Dhanush and wife Aishwaryaa, Rajinikanth's eldest daughter, shocked fans and well-wishers by announcing their separation on Monday. After 18 years of togetherness, the duo decided to go separate ways as they want to 'take time to understand' themselves as individuals. Taking to social media, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa shared the news with fans and issued identical statements.

Posted by Dhanush on Twitter, the statement reads, "Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better".

While the estranged couple's fans extended support to them, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma indirectly took a dig at Dhanush and Aishwaryaa in a Twitter rant about 'star divorces'. Taking an indirect jibe at the duo, RGV expressed his thoughts on divorces and claimed marriage is the evilest custom.
The Rangeela helmer wrote, "Star divorces are good trend setters to warn young people about the dangers of marriages". In another tweet, he said, "Nothing murders love faster than marriage ..The secret of happiness is to keep loving as long as it remains and then move on instead of getting into the jail called marriage".

According to him, smart people love while "dumbos marry". He further added that "divorces should be celebrated with sangeet" and marriages "should happen quietly". Take a look at his tweets below:

Reacting to the tweets, while a section of netizens agreed with RGV, others trolled him. A user wrote, "Now you are concerned about young people. So great of you. The only person in the world they shouldn't hear is you. That too about marriage from you". Another tweet reads, "Kya sir, din mei bhi".
Here are a few reactions:

The news of Virat Kohli stepping down as the captain of the Indian Test cricket team is still fresh in the memories of the fans, but it did not take long for his critics to use it as a platform to create even bigger news by attacking his reputation in the process.
Former Indian cricketer Atul Wassan has suggested that Kohli’s decision of quitting captaincy in all formats of the game was inevitable, not only because of the slump he has been going through but also because of the fact that the 33-year-old can’t accept his own weaknesses and blames his teammates for the losses.
View this post on Instagram
Addressing the absolutely disappointing end to the Men in Blue’s journey during the T20 World Cup 2021, Wassan says that Kohli’s fall from grace did not surprise him at all. In a conversation with ANI, he said:
"Nothing shocks me. What shocked me was MS Dhoni quitting Test captaincy in the middle of the series in Australia. I think the way things have been going by the last couple of months India’s debacle in the T20 WC there was pressure on him."
View this post on Instagram
Talking about criticising his own players for the losses, Wassan understands that it might be one of Kohli’s aggressive tactics of making his teammates more accountable and therefore, making them men of iron will. However, he also adds that a couple of years ago, he would do so while also putting runs on the board and leading the squad by example. Today, however, if Kohli blames his comrades, it feels more of a cop-out and loads of excuses to hide his own downfall.
"He is not getting runs. At times, he is pointing fingers at other players and as a captain, he must do that to egg them on and I totally support him for that but the problem was that earlier he was leading by example but lately, the thing is his batsmanship has come down."
View this post on Instagram
According to Wassan, while Kohli may have been contemplating the idea of ridding himself of the leadership role for a long time, what did boost his process and accelerated the announcement was the fact that the BCCI dismissed him as the ODI captain ahead of the South Africa tour.
Despite giving up his role as the captain in T20I cricket after the T20 World Cup 2021 debacle, Kohli had every intention to lead the team into the 50-over World Cup in 2023. However, after the Indian cricket board threw a wrench into his ideas, there was nothing left for him to look forward to as the skipper and hence the announcement of stepping down as captain in all formats of the game.
View this post on Instagram
"Every batsman, every player goes through that and it could accentuate that he was captaining all three formats. He also started the conundrum when he said he doesn’t want to do T20 captaincy which was the right decision but I think the board actually took it in a skewed manner and he never expected that he would lose his 50-over captaincy because his goal was to win the World Cup. This was what was missing from his cupboard,” Wassan adds.
India are set to play a three-match ODI series in South Africa from January 19, 2022.
Originally, it was Rohit Sharma who was supposed to lead the squad. However, with the Hitman still recovering from his hamstring injury, the leadership has gone into the hands of KL Rahul.

