    With rising COVID cases in the country, one of the industries that face a major hit is that of entertainment. The filmmakers land up incurring huge losses because the theaters are shut and in the case of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, it was to release on 7th January but the makers dropped the idea because of the current scenario in the country. As the movie was scheduled to release, the makers started promoting the movie in the last leg of 2021.
    View this post on InstagramAs per a report in Bollywood Hungama, approximately Rs 18-20 crore were wasted in promoting SS Rajamouli’s eagerly awaited magnum opus RRR. Yes, you heard it right. The report states that the promotion strategy included a Rs. 2-3 crore budget for transporting fans of Ramcharan and NTR Jr to promote the movie outside Andhra Pradesh.  
    A source told the portal, “Rajamouli is aware that his two leading men in RRR have a minimal fan following outside Andhra. For the media/marketing events in Mumbai and other cities outside, Andhra fans were flown and put up in luxury hotels. All they had to do was applaud, cheer and whistle for their demi-gods in exchange for hospitality.” Other sources also added that south gambit has not worked for the Hindi belt audiences in most cases. South heroes from Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan to Dulquer Salman and Prabhas have been huge flops in the Hindi-speaking belt. It’s only Baahubali that worked wonders. 
    Now, this is insane and we wonder how the makers will recover these losses.  
    At an earlier press conference, producer DVV Danayya had disclosed that the budget ranges from Rs 350 to Rs 400 crore. It is indeed an insane amount for RRR, which is set in the pre-Independence era in the 1920s. RRR will mark SS Rajamouli’s first film after the huge success of the Baahubali series.

    It is a fictional story of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR, respectively. The movie also features Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles. 
    Here’s the trailer:

    “This will be a fictional story on the lives of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. There are gaps in the lives of these legendary freedom fighters that we don’t know about. We don’t know what happened in their lives in these years. It is through this fictional story we’d like to show what could have happened in their lives and what would have happened if they met and bonded,” Rajamouli had said at the film’s launch in 2019.

One thing we’ve noticed is that he’s a sneaker and statement outerwear kinda guy who loves a quirky jacket and footwear that literally sweeps us off our feet.

    However, for a recent outing, he ditched both and went with a classic white tee and relaxed fit denims that he paired with brown Chelsea boots. He did manage to look chic because he meticulously picked the jeans that added all the drama to his otherwise minimal outfit.

    He was recently clicked outside Manish Malhotra’s house in Bandra where he arrived, probably for fittings, in his Porsche. He wore a casual outfit which was the perfect OOTD. 

    He swapped his statement sneakers with a pair of boots, given the chilly weather. And, he served another distressed jeans look, this time with a super frayed hem.

    Kartik seems to be obsessed with ripped, torn and worn-out jeans and debuts different styles every time he steps out. His latest look is proof. 

    The jeans he wore featured an asymmetric frayed hemline that made his basic outfit look trendy and chic.

    Frayed hem jeans are one of the trendiest styles in men’s fashion and have lately been a celeb favourite too.  

    In case you want to steal the look, you can easily DIY the frayed hem look at home. Simply take an old pair of jeans and randomly slit them using a blade. Then pick out the threads from them to get a similar frayed look.

    Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, two of the great servants of Indian cricket, haven’t been at their best in the last couple of years. However, despite their lean patch, the team management has persisted with them series after series hoping they would come good at some stage and regain their form.
    But it seems like every time they walk out to bat they give plenty of reasons why they don’t deserve to be in India’s batting line-up. It’s like they are putting a final nail in their coffin and taking a step closer to their Test retirement.

    Ignoring the public outrage, the Rahul Dravid-led team management decided to give Pujara and Rahane yet another chance but the duo fluffed the opportunity and failed to make it count, getting out cheaply in the first innings of the second Test at Johannesburg against South Africa.

    The Saurashtra batter consumed a lot of deliveries, 33 to be precise, but could only score three runs whereas the former vice-captain of the side didn’t trouble the scorers even a bit and got out for a golden duck.

    The most disappointing part was the manner in which both the batters got out off consecutive deliveries by Duanne Olivier. They didn’t make the Proteas pacers work hard for their wicket but instead offered them a ‘New Year’ gift on a platter.

    Their dismissals were a clear indication that both the batters were short on confidence and they weren't able to make correct decisions on the field.

    After their latest failure, fans’ patience has reached the boiling point and they began demanding their ouster from the Indian red-ball side for good. Many fans strongly believe that they don’t see them playing another match for India and it was time that they bid goodbye to their international career.

    Some of the fans even joked about their “true friendship” that both the senior players showed so that the other didn’t feel left out and had someone to share the criticism with.

The former India skipper said that if they failed in the second innings it would become really difficult to include them in the Playing XI for the next match and that could be the end of their glorious careers.

    “After those two dismissals one can say that they probably have just the next innings, both Pujara and Rahane, to save their Test careers,” Gavaskar said while doing commentary for the official broadcasters.

    Showing any senior player the exit door is not an easy task for any captain or the head coach but sometimes tough decisions are necessary for the greater good. Perhaps it’s time that the management starts looking past them with an eye on the future.

    Harnaaz Sandhu won the title of Miss Universe for India after 21 years.  
    While her victory left Indians around the world happy and proud, an incident on the stage involving host Steve Harvey and Harnaaz left many irked.  
    It so happened that during the pageant, host Steve Harvey had asked Harnaaz Sandhu to mimic a cat.  
    The video of it went viral with many people on social media slamming the host as well as the beauty pageant for asking such a question.

    Weeks after the controversy, former Miss Universe Lara Dutta explained in an interview why such a question was posed at Harnaaz Sandhu.  

