With both sides fighting it out for a win, things got pretty heated up on the third day of the second Test between India and South Africa in

    Johannesburg.
There were quite a few moments when players from both the sides were involved in heated altercations and had to be separated by the on-field match umpires.

While the on-field arguments made for an exciting watch for the millions of supporters, enjoying the coverage on their TV sets, it gave nightmares to the two on-field umpires as they had to constantly intervene to pull up the players.

Be it Jasprit Bumrah coming face to face with young Proteas speedster  Marco Jansen or Rishabh Pant telling Rassie Van der Dussen to “shut his mouth”, there were many instances that required the umpire's intervention throughout the day.

Not just the heated exchanges, the two on-field umpires, Marais Erasmus and Allahudien Paleker, also had to deal with constant appeals made by the bowlers.
Amidst everything that was happening around them, it was hard for them to be vigilant in order to make the right decisions.
And then there came a moment when Erasmus, the senior of the two umpires, finally expressed his helplessness and told the Indian players that they were giving him a “bl**dy heart attack every over”.

Defending the 240-run target to clinch their maiden Test series in South Africa, the Indian bowlers came out all guns blazing but the hosts were equally determined to keep the series alive, which made for an exciting contest between bat and ball.
Unlike their first innings, the Proteas batters came out with an aggressive mindset and played some terrific shots that pushed the Indian bowlers on the backfoot.
View this post on InstagramThe visitors were searching for a breakthrough and it was finally provided by first innings hero Shardul Thakur, who trapped Aiden Markram right in front in the 10th over of South Africa’s second innings.
Before Markram got out on the final ball of the over, Thakur had caused him all sorts of trouble in the same over. The ‘Palghar Express’ bowled some great lines and lengths and troubled the South African opener. Not just the batter, his constant appeals in the over gave a huge heart attack to the umpire as well.

After the over was finished and the players were changing ends, Erasmus, who was operating at the non-striker’s end in the previous over, was heard helplessly begging for mercy to Thakur and other Indian players.
“...you guys are giving me a bloody heart attack after every over,” Erasmus was caught saying on the stump mic.
That's Stumps on Day 3 of the second #SAvIND Test!

South Africa move to 118/2 at the close of play & need 122 runs more.

We will see you tomorrow for Day 4 action.

With the game entering its crucial stage, we are not sure if Indian players would be paying any heed to his humble request.
So, Erasmus should tie up his laces for yet another tough day in the office.

The discussion around the future of the former vice-captain of the Indian Test cricket team, Ajinkya Rahane and top-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara with the squad has been a hot topic of discussion for the past couple of months.
The lack of consistency from the veteran batters in scoring and even the inability to hold on to their wickets for long have been crucial in their spiralling popularity among the fans.
The last time Rahane smashed a century in international cricket was back in December 2020 when he led the squad to a surprising victory at the Melbourne cricket ground. Since then, the cricketer had gone 25 innings in 14 matches without scoring in triple digits and averaging 21.08 runs (before his half-century in the second inning of the second Test between India and South Africa).

Both fans and some highly reputed cricket analysts such as Sunil Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik have even contemplated whether Rahane’s time with the squad is finally over or will the team management and the coaching staff continue to give him more lives based on the recent half-ton that he scored at the Wanderers cricket ground.
About four years ago, Rahane had found himself in a similar situation where a slump in his form had led to the then-head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri dropping him from the Playing XI ahead of their first two Test matches at Cape Town and Centurion.
    View this post on Instagram
A younger Rohit Sharma, who wasn’t nearly as good as he is now in red-ball cricket, was given the opportunity to replace him. Sadly, other than a 47-run second inning of the second Test, even Sharma’s contributions towards the team were insignificant and he was once against replaced by Rahane ahead of the third and final Test.
Back in 2018, Shastri had justified making the changes on the basis of form. “Overseas, you go on current form, you go on conditions. You see which player can adapt to certain conditions quicker than the other,” he had said in the post-match conference.
    View this post on Instagram
In a recent interview that Shastri had done with The Indian Express, he backed his decision to drop Rahane back then and said that in all seven years of his career as the leader of Team India’s coaching staff, he had never had any sort of agenda on his mind before picking or dropping a player from the roster.
Although, he did agree that the selection process of the team is the hardest thing a head coach has to go through.
It only goes on to show that both Rahane and Pujara are extremely fortunate to have their spots in the team despite not being able to deliver for so long.
Therefore after having scored just one half-century in such a long period of time does not give them the right to call constructive criticism “outside noise”.
    View this post on Instagram
Sure, there are numerous instances where the Indian fanbase gets extremely toxic and players are exposed to overwhelming criticism. However, in the ongoing case of the two batters, who are supposed to be experts in just one of the three formats of the game, have been brought in front absolutely the right kind of criticism both by the fans and experts alike.
Instead of deflecting it as “noise”, maybe Pujara and Rahane ought to accept it and make way for younger talent to shine.

Kabir Khan’s 83 starring Ranveer Singh in the role of legendary Kapil Dev has garnered all-round positive response from the film critics and audience alike.
In particular, Ranveer’s portrayal of Kapil Dev has seen unanimous praise from all quarters with many claiming it to be his best performance to date.
While this is definitely the best portrayal of Kapil Dev on the big screen, it isn’t the first time an actor has played the legendary cricketer on celluloid.
More than 5 years before the release of 83, a character inspired by Kapil Dev featured in Emraan Hashmi starrer Azhar. The ill-fated biopic on the life of former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin had Emraan Hashmi in the lead role.

