Content is king! That's really what the entire pandemic has taught us. Back when cinema halls were shut due to the social distancing curbs of the Covid-19 crisis across the world, major filmmaking industries who relied on box office numbers, had one hell of a tough time making movies. This was unlike the case of OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, and others who actually thrived during the testing times.
    Β© iStock
People no longer needed to step out of their homes as they binged on movies, TV series, documentaries within the comforts of their homes, without having to pay almost ransom money for popcorn & a glass of Pepsi. One actor that was integral to kickstarting the OTT revolution in India was Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who with his terrific performances in Netflix's Sacred Games, turned people's heads from cinema screens to TVs, laptops, and phones.

    Β© Netflix
The huge success of Sacred Games was basically in direct relation to stellar acting and good storyline, proving that good content always gets appreciation. Soon after, there was a sudden influx of more content-oriented films and television series, with people expecting Nawazuddin to go on to star in many OTT shows and movies in the future. This was until now when the hugely talented actor disclosed that he has quit OTT platforms for good.

    Β© BCCL
Stating his reason, Nawazuddin said that he has been increasingly displeased with how the content in web series is continuing to get diluted as time goes by.

Labeling it as a whole new 'Dhanda', Nawazuddin said, β€œThe platform has become a dumping ground for redundant shows. We either have shows that don’t deserve to be seen in the first place. Or sequels to shows that have nothing more to say. When I did Sacred Games for Netflix, there was excitement and challenges around the digital medium. New talent was being given a chance. Now that freshness is gone. It’s become a dhanda (racket) for big production houses and actors who are now so-called stars on the OTT platform. Major film producers in Bollywood have cut lucrative deals with all the big players in the OTT field. Producers get whooping amounts to create unlimited content. Quantity has killed quality.”
He went on to say that he does not enjoy even watching it, blaming the whole star culture of Bollywood for ruining the focus on good content.
β€œWhen I can’t bear to watch them, how can I bear to be in them? Yeh star system bade parde ko kha gaya (this star system killed the big screen). Now we have so-called stars on OTT claiming big money and throwing tantrums like Bollywood A-listers. They forget. Content is king. Woh zamana chala gaya. When stars ruled. Before this lockdown and the digital domination, A-listers would release their films in 3,000 theatres across the country. People had no choice but to see them. Now they have unlimited choices.” he said.
Well, in all honesty, he's not completely wrong, considering that it looks like there is more focus on making more than making better content. All we can do is hope that Nawazuddin reconsiders his decision and is a part of new, good content-oriented projects because even if Nawazuddin is ready to bid farewell to OTT platforms, we clearly are not.

While my favourite pastime would nowadays be to simply pick up my phone and scroll my feed till my thumbs start aching, for a lot of others, it is going one step further and dropping horrible and insensitive comments on pictures and lives of those in the limelight...just because they can and enjoy the protection of anonymity.
The work of a trollΒ is simple. They log on with their free wifi and drop unsolicited insults and demeaning comments on celebrities with no regard to their mental health, simply projecting their own toxicity on others.Β

    via GIPHY
And while Bollywood stars have accepted getting trolled as a part and parcel of their lives, their kids definitely deserveΒ better.Β
Trolling star kids simply because their personal lives are as exposed as their parents’ isn’t just insensitive, it is torturous.Β
Here are a few star kids who have been brutally trolled on social media over the years, just because they were born to famous actors:
    1) Aryan Khan Β© Twitter
Shah Rukh Khan’s son, who recently got detained by the NCB in connection with the cruise drug bust case, was the recent victim of incessant trolling on social media.Β

As the 23-year-old was sent to Arthur road jail until his bail plea was accepted, Aryan was thrashed online mercilessly as people sensationalised every piece of information about him.Β
    2) Sara Tendulkar Β© Twitter
Daughter of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Sara too has been at the receiving end of a lot of online hate, that too for no fault of her own.Β

A fake account on the microblogging site Twitter in the name of Sara posted a tweet which read, β€œEveryone knows that Sharad Pawar NCP looted Maharashtra state but little known that he tried centre too (sic).”
And within a few moments, a barrage of trolls came at her.Β
It was only when Sachin Tendulkar clarified how none of his children are on Twitter, that the heat died down.Β
    3) Alaya F Β© Alaya F
Actress Pooja Bedi’s daughter who starred in Jawani Jaaneman alongside Saif Ali Khan has also often been trolled on social media, since before she stepped foot in the film industry.Β

Trolls would come at her for her bold pictures, lifestyle choices and even criticised her for getting a lip job done, despite her denying any such claims.Β
She felt she was being watched constantly and demeaned for everything she was doing, which is rather sad.
    4) Suhana Khan Β© Suhana Khan
Not only Aryan Khan, but his sister and SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan has also been on the end of a lot of flak and hate on social media for absolutely no reason at all.Β

