As the third COVID-19 wave sweeps India, the release dates of various films have been postponed. Ranveer Singh-starrer 83 was the last film that was released in theaters. Directed by Kabir Khan, the biographical drama was released during the Christmas weekend and has been underperforming at the box office despite getting a positive response from critics. Starting from the New Year weekend, several biggies were scheduled to release in January, however, the release dates have been pushed ahead because of the Omicron scare.

Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur's Jersey was slated to hit the big screens on December 31, a week after 83. However, the makers postponed the release date at the last minute due to the surge in coronavirus cases and the Delhi government's decision to close the theatres. Soon after, the makers of RRR, Prithviraj, and Radhe Shyam too pushed their release dates.
Now, the latest buzz suggests that John Abraham's much-awaited film Attack too might not release on time. For the unversed, the action thriller is scheduled to release on January 28 for now, however, the team might soon make an announcement regarding the film's release.
Revealing the same, a source told News18, "While the official announcement is yet to be made, the producers, including John Abraham, have had an internal talk and have decided that postponing the film is going to be the best decision in the current situation. There is no way that they can think of releasing the film on their scheduled date considering the current surge in COVID-19 case".

The source added that the makers are thinking about postponing the film as Mumbai contributes to "around 30-40 percent of the box office revenue" and the city has been witnessing an extreme rise in the number of coronavirus cases.
While John is keen on releasing the film in theaters, the makers are reportedly also thinking about an OTT release or Pay Per View (PPV) option. But, nothing is yet confirmed.
Last month, the makers of Attack had released the teaser which received an encouraging response from fans. Originally, the film was scheduled to hit the theaters on August 14, 2020, however, even at that time, it was delayed due to the pandemic.

Directed by Lakshya Raj Anand, the film revolves around the hostage crisis and stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh as the leading ladies.

Rishabh Pant has been receiving a lot of flak for the manner in which he threw away his wicket by playing a reckless shot in India’s second innings on Day 3 of the Johannesburg Test.
From legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar to 2011 World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir, many experts have expressed their disappointment with the 24-year-old wicket-keeper disregarding the match situation and playing into the opposition's hands.

While Gambhir pulled up Pant for his “stupidity”, the ‘Little Master’ ripped into the youngster saying there could be no excuse for playing such an 'irresponsible shot'.

“You had two new batsmen at the crease and then you saw that shot from Rishabh Pant. Forgettable, no excuses for that shot. None of that nonsense that it’s his natural game,” Gavaskar said in the commentary box.
“There is supposed to be a bit of responsibility shown because there are others taking the blows. There are guys like Rahane who has taken the blow, guys like Pujara who have taken it on their body. So you also fight it out,” he added.
However, amidst all the criticism, former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has come out in Delhi batter’s defence and said that he has always played his cricket like that.
    © Reuters
While others found fault in Pant’s approach and deemed it utter nonsense, Manjrekar felt that there was a great deal of thought behind that particular shot and it was one of those days when he couldn’t connect properly.

“This is how he plays. Rishabh Pant has played two big knocks in Australia and England and he started in a similar fashion in those innings. There was no element of rash or reckless shot in his dismissal in South Africa,” Manjrekar said on an ESPNCricinfo show.
Manjrekar also disagreed with the experts who felt that the reason why Pant charged down the track against Kagiso Rabada was that he wanted to prove a point after facing the music earlier in the over.
    View this post on Instagram
Refuting such opinions, the cricketer-turned-commentator said that nobody would have said anything had Pant connected the shot properly and dispatched it deep into the stands for a maximum.
The 56-year-old former cricketer said that after facing a bouncer, Pant came dancing down the track anticipating a full-length delivery and that’s what most batters would have done, there was nothing wrong in that.
    View this post on Instagram
“He was up to the task as he was thinking that the next delivery would be pitched right up. Pant was not rattled by a particular bouncer and the ball would have gone for a six had he connected. He needs such shots to settle down. This guy doesn’t have a problem with the short ball,” he explained.
Although Manjrekar didn’t take any names, clearly his comments were directed at pundits like Gavaskar and Gambhir who were furious with Pant and even questioned his temperament to succeed in the longest format of the game.

Whatever little success Pant has had in red-ball cricket is because of his attacking stroke play and the same people who are criticising him right now were madly in love with his attacking flair when he played that historic knock at the Gabba.
Whether you are a fan or an expert you just can’t have it both ways – that’s called hypocrisy.

It’s no secret that Kangana Ranaut is a hardcore BJP supporter and she hasn’t shied away from accepting it in public. She is someone who has strong opinions about the topics of national interest.

Now, she has spoken about the much-talked about incident wherein Prime Minister Narendra Modi's convoy was stopped by protesters in Punjab, forcing him to return. "The PM was stuck on a flyover for 15-20 minutes. This was a major lapse in the security of the PM," said the Union Home Ministry in a statement.
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said there had been no security lapses on the part of his government. "We had asked them [Prime Minister's office] to discontinue the visit due to bad weather and protests. We had no information of [the] sudden change in route. There was no security lapse during the PM's visit," Mr Channi told the media on Wednesday.

