Days after the makers of RRR announced they will not be postponing the release of the high-budget movie featuring who’s who of the South and Bollywood, they have finally decided to postpone the release date. It was scheduled to release on 7th January but makers decided to push it seeing the rising numbers of COVID and Omicron cases.
The production house DVV Entertainment has announced that they are forced to postpone the movie seeing the current scenario. The post read, "Keeping the best interests of all the involved parties in mind, we are forced to postpone our film. Our sincere thanks to all the fans and audience for their unconditional love #RRRPPostopened #RRRMovie"
View this post on InstagramThis announcement has resulted in people getting angry and calling it an overrated movie. There were a few people who requested the makers to release it on OTT platforms. There were people who said they will be waiting for the new release date.

Not just this, the makers had to refund all the money that came from the advance booking. As per reports, a staggering amount of approximately Rs 10 crore had to be refunded. It’s obviously a huge setback to the industry.

At an earlier press conference, producer DVV Danayya had disclosed that the budget ranges from Rs 350 to Rs 400 crore. It is indeed an insane amount for RRR, which is set in the pre-Independence era in the 1920s. RRR will mark SS Rajamouli’s first film after the huge success of the Baahubali series.

It is a fictional story of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR, respectively. The movie also features Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles.
    Here’s the trailer:

“This will be a fictional story on the lives of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. There are gaps in the lives of these legendary freedom fighters that we don’t know about. We don’t know what happened in their lives in these years. It is through this fictional story we’d like to show what could have happened in their lives and what would have happened if they met and bonded,” Rajamouli had said at the film’s launch in 2019.

We think it’s a good decision to postpone the movie as the cinema goers would be able to enjoy it more when there’s no fear of COVID and Omicron.

Former Indian cricketer and commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar decided to share his knowledge of batting with the Test captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli, with the hopes of the skipper listening to him and putting some effort into his footwork in order to stop getting dismissed quickly and manage to stay on the pitch for longest innings.
In the first of three Test matches in South Africa, Kohli managed to get dismissed by giving up an outer edge for either a caught behind to the wicketkeeper or the fielder standing at slip. This isn’t the first time in an international innings that a ball was delivered to Kohli away from the off-stump with the intention of having him step out and go for the shot he loves the most - the cover drive.

During the first four matches of the India-England Test series which is scheduled to resume in June this year, Kohli was dismissed in a similar manner all five times that he went on the pitch to bat for. Pacemen James Anderson and Ollie Robinson were specifically the ones getting their way with him by doing the same again and again.
A veteran of 37 Tests, and 74 ODIs who scored 2043 and 1994 runs in the two formats, respectively, Manjrekar feels he has found where the Indian skipper is going wrong with his batting technique and has offered his thoughts on fixing it.
WOWWWW! @jimmy9 gets Kohli first ball and Trent Bridge is absolutely rocking!

According to the 56-year old analyst, Kohli’s habit of lunging on the front foot, regardless of the kind of delivery coming his way, is coming in the way of his success with the bat. Here’s where Manjrekar wishes Kohli to tweak his game a little bit and add some backfoot movement to his batting arsenal in order to become less predictable and open himself to play more versatile shots in the future.
Unlike the common belief that can be found on social media, which is asking Kohli to simply let go of the balls coming outside of the off-stump, Manjrekar says that playing some of his shots on the back foot would give him more room to operate, even in that area and runs would continue to flow in for him.

India head coach Rahul Dravid has lavished praise on Test skipper Virat Kohli for the way he conducted himself and kept the team’s morale high despite “a lot of noise” after his alleged fallout with the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.
“I know there's been a lot of noise on other issues a little bit, outside of the group, even leading into this Test match, but honestly, in terms of keeping the morale high, it's not been very difficult because, to be honest, it's been led by the skipper himself,” Dravid said during the virtual press conference on the eve of the second Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.
"On and off the field, Virat Kohli has truly been a fantastic leader and a really good captain, so that's really helped in creating a really good space" - India head coach Rahul Dravid#SAvIND
    — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) January 2, 2022
“I think Virat has been absolutely phenomenal over the last sort of 20 days that we've been here - the way he's trained, the way he's practiced, the way he's connected with the group,” he added.
Kohli has been in the headlines for various off-field controversies off late. His explosive press conference where he publicly contradicted the BCCI chief before leaving for South Africa had raised many eyebrows.

Many fans and pundits were afraid that this unnecessary off-field chatter could affect the atmosphere inside the dressing room but, according to the former India skipper, nothing of that sort has happened and he credited the current red-ball leader for ensuring that the team’s focus remained solely on the upcoming challenge.
“As a coach, sometimes, leading into the series, you know that there's not really too much you can do once the game starts, or there's not too much you can control in the results. But what you're really looking to do as coaches or as support staff, we're looking to prepare well and get the team into a really good space.