Well, it was Arjun Reddy that completely changed the narrative for him as he is now seen as one of the bankable stars of the Tollywood industry.
With the staggering success of Arjun Reddy, Vijay made his base in the North with Bollywood fans looking forward to seeing him in movies.
He will soon be making his big Bollywood debut with Liger also starring Ananya Panday in the lead role. He is playing the role of a boxer in this film based on MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).

Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Vishu Reddy, Ali, Makarand Desh Pandey, and Getup Srinu are playing important roles in the film.
The film is a pan-India project that is slated to release in several languages like Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, etc.
As it’s a large scale movie, it was quite obvious that the paycheque for the lead actor would also be equally grand. As per a report in BollywoodLife, Vijay has charged a hefty paycheque for his role in Liger.

Speaking at an event, Vijay said, “I feel it is very strange whenever I think about life. Some are born rich while others achieve it through hard work. Some still continue to be poor. Some might be very tall and some not so. Thus, each of us has our own problems. I too had my own issues. But success comes in life when one thinks about overcoming these problems and achieves it through hard work.”

Virat Kohli stepped down as the Test captain of the Indian team, a day after losing the Test series in South Africa.
India were favourites going into the series but a dismal batting performance saw the visitors lose the plot, despite securing the first-innings lead in all three matches.
Kohli himself did well with the bat scoring 161 runs in four innings at an average of 40.25 but after failing to take the team over the line in the series decider, he decided to relinquish captaincy and focus on his batting.
pic.twitter.com/tv9GEH7Fk5
— Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) January 18, 2022
Kohli had already resigned as the T20I captain in September last year and just before the team boarded the flight to the Rainbow nation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had sacked him as the ODI skipper and gave the reins to Rohit Sharma.
Being the white-ball captain, Rohit was one of the leading names to take charge of captaincy across all formats but a few cricket experts felt Test captaincy should be given to someone young, looking at the future.
However, former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin feels that Rohit is the perfect candidate to take Test captaincy and added that the board should not look too far ahead and give the all-important role to someone who is inexperienced.
What a test match!!! Great effort from boys to pull it off @BCCI pic.twitter.com/SYybcGjt4P
— Rohit Sharma (@ImRo45) September 6, 2021
“I feel Rohit Sharma is a good player and can be a very good captain. Whatever experience I have and whatever cricket I have played, I feel the captaincy should be given to Rohit only. He might play cricket for another two-three years, he might play more,” Azharuddin told India News.
Fans, however, did not agree completely with Azharuddin and said that giving Rohit the captaincy in the longest format of the game will lead to a mockery of a situation and he should work on his fitness.
The problem with rohit is that he has fitness issues. So we need a player who remains fit and is available for all matches
For captaincy
— Meer Muzamil (@MuzamilUnique) January 18, 2022But what about his fitness, if he is unfit for every second match what will we do then,
we will be in a mockery situation
— Honest Man 1046 (@1046_man) January 18, 2022@azharflicks bhai , his fitness is not such that he would be able to play all 3 formats all the time. What's the point of making an irregular captain then?
However , i do not support the idea of KL Rahul to be the next captain of India. He's too dumb tactically to lead a side.
— Syed Rizvi (@riz110syed) January 19, 2022Rohit is unfit and is 35, Rahul doesn't seem to have the Captaincy skill.
Even I think Pant is better!
— Cricketjeevi (@wildcardgyan) January 17, 2022 Rohit was ruled out of the Test and ODI series in South Africa due to a hamstring injury he picked up while preparing for the tour.
The former India skipper mentioned that Rohit’s absence in the Test series in South Africa worked in favour of the hosts.
Bat in hand, helmet on, pads on gloves on, shoes on: I am complete. pic.twitter.com/yJxyqcfbCj
— Rohit Sharma (@ImRo45) August 15, 2020
“His absence in this Test series also became an advantage for South Africa because he is an attacking player, plays in an attacking fashion as an opener as well,” he said.

