crucial 11 runs to the Indian total with the bat. The leg-spinner sent back Shai Hope for 27 and finished his spell of 10 overs conceding just 45 runs.

— Yuzvendra Chahal (@yuzi_chahal) February 9, 2022
However, the star of the show for India was Prasidh Krishna who was simply a nightmare for the visitors. He kept testing the West Indies batters and bowled one of the most economical spells you will see in the 50-over format.
It was great to see Rohit having a go at one of the senior members of the team as it indicates that even if you have over 100 international wickets in the format, if you are not showing the right intent, you will get an earful from the skipper.