“And Virat has been phenomenal in that - the way he's led the team, he's been absolutely, truly a leader, and I couldn't speak more highly about him and the way he's committed to his own preparation, his own practice, and also just the way he's connected with the group over the last two weeks.
“On and off the field he's truly been a fantastic leader and a really good captain, so that's really helped in creating a really good space. I felt we were in a really good space leading into the first Test match, and a lot of that was led by Virat and his leadership really came to the fore. It's not been hard, it's been a pleasure to work with someone like Virat, he's been a phenomenal leader, and even personally I think that he's in a really good space.”

Before ‘The Wall’ was appointed as India’s new head coach, a large section of fans on social media were worried that given their contrasting personalities Dravid and Kohli might have a clash of opinions and struggle to form a cordial working relationship, eventually affecting the dressing room atmosphere.
In reality, things have been completely opposite. Both the batting greats admire each other immensely and one can already see the ‘special bond’ that they have formed already. As fans of the Indian cricket team we just hope that they both continue to help each other on and off the field and take Indian cricket to new heights.

Ranveer Singh's 83, directed by Bajrangi Bhaijaan fame Kabir Khan, was released during the Christmas weekend and has turned out to be a disappointing affair at the box office. In the first week of its release, the film collected Rs 71.87 crore at the domestic box office, however, much more was expected from it.
Due to the delay in the release of Shahid Kapoor-starrer Jersey, 83 is getting the benefit of another open week. But, the biopic of former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev had very low footfalls in the first week.
    View this post on Instagram
According to boxoffice india only around 38 lakh tickets of 83 were sold in the first week of its release which is lower than the first-week footfalls of Shah Rukh Khan's flop film Zero, co-starring Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Yes, you read that right!
Reportedly over 39 lakh tickets of Zero, directed by Aanand L Rai, were sold in the first week. Well, this speaks a lot as SRK's 2018 film turned out to be a big flop. However, we should also keep in mind that 83 released amid the Omnicron scare while Zero hit the silver screen in 2018, way before the coronavirus pandemic struck the world.
While trade experts think that the high ticket rates of 83 contributed to its failure, the film would have witnessed even lower collection in case of the lower ticket prices.

List of the footfalls of Bollywood films made on a budget of Rs 200 crore or more:
Tiger Zinda Hai - 3.09 crore
    Padmaavat - 2.34 crore
    War - 2.16 crore
    Bharat - 1.61 crore
    Sooryavanshi - 1.25 crore approx
Thugs Of Hindostan - 1.12 crore
    Zero - 69 lakh
    83 - 38 lakh approx (1 week)

In the second week of its release, 83 got the benefit of the New Year and is yet to witness a big drop. On January 1, the film did a business of Rs 7.73 crore taking the total collections to Rs 83.96 crore. However, it is still facing stiff competition from Spider-Man: No Way Home and Allu Arjun's Pushpa.

The biopic also features Deepika Padukone, Saqib Saleem, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harrdy Sandhu among others in crucial roles and each of them has earned acclaim for their performance. For the unversed, Vicky Kaushal too was supposed to be a part of 83, however, he chose not to sign the film. Reportedly, he was initially approached to play the role of cricketer Mohinder Amarnath and he even auditioned for the part. But, then Raazi was released and turned out to be a huge hit. While Kabir Khan was keen to have him on board, the actor decided to not play the second lead in the film. At last, the makers roped in Saqib for the role.

With the Indian cricket team taking out South Africa in the second of three Test matches of the ongoing series, the BCCI held a press conference on Sunday evening during which the media members were to ask the team members some questions about their strategy and play-style among other things.
However, journalists and the fans of the Men in Blue felt a bit disappointed when the red-ball skipper of the team, Virat Kohli failed to show up to answer their questions first-hand. The head coach of the squad, Rahul Dravid was the only person who was present for the virtual meet and did his best to not let the media members go away empty-handed.

Obviously, one of the questions that were instantly on everyone’s mind was ‘Where is Virat Kohli?’ and Dravid responded to that query by suggesting that he had absolutely no control over which conference would the skipper show up for and which ones he won’t.
However, ‘The Wall’ did confirm that Kohli will be present for the conference which will take place ahead of the third and final match of the series, which would also happen to be the 33-year old’s 100th match in the longest format of the game.

Being the gentleman that Dravid is, he even asked the media members to celebrate Kohli’s monumental occasion with him when he does show up ahead of his 100th Test.
"There is no specific reason for that (on Kohli skipping). I don't decide this but I am told he will be speaking on the eve of his 100th Test and we hope you celebrate that. And you can ask him questions about his 100th Test,” he said at the virtual press conference.

Winning the first Test match against the Proteas at Centurion was a big achievement for Kohli as he became the first-ever Indian skipper to win a Test match in the stadium.  Furthermore, the fact that one of the five days got washed out due to rain and the Men in Blue still managed to defeat the hosts by 113 runs showed the kind of brilliance with which they played.
With a 1-0 lead in the series already, Kohli and Co. need just one more victory or a draw in the rest of the two matches in order to win their very first Test series on South African soil ever since the inception of international cricket in India. After the squad won back to back Test series in Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21, South Africa remains the only country where Team India hasn’t won a series yet.