For a long time, society has kept coming up with different barometers to determine the worth of a man.
Sometimes, it’s their profession that makes men important, sometimes, it’s their wealth, and often times the lack of melanin in their skin makes them more appealing. But far too often, a man’s physical attributes seem the easiest to target.
While women have begun to find appreciation in all shapes and sizes, it’s not always been the same for men.
A physically domineering man is seen as an ‘alpha’, whereas a shorter lad is considered a ‘beta’. Traditionally, it’s always been the taller and more muscular man who’s considered to be superior to the rest.
While the entire concept of the alpha-male is quite ridiculous - an ill-informed piece of research that became a marketing gimmick - the impact of such a standard has unfortunately been far too real.
But it’s 2022. And thankfully, more and more people are waking up to this scam and we’ve some celebrities to thank for it.
While most of them may not be overtly public and honest about their heights like Tom Holland, their superstardom has gone a long way to show that times are changing and that there’s never been a better time to be a short guy:
1. Tom Holland © Reuters
Standing a decent 5’8” tall, the Spiderman: Far From Home star has been doing the festival rounds with his towering co-star and girlfriend, Zendaya, by his side.
Both Tom and Zendaya have been vocal about the ludicrous standards surrounding men’s heights, where the man is always expected to be taller than the partner. Good for them!
2. Allu Arjun © Allu Arjun
Allu Arjun has always been a superstar, but Pushpa: The Rise has increased his pan-India appeal.
He carried the entire film on his shoulders, and at no moment did you care about the fact that the stylish star is reportedly 5’6”.
3. Salman Khan © Twitter/ANI
In a TV interview, Sushmita Sen had shared a nugget from the sets of Biwi No. 1.
Reportedly, Salman Khan asked Sushmita why she wasn’t wearing her heels for the scene when the 5’9” actress replied that Director, David Dhawan, wanted her to wear flats so that she won’t tower over the 5’6” Salman Khan.
To which, Sallu Bhai confidently encouraged her to wear the heels as he wasn’t insecure about a woman towering over him.
Honestly, we’re a little surprised by this take coming from the Sultan star.
4. Shahrukh Khan © Twitter/ANI
5’7” - The man who’s stolen the hearts of millions across the world, Shah Rukh Khan is undoubtedly the poster-child for men who are comfortable in their own skin.
He might be 5’7”, but the shade of his superstardom can dwarf anyone who’s in a room with him.
5. Shahid Kapoor © Shahid Kapoor
Apart from playing problematic characters like Kabir Singh from time to time, Shahid Kapoor is actually a fairly charismatic actor.
The national heartbreaker is 5’7”, but his fans don’t seem to mind that one bit.
6. Saif Ali Khan © Twitter/ANI
Saifu’s versatility is one of his greatest strengths, and as an actor, he has an incredible range. Perhaps it may have something to do with his 5’7” build being easier to frame and shoot.
7. Aamir Khan © Twitter/ANI
5’5” - India’s 'Mr Perfectionist' has delivered hits after hits in his long and fabled Bollywood career.
Whether it be as Sahir, the villain in Dhoom 3, or Siddharth Marathe, the scrappy protagonist from Ghulam, Aamir Khan has unequivocally captured the audience’s attention without them ever questioning his 5’5” frame.
8. Ram Charan © BCCL
Ram Charan will soon be seen in Rajmouli’s epic RRR as the freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.
The film has gratuitous action sequences and not once does the 5’8” star look out of place amidst all that tension and drama.
So, it’s time to throw all your insecurities about your height out of the window. There’s no better way to be an attractive and confident man than to be comfortable in your skin.
Disclaimer: Do note, all these heights are ball-park figures as different platforms record their numbers differently. Perhaps it may have something to do with short men being afraid to reveal the actual measurements, in case they’re seen and treated differently by their audiences.