It’s a major security lapse and people are demanding for President’s rule in Punjab. Kangana took to her Instagram Stories to call the incident 'shameful'. She wrote, "What happened in Punjab is shameful, the Honourable Prime Minister is democratically elected leader/ representative/ voice of 1.4 billion people, an attack on him is an attack on every single Indian... it is an attack on our democracy itself, Punjab is becoming a hub for terrorist activities if we don't stop them now, nation will have to pay a big price #bharatstandswithmodiji."

A while back, Kangana also faced the heat of the protesters and her car was surrounded by farmers in Punjab's Kiratpur. The incident took place in Bunga Sahib, Kiratpur Sahib on Chandigarh-Una Highway.

In a video shared by Kangana on her Instagram stories, she was seen saying that they were not letting her car move ahead. “They are calling themselves farmers. They are attacking me, abusing me and threatening to kill me…In this country, this kind of mob lynching is happening openly. If I would not be having security with me, what situation would be there, what would happen? The situation here is unbelievable,” she said.
“There is so much police presence, still my car is not being allowed to go. Am I a politician? Do I run a party? what is this behaviour…Several people are doing politics in my name and today’s episode is the result of that,” she added.

Rishabh Pant has been under the radar of many cricket pundits for his poor run of form with the bat in recent times. However, his lack of runs has had minimal impact on his skills behind the stumps.

Ever since he burst onto the scene, the 24-year-old has proved to be one of the chirpiest wicket keepers going around.
Whether it is his encouraging words for his own bowlers or banter with the rival batter, Pant's antics from behind the stumps generally go viral on social media in a flash.

Pant took over the internet when he sang the Hindi version of Spider-Man's theme song in Australia during a Test match and his banter with the then Australia captain Tim Paine was also a hit among cricket fans.

While he has struggled with the bat in the four innings he has batted, so far, in South Africa in the ongoing series, Pant has done fairly well behind the stumps.
He recently became the fastest Indian wicket-keeper to register 100 dismissals in the longest format of the game.

Pant brought out his street cricket-like sledge on display on Wednesday to disrupt South Africa captain Dean Elgar's concentration.

Pant took a cheeky dig at Elgar after the South Africa skipper decided not to review the LBW decision against Keegan Petersen who was trapped in front of the stumps by Ravichandran Ashwin for 28.
As the next batter was walking onto the field, Pant was heard taking a sly dig at Elgar, sarcastically calling him a great captain and selfish for not challenging the on-field call against Petersen.
"zabardast captain hai ye, apne baare mei sochta hai ye bas. (He is a great captain, he only thinks about himself)," Pant's sledge was caught on the stump mic.
I loved the way rishab pant said this during the match when petersen got out pic.twitter.com/vqeEIlT3xG
    — Charan Donekal (@CDonekal) January 5, 2022
Well, clearly, the sledge didn't work as Elgar managed to get through the day, unbeaten on 46 and took the hosts to a comfortable position at Stumps on Day 3.

While we cannot be sure of the outcome of the Test match in Johannesburg, it is safe to say that we can expect some more gems from behind the stumps by Rishabh Pant, especially, if India manage to make some early inroads on Day 4.

We'd known for a while that India had caught on to the Allu Arjun fever since the release of the Telugu superstar's latest blockbuster movie Pushpa.
But it looks like the fever has now hit the shores outside of the country as well.

Turns out Allu Arjun's charm is not only restricted to his fans in India but across the whole world, where people just love watching him and his movies.

The newest fan that Allu looks to have made is Australian cricketer David Warner.
    © Reuters
For all the non-cricket fans out here, David is a left-handed opening batsman and is a former captain of the Australian international team.

Now, you can totally imagine the kind of impact Allu has on people, with top sportsmen too, having a liking to the acting guru.
Well, for all the people who don't know, David is a keen admirer of Indian movies and people familiar with him know that he often treats his fans to videos of him enjoying and dancing to Hindu and Telugu movies and songs.
The 35-year-old cricketer began as an Indian film fanatic during his time at the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad. It is there where he developed a huge fan following that included people who didn't even watch cricket.
Coming to the present, it appears that the release of Allu's Pushpa has certainly struck a chord with him and he even asked his fans where he should dance to Allu's song ‘Eyy Bidda Idhi Naa Adda’ in the film.
Uploading a picture of Allu dancing to the song in Pushpa, on Instagram, Warner asked, “Should I try one of the dance moves from #pushpa ??”
    View this post on Instagram
To this question, Warner received a big, wonderful response from fans who clearly love him as well as Allu Arjun.
Just a week ago on December 30, Warner actually posted a six-second reel on Instagram, where he even lip-synced to one of the dialogues from Pushpa.
He recreated the scene in Allu Arjun's iconic style.
    View this post on Instagram
To his surprise, even Allu reposted the video and said, “Warner … David Warner … Yevva…Thaggede Le" said Allu.

    Amazing, right?

By the looks of it, this is one bromance that we just can't get enough of! I mean, in all honesty, cricket plus movies are one combination that all Indians absolutely love.
Keep going strong, Allu and David! We love you.
