"PM met every member but [did] not have time for the ICON of Karachi," Liaquat complains on Twitter prior to meeting

While cinema has evolved with time and controversial topics are easily accepted today, one can only imagine the ordeal of a filmmaker who wanted to narrate his tale back in the 70s or the 80s. That golden period gave us some great action and romance, but here are three controversial movies which stood the test of time and stirred up quite a storm:
1. Aandhi- Just like its name, this political drama stirred up a storm in the nation. The plot follows a female political leader who shared an uncanny resemblance to former PM, Indira Gandhi. The films explored various topics like her estranged relationship with her husband as well. While the makers maintained that they had just copied her look and rest was fiction, they had to remove and edit a lot of things after it didn’t go down well with the supporters of a political party. Certain scenes like the political leader shows smoking and drinking in the middle of an election campaign and in fact the film faced a complete ban during the national Emergency.
2. Kissa kursi ka – This movie was helmed by MP Amrit Nahata and was basically a full blown satire on PM Indira Gandhi and her politician son Sanjay Gandhi. The movie was banned during the Emergency and the prints were also destroyed after being confisticated. The movie starred Shabana Azmi and Utpal Dutt.
3. Garm hawa- Another movie which ruffled the feathers of controversy in the country was based on a story written by celebrated Urdu writer Ismat Chughtai. The backdrop is the 1947 independence period and this movie tells a deep tale of a Muslim man who is in an emotional battle of heart and mind about leaving his homeland in India and moving to Pakistan with his family. The movie realistically captures the religious angst and was put on hold as communal violence was perceived to be one its repercussions.

After the success of his last release Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor is in the best phase of his career. While his next film, the Hindi remake of Nani-starrer Jersey is slated to release on 31 December, he has already started shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar's upcoming thriller. The actor has also signed an action film titled Bull in which he will be seen as a paratrooper.
The project marks Shahid's reunion with producer Bhushan Kumar after Kabir Singh. A month after making an official announcement regarding the film, the makers have now locked its release date as well.

Speaking about the release date in an official statement, T-Series head-honcho Bhusan Kumar said, "Bull is an ambitious project and one the biggest action movies coming out of T-Series stable, we continue to reassure audience's long standing romance with the silver screen with this release. The makers will start principal photography next year. Along with Bhushan Kumar, Garima Mehta and Amar Butala are also bankrolling the project. Both the production houses, T-series and Guilty By Association (GBA), have teamed up for the very first time to produce the actioner. Its screenplay has been penned by Parveez Shaikh and Aseem Arrora.
Cast:Apart from Shahid, the makers are yet to announce the names of other actors who’ll be a part of the action extravaganza.

It is raining superheroes again! Just today, Marvel Studios released the new full trailer of the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home film featuring Tom Holland, in a fashion that got fans super excited.
© Marvel Studios
But wait! There is something else that Marvel reportedly has in store for all the fans. As you all know, with the Eternals and other upcoming movies as part of the MCU Phase 4, Marvel has been open to introducing newer characters to the movies. Guess what? It's not just the new characters that are coming to the fold.
As per reports, Marvel has roped in Hugh Jackman to return as 'Wolverine' in the upcoming MCU film, Dr. Strange 2, which has Benedict Cumberbatch.

It's not like we've not been seeing Benedict's Dr. Strange at all. I mean, he's pretty much at the center of the whole 'opening the multiverse' thing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which might also lead to the older Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield coming back. But to have Wolverine back, especially in the MCU, will be a big, big plus for Marvel head Kevin Feige.
Hugh Jackman is one popular superstar amongst fans, mainly due to his portrayal as the rugged superhero in the X-Men series. In fact, he was so good that 20th Century Fox actually made a whole Wolverine franchise out of him.

However, Hugh decided to retire from the role after doing Logan in 2017. As per reports, however, Marvel has convinced him to come out of retirement and play the hero again, in a new MCU universe, rather than the Fox one. It is said that Jackman will make a cameo as the superhero in Dr. Strange: Multiverse of Madness, which will be released in 2022.
The movie has faced many unexplainable delays and it was even reported that star Benedict has been working “six days a week” on reshoots for the film. However, it is now said that the delay in shoots was probably because of Jackman's availability issue, with the reshoots being a part of just that. While Marvel has failed to confirm or deny the reports, seeing by what they've done with the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the Spider-Man movie, this could very well be something familiar.
Anyway, only time will tell and for now, we can only hope.

The much-awaited official teaser of Akshay Kumar's upcoming film Prithviraj was released on November 15. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Ashutosh Rana, and Sonu Sood. Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar will be making her Bollywood debut with the film. Akshay Kumar plays the role of King Prithviraj Chauhan, while Manushi will be seen in the role of his wife Sanyogita.

Talking about the teaser, Akshay said, “The teaser of Prithviraj captures the soul of the film, the essence of the life of the legendary warrior Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan who knew no fear. This is our tribute to his heroism and his life. The more I read about him, the more I was awed by how he lived and breathed every single second of his glorious life for his country and his values.”
Elaborating about his character, he went on to add, “He is a legend, he is one of the bravest warriors and he is one of the most upright kings that our country has ever seen. We hope that Indians worldwide love our salute to this mighty braveheart. We have tried to present his life story in the most authentic way possible and the film is a homage to his unmatched bravery and courage.”
Here’s the teaser:
The teaser has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons as people didn’t approve of the fact that a 54 years old Akshay is romancing 30 years younger Manushi. It is a very common sight to see older Bollywood actors romancing young actresses, who are almost half their age. It’s 2021, and it's about time that this issue with Bollywood is also addressed.
People are not okay with this cast and have been slamming Akshay Kumar and the makers for carrying a stereotype forward.

However, this isn't the first time something like this has happened. 52-year-old Akshay Kumar romanced 29-year-old Kriti Sanon in Housefull 4. Khiladi Kumar will be next seen opposite 24-year-old Sara Ali Khan in Aanand L Rai’s Atrangi Re.
Last year, actress Dia Mirza addressed the prevalent ageism and sexism that exists in the film industry. In an interview, she talked about how younger actresses are cast opposite older actors but older actresses don’t get enough work.