A few days back, it was announced that after the success of Pushpa: The Rise and the newfound pan-India fame of its lead star Allu Arjun, the makers of his 2020 Telugu blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo will now be opting for a Hindi dubbed release that too in theatres.
Considering no new Hindi film is up for a release in theatres due to the Omicron scare, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is expected to spring a surprise and help the theatre business in the Hindi belts.
However, the Hindi dubbed release announcement of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo turned out to be a huge blow for Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film Shehzada directed by Rohit Dhawan.
The film is a Hindi remake of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and is currently under production.
With the Allu Arjun starrer opting for a theatrical release in Hindi belts, there are high chances that it hampers the prospects of its Hindi remake at the box office.
© Goldmines Telefilms
And it turns out, Paresh Rawal, who plays an important role in the Hindi remake isn’t happy about this development. Rather, he is “shocked”. Moreover, he also says that their Hindi remake is much more refined than the Telugu original and pins his hope on the fan-following of Kartik Aaryan.
Speaking to India Today, when Paresh was asked about his take on Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’s Hindi dubbed release, he said, “Frankly, I'm shocked by this news. And yes, this can affect the business of Shehzada, but since Kartik [Aaryan] has a loyal fan following and his popularity is huge, so it should definitely work in our favour. Moreover, our Hindi version compared to the South one is much more refined, if I can say that. The sets are fantastic, the house we shot in Delhi is beautiful, the overall production value of the film is very good. It is handled in a different way catering to our audience. So, this release should not affect Shehzada.”
Further talking about whether it is wise to remake a successful film in today’s time, the veteran actor added, “But given the situation we are in currently, when everything is available at the click of a button, is it wise to make remakes. One will have to be very careful when they make the contract. Till we exhaust our run, we will not dub it in Hindi, that has to be taken care of. Otherwise, there is no use in making these films, when people are investing a lot, in terms of money, time and careers are also at stake. So in that case, one will have to be watchful about it.”

Besides Kartik Aaryan & Paresh Rawal, Shehzada also stars Kriti Sanon & Manisha Koirala.
Producer Manish Shah, who is releasing the Allu Arjun starrer in Hindi also believes that Shehzada won't be affected by this move. He told TOI, "Shehzada has a frontline Hindi star cast and is being shot in a very big way. It is definitely going to do well."
Recently, the teaser for Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’s Hindi dubbed release was dropped online.

Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar has criticised the selectors for lacking the foresight of training and developing another leader in the Indian cricket team who could replace Virat Kohli as the next Test captain over the last few years.
After losing the Test series against South Africa on their home turf, Kohli did not take long to declare himself retired as the leader of the Indian squad in red-ball cricket. While the decision did take some of his fans by surprise, names like Sunil Gavaskar were not shocked at all and confessed that they’d seen it coming from a mile away.
However, ever since Kohli shared the news with the world with a bunch of social media posts all over the internet, multiple names have come forward to fill his shoes in the longest format of the game. The most prominent names that are the most likely to do so are Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, although certain people of the Indian cricket community are also pushing for the 24-year old Rishabh Pant and the ace-pacer Jasprit Bumram to hold the mettle now.
Vengsarkar, on the other hand, believes that the selectors were unable to pick the proper man to succeed Kohli as captain because they lacked vision.
View this post on Instagram
“It has been caused over the years by the selectors’ lack of vision in grooming a captain for the future. Like we groomed Dhoni, they just haven’t identified the right man to replace Kohli as a captain. I just couldn’t understand why Shikhar Dhawan was named as the captain of India’s tour of Sri Lanka last year," Vengsarkar told The Times of India.
Reliving the time from back in the 2000s, Vengakarar expressed how seamlessly did the team selectors manage to make a transition after Rahul Dravid decided to give up the captaincy job.
“We wanted to give some more time to Dhoni before he took the Test captaincy. He was already the white-ball captain, and we wanted him to learn a few things by following Kumble closely. Kumble led India superbly in that period," he recalled.
There have been a lot of whispers around the news of Kohli quitting the captaincy in Test cricket despite having the greatest winning record among all the other Indian skippers.
Some feel that it was the wrongdoing of the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah who wanted him gone from the map of Indian cricket after he made a direct contradiction to Ganguly’s words in a press conference before leaving for South Africa.
Meanwhile, others feel that Kohli genuinely wanted to get himself rid of all the additional responsibilities that he had to deal with as the captain and wanted to spend the remainder of his professional career working on different ways to become a better batsman and chase his dreams of becoming the best in the world.
Whatever the case may be, the fact remains that with Kohli’s time as the Indian skipper now a thing of the past, it would be extremely difficult for his successor to live up to the standards that he has set.