    She told Pinkvilla that a contestant at the beauty pageant is asked to fill a 15-page questionnaire and one of the questions in it is about her hobby.  
    What in the living was this about? While other contestants were asked about their accomplishments Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu was asked to do an animal impression and she meow’d on stage. I want to know who wrote this question for her?#MissUniverse #MissIndia #SteveHarvey

Though she couldn’t do it because of her gown. Similarly, Harnaaz had mentioned that she used to enjoy mimicking animal sounds. Hence, Steve asked her about it.  
    Lara said, “It's a bit to see the lighter side of your personality. Every question does not have to be about saving the world or being Mother Teresa or ending world hunger. So, in Harnaaz's form, one of the things she had written is that she used to enjoy mimicking animal sounds which is why that's what they picked up. That's why Steve Harvey asked her that question. So, the question came from what she had written in the form. The idea of it was not to put her down or ask India a bizarre question. It's just to see how you would perform when something like that is thrown at you and life is going to put you in so many situations along the way.”

    She added, “So, it's about understanding how you would react if something and I think Harnaaz handled it very well she was very nonchalant about it. She didn't give it any gehra (deep) thought that ‘Oh my god now I have to mimic a cat’, she just went with it and had fun. I think that's the most important thing is a lot of time you shouldn't take yourself too seriously. Being Miss Universe or being Miss World is not about wearing the crown and having the perfect wave. It's about being yourself, being the young wonderful girl that Harnaaz is. She's very genuine, she's a little goofy, she's real, she's comfortable about who she is and how she is. I think that's very refreshing to have.”

    Earlier, Harnaaz had told India Today that she didn’t mind Steve asking her such a question and she didn’t think it was “inappropriate”.  
    “Why do you think it is inappropriate for a beauty pageant? If you think beauty pageants are all about perfections, then I am sorry to say, it is not like that. I am happy that Steve, such a spontaneous and wonderful personality (one of my favourite personalities as well) asked me such a question that I could be myself on the stage and I got to showcase one of my big talents. After that, I was feeling so comfortable and I knew whatever I will do, I will enjoy the process. So, I am happy Steve asked me the question,” she said.

    While Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi, Allu Arjun's Pushpa, and Hollywood biggie Spider-Man: No Way Home turned out to be huge money-spinners at the box-office this year, Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has been declared the most successful film of the last two years. Also featuring Saif Ali Khan & Kajol in pivotal roles, the Om Raut directorial was released in January 2020 and earned around 280 crore in the domestic market with a gross collection of Rs 3.67 billion ($49 million) worldwide.

    Produced by Ajay Devgn, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar, Tanhaji was declared a blockbuster upon its release and turned out to be the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2020. 
    Sharing his views on this achievement, Ajay Devgn told IANS, "Tanhaji was special because it stayed true to the patriotic spirit, it had superb dialogue, it had awesome performances from Kajol and Saif Ali Khan. And I put in my sincere efforts."
    He added, "I’m so happy this unsung warrior got his due at the Indian box-office and got appreciated globally as well".
    For the unversed, the period film was set in the 17th century and shared the story of warrior Tanhaji and his fight against Udaybhan Singh Rathore (played by Saif Ali Khan) to recapture the Kondhana fortress. Neha Sharma, Sharad Kelkar, and Luke Kenny were also a part of the movie.

    Coming back to this year's releases, Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi touched the Rs 195 crore mark while the overall collections of Pushpa and Spider-Man: No Way Home have already crossed the Rs 200 crore mark. Featuring Rashmika Mandanna as the leading lady, Allu Arjun's Pushpa has done a business of Rs 219.68 crore till now with over Rs 60 crore coming from its Hindi version.
    On the other hand, the New Year weekend helped Spider-Man: No Way Home in hitting the 200 crore mark despite coronavirus restrictions and competition from Pushpa and Ranveer Singh-starrer 83.

    KL Rahul, who led the Indian cricket team into the second of three Test matches against South Africa on Monday did not have the greatest inning with the bat. However, his manners were absolutely on point when he apologised to pacer Kagiso Rabada for causing him inconvenience.
    In the fifth over on the first day, Rabada was going to deliver his second delivery when Rahul stopped him in the middle of his run-up, just as he was about to throw the ball. As soon as the batter’s hand went up, he apologised to the bowler and to the wicketkeeper.

    The extremely powerful stump mics once again did their work and caught the whole incident on audio. “Sorry KG,” said Rahul right before turning around and doing the same to Kyle Verreynne, who replaced Quinton de Kock as the keeper after he announced his retirement  in the middle of the series.
    Rahul’s innocence and gentleman-like quality impressed the viewers instantly and the video of this exchange quickly went viral on social media.

    However, toward the end of the video, the umpire Marais Erasmus, could be seen telling Rahul with a stern voice to “try and be a little quicker please KL” as the batter walked out of his crease and evened out a crack he saw on the pitch.
    Earlier in the day, the commentators and fans were extremely surprised to see Rahul walking down to the center of the Wanderers cricket ground for the toss instead of Virat Kohli. After winning the call and choosing to bat first, Rahul explained the real reason why Kohli could not make it for the toss and that he will not be playing the entire second Test because of suffering from a back spasm.
    Having said that, he also clarified that Kohli’s injury should recover by the time the third and final Test match of the series takes place at the Newlands cricket ground in Cape Town.
    KL Rahul has been in brilliant form over the last couple of weeks and had himself an absolutely incredible first match of the series during which he put up 123 runs in the first inning. Even in the second match, while the rest of the team struggled to get runs, it was the skipper who struck a half-century to raise the total over 200 runs for the Proteas to chase.