From dissing her for her looks to her choice of clothes, trolls have even come at her for wearing dresses with necklines that they called β€˜too revealing’, when she was just a kid.Β
From calling her a β€˜bad Muslim to moral policing her for her life choices, she has been shown a lot of dissent over the years.
    5) Taimur Ali Khan Β© Twitter
The little kid who is only 4-years-old was not only being chased by paps for photographs but was also being trolled when he wasn’t even a year old.Β

After his parents Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor announced his name as β€˜Taimur’, the infant started receiving a lot of flak on social media for being named after a tyrannical conqueror.Β
The trolling and online hate had escalated to such a level and for a little child at that, that the couple even considered changing his name to β€˜Faiz’ for a bit.Β
    6) Nysa Devgn Β© Nysa Devgn
Daughter of Kajol and Ajay Devgn, Nysa was also not left far behind when it came to showing resentment towards star kids.Β

Trolls came after her this one time for simply wearing a skirt that was short, calling her out on being promiscuous when she was all of 14-years-old.

Cristiano RonaldoΒ is arguably the greatest footballer of all time. Thanks to his massive fan-following, anything he does ends up making a huge headline. Ask Coca Cola.
    Β© Reuters
The giant beverage manufacturers reportedly suffered a massive loss of $4 billionΒ after the Portuguese star removed two Coca Cola bottles during a pre-match press conference ahead of their Euro 2020Β opening group match against Hungary in June this year.

The whole world took note as Ronaldo kept the bottles aside and urged everyone to drink water instead of carbonated drinks.
Do NOT put Coca Cola in front of Cristiano Ronaldo

    β€” Goal (@goal) June 15, 2021
Following in the footsteps of Manchester United forward, Australian opener David WarnerΒ also tried to repeat the same thing during the post-match press conference after his side registered a comfortable seven-wicket over Sri Lanka to notch up their second consecutive win in the ongoing T20 World Cup.Β

However, when Warned tried to slip the soft drink bottles under the table, he was stopped then and there and was asked to put them back at their place.Β
Prior to the Sri Lanka match, the last months were very tough on Warner. He was going through a rough patch for quite some time and came into this tournament after a dismal IPL season with SunRisers Hyderabad.Β
    Β© Twitter/SRH
He was stripped of his captaincy dutiesΒ and was, eventually, dropped on the benchΒ in this year’s IPL after just a couple of poor outings in the second leg.Β

The 35-year-old opener, however, turned things around on Thursday when he scored a match-winning half-century, helping his side chase down the 155-run target against the Island nation quite convincingly.Β
As much as he made headlines with his on-field heroics, his actions at the post-match press conference left him embarrassed as he was asked to put the bottles back.
β€œCan I move this?” Warner asked.
β€œDo I have to put it there?” he said, when asked to place the bottles back on the table.
β€œIt’s good enough for Cristiano, it’s good enough for me. That’s right,” said the Australian southpaw as he put the bottles back.

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media and is getting mixed reactions.Β Β
Some are praising Warner for showing guts and sending a strong message while others are making fun of him after he was forced to return the bottles back to their actual place.Β

β€” yuvi (@Yuvi_FCB) October 28, 2021Β Things might not have gone down for Warner as he intended it to in the presser but one thing did go his way is that he found his form back.Β Β
Australia would be hoping that he continues with the same form and keeps winning matches for them.Β

The cruise ship drug scandal that had Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan KhanΒ right in the middle of it, took another turn when the young star kid was finally released on bail by the Bombay High Court.
    Β© BCCL
However, with the whole Bollywood industry filled with glamour, money & fame, this is not the first time that a Bollywood celebrity has had a run-in with drugsΒ  with many actors actually even heading off to rehab centers for addiction with either drugs or alcohol or both.

Let's take a look at some prominent personalities from B-Town who actually went to rehab centers
    1. Sanjay Dutt Β© Twitter
Sanju Baba was at the peak of his career when he was entangled in a lot of problems that included drug addiction. The continuous limelight, being reportedly addicted to cocaine and heroine, along with the fact that he was constantly in and out of prison only added to his problems.Β

He was later sent to a rehab center in Texas, America. The highly popular actor actually stayed there for a period of two years before coming back to India.
    2.Β  Kapil Sharma Β© BCCL
One of the most famous comedians, actors, and television personalities in India, Kapil reportedly got hooked on alcohol, which later on started affecting his career as well.

With his professional and personal life both in turmoil, he resorted to going to a rehab center to get rid of his addiction to alcohol.
    3. Yo Yo Honey Singh Β© Twitter
There was a time when Yo Yo Honey was the most popular rapper in India, however, despite his success, the Bollywood singer's addiction to drugs and alcohol put his whole mental health and career at risk.

He soon stopped attending award functions, parties, and every other function, and later went to rehab. It was his manager who later confirmed that the rapper was in really good shape after spending some proper time in the rehab center.
    4. FardeenΒ  Khan Β© Twitter
Fardeen KhanΒ is one of the most prominent Bollywood actors who was arrested by the police on charges of doing cocaine.