The film also featured a special appearance by actor Varun Badola who played Kapil Dev. Since the biopic was controversial, the name Mohammad Azharuddin was changed to Azhar Mohammad.

The makers tweaked the names of other characters based on real-life cricketers. So, Varun Badola’s Kapil Dev was named Kapil Jain, Gautam Gulati’s Ravi Shastri was called Ravi Goyal, Manjot Singh’s Navjot Singh Sidhu was called Navjot Singh Bachar and Karanvir Sharma’s Manoj Prabhakar was called Manoj Shinde.

Take a look at a scene featuring Varun Badola’s Kapil from Azhar below:

Last year, in an interview with TOI, Varun Badola had opened up about his portrayal of Kapil Dev in Azhar. He said, “For Azhar, the makers called me a couple of days prior to the shoot so I didn’t have any time to prepare. But, no matter how good or bad I looked on screen, I knew one thing for sure that even at 4 in the morning if anyone told me to bowl like Kapil Dev, I would get that right.”

Further talking about the bowling action of Kapil Dev, he said, “I have had the same bowling action since childhood. In fact, in a friendly match in Mumbai, S Sreesanth pointed it out and said that my action is exactly like that of Kapil paaji”.
    © Instagram/Ranveer Singh
Commenting on Ranveer Singh portraying Kapil Dev in 83, Varun said, “He’s done a fabulous job with the look! I'm yet to see how he gets the mannerisms onscreen, but one thing I can bet for- he can’t get Kapil paaji’s bowling action as perfectly as I can!”

Now that the film has been released, we can say for sure, Ranveer did nail the bowling action as well as the mannerism of Kapil Dev.

Ajay Devgn is all set to make his grand Telugu debut with a special appearance in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming magnum opus, RRR. The movie stars NTR Jr and Ram Charan in the lead roles also featuring Alia Bhatt in a pivotal role.
Even though Ajay Devgn doesn’t share a single frame in the film with Ram Charan or NTR Jr, their collaboration is highly anticipated and people are expecting nothing short of fireworks on-screen.

However, this isn’t the first time that Ajay Devgn and Ram Charan have collaborated on a film. A lesser-known fact is that both the actors worked together on a 2016 Telugu film albeit with a twist.

Director Surendra Reddy helmed the 2016 Telugu film Dhruva starring Ram Charan, Rakul Preet and Arvind Swamy in the lead. A year later, the movie was dubbed in Hindi and now, often telecasts on TV besides streaming on YouTube.

Indian Test cricket veterans Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane have been under fire for a really long time for not being able to perform consistently and still being given a lot of chances to improve themselves despite some extremely talented players waiting for their turn to break through the red-ball team.
The situation reached boiling point during the first inning of the second Test between India and South Africa at the Wanderers cricket ground when Pujara and Rahane got out at 3 and 0 respectively.
    View this post on Instagram
Some of the biggest names of the Indian cricket fraternity, including the former captain of the Indian cricket team, Sunil Gavaskar and wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik had criticised the two players and had said that their time with the team may have come to an end.
They had also spoken about how players like Shreyas Iyer, who are a lot younger and much in-tune with their batting abilities at the moment, deserve a spot in the team, probably even more than the two of them.
And then came the second inning of the second Test which gave the two players enough ammunition to talk back at the critics.
Both Pujara and Rahane managed to make half-centuries and were two of the highest scorers and even set the record for India's fastest-ever century partnership in South Africa, on their way to building a low-scoring total of 266 runs.
    View this post on Instagram
At the end of the Day 3 of the match, Pujara said that he was looking forward to opportunities to score while not having to force anything.
He added that the pitch had variable bounce and there has made it difficult for batters on either side to stick to the wicket.
"Whenever you get a loose ball you want to make sure that you put it away. You never know when you will get an unplayable ball. So yes, it was part of my game plan that if I get a loose ball I will try and convert it, but I didn't do anything extra,” he said.
    View this post on Instagram
Addressing the criticism that Rahane and he had been facing over the past few days, Pujara said that the team internally and the coaching staff were extremely supportive during the slump and that whatever negativity was coming their way, it was simply “outside noise”.
“There are times when you don't get too many runs, but the important thing as a cricketer is following the right routine, having good work ethics, and keep working on your game, because there are times when you will not get runs, but if you follow the right processes, you get runs on the board,” he added.
Many fans of the game felt that Pujara started using his Test captain Virat Kohli’s exact words to deal with criticism, even if all of it was well-deserved:
but how many yrs not performing nd suddenly one half century nd playing next matches same formula
    — Rajesh (@kannar852) January 6, 2022As responsible senior pro Pujara will have to define the meaning out side noise VK coined this word now it's Pujara any constructive criticism based on facts by Media fans is reckoned as outside noise. This attitude to criticism will ruin cricket VK Pujji are creation of Fan media

    — Mukul Bansal (@mukku_here) January 6, 2022You and the test captain are in the same boat averaging 25

    — Cric Lover (@CricketFan444) January 5, 2022Yes all fans are outside noise these two keep on playing with low scores year after year...seems like it is personal team, see the attitude after scoring a 53..still he did decent in england wht about rahane, given so many chances , 40 runs of him hailed as 100..bad for cricket