Soon after that, he was sent to a rehab center in order to fully recover from his addiction to drugs.
    5. Prateik Babbar Β© Instagram/Prateik Babbar
The actor did not have the easiest of childhoods, having lost his mother at the time of his delivery. Prateik's addiction to drugs and alcohol started in school and went on till college, after which he was sent to several rehab centers in order to get rid of it.

"What started as experiments with marijuana and hashish, developed into an addiction to cocaine and acid," he had said in an interview earlier.
    6. Manisha Koirala Β© Twitter
One of the most popular actresses at a time in Bollywood for her films like A Lovestory, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Mann, and others, Manisha, unfortunately, got deeply addicted to alcohol.

The addiction not only harmed her career but her body as well. Later she had to go to rehab for it.Β Β

Call it the difference of opinions or pressure of high expectations that parents put on their kids, children often find their relationship getting distant with their parents, as they grow up.Β
Especially a father-son relationshipΒ is such that the two are more prone to get into a disagreement or fight and drift apart more and more with time.
    Β© Eros International
While it’s totally natural and normal, you should mend things before they get too serious. This kid who wants his PS4 back from his dad who has not been speaking to for two months would vouch for it.Β

A teenager sought suggestions on Reddit on how to break the ice with his father to get the PS4 back from his dad who had confiscated it.Β
    Β© Peppermint Studios
He wrote, β€œI'm a guy and I don't talk to my dad a lot. 19, in college. Not IIT, so obviously I've disappointed him. Thing is, I want to enjoy this time and he has my PS4, which he hid in his 'office' during my jee preparation. Now I need it and don't know how to talk to him about it. Any tips? Context, we don't speak a word to each other and haven't for the last ~2 months.”

    Β© Eros International
Here is how other desi kids who have β€œbeen there done that” came up with hilarious solutions.Β

    1. β€œGo like, Hey dad, I am in Love with someone, she is the love of my life and I want to marry her. When he gets mad, say, "I'm just kidding, chill. Can I get my PS4 btw?"
On a serious note tho, try and be confident and express your reasons why you need it. Be reasonable, you would know his triggers better than us, so avoid them. And make sure he is in a good mood while doing that.
    Β© Dharma Productions
    2. You go and ask him? Say you want to see if you can sell it or something… then say not many people want to buy it as ps5 is out.

    3. Talk to him about work, how's work going? What's new? Hoe much you earn? Etc. Dads become surprisingly easy to talk if you talk about work, try this for 2-3 days and suddenly drop " Btw PS4 kaha gaya?"Β
    Β© Dharma Productions
    4. β€œYou can ask for a PS5 , I am sure he is gonna bring back the conversation to PS4.”

    5. β€œAs someone who has a terrible relationship with their father, just break in and steal it.”
The things you do for a PlayStation!
However, there was one person with a sensible and helpful suggestion who said, β€œI think you have a greater problem than retrieving your PS4 which you should prioritise and try solving. I get that your situation might not be ideal but worth giving it a shot.” Maybe it was his dad with a fake id.
    Β© Dharma Productions
Anyway, we hope these helped and he got his PS4 (or at least his relationship with his dad) back.Β  Β

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan had been dealing with one of the toughest phases of their lives as their son Aryan KhanΒ was detained by NCB in connection with the possession of drugs. He was on a cruise from Mumbai to Goa when the raid took place. For a mother, it can be heart-wrenching to see her son not being around and spending days in jail for not even consuming drugs.
    View this post on Instagram
Time and again, his bail was getting rejected and Gauri wasn’t able to process it at all. She was expecting him to come back and every day, her hopes were getting crushed. Now that he is coming back home, she might be feeling relieved but her health has deteriorated in anticipation. She has been reportedly under a lot of physical and emotional stress amid Aryanβ€˜s arrest.Β
    View this post on Instagram
A family friend told Bollywood Hungama, β€œShe has stopped eating almost entirely. She prays a lot. She doesn’t communicate her grief (about her son’s arrest) with anyone. Our fear is that she may suffer a nervous breakdown due to the emotional and physical stress that she has been subjected to during the past month.”
She went on to add, β€œShah Rukh Khan is taking Aryan’s prolonged confinement far better than Gauri. She is not being able to cope with the enormity of her disappointment. She has stopped meeting friends completely and spends her time crying and praying.”
Another source revealed, β€œShe has started to despair. She is losing hope. β€˜Will I ever see him again?’ she asked a friend on the phone.”
    View this post on Instagram
Now that he has been granted bail, Gauri can finally breathe a sigh of relief.Β
Not just Gauri, SRK too was worried about his son’s well-being.Β Former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, who represented Aryan in HC, told NDTV that Shah Rukh Khan cried 'tears of joy' after the verdict. Rohatgi added that SRK had 'given up all professional activities' during this time. β€œShah Rukh Khan has been extremely worried the last few days that I was there. I am not even sure whether he had proper meals. He was just having coffee after coffee. I could see a big sense of relief in the father's face the last time I met him,” said Mukul Rohatgi.Β

Fans are celebrating Aryan’s bailΒ and can't wait for him to come back home today.
