    One of the most iconic superheroes in the DC universe is now officially a member of the LGBTQ+ community.  Present-day Superman, Jon Kent, will be seen embracing his bisexuality in Superman: Son of Kal-EL #5.

    If you haven’t kept up with recent developments in the DC Universe, then let us update you. The Superman we grew up with, Kal-el urf Clark Kent had passed on the famous mantle to his son during the Future State events. With the OG blue-caped crusader out of the picture, the Superman: Son Of Kal-El run focuses on the young Jonathan Samuel Kent. In an interview with IGN, writer Tom Taylor revealed, "I think Clark said it best when he left Earth in Jon’s hands. Clark was the Superman of tomorrow. Jon is the Superman for the days after."

    Jon is exactly how you’d expect Clark Kent and Lois Lane’s offspring to be. Still only 17-years old, the current ‘Man of Steel’ bears a teenage resemblance to his father but possesses the firebrand grit that his journalist mother stood for. The new Superman understands that the world he has inherited is different from the one Clark Kent guarded. While Kal-El as Superman had his rogues gallery of villains to battle, Jon takes on more serious and realistic threats to our world in 2021.

    Taylor says, "The question for Jon (and for our creative team) is, what should a new Superman fight for today? Can a seventeen-year-old Superman battle giant robots while ignoring the climate crisis? Of course not. Can someone with super sight and super hearing ignore injustices beyond his borders? Can he ignore the plight of asylum seekers?"

    The decision to unveil Superman as bisexual wasn’t done lightly either. In fact, it has been a long time in the making according to Taylor, "Over the years in this industry, it probably won’t surprise you to hear I’ve had queer characters and storylines rejected. I felt like I was letting down people I loved every time this happened"

    Thankfully, times are different now. Diversity of identity is accepted and appreciated, and Taylor believes that time was ripe for a major comic book superhero to represent the LGBTQ+ community, "We are in a very different and much more welcome place today than we were ten, or even five years ago. When I was asked if I wanted to write a new Superman with a new #1 for the DC Universe, I knew replacing Clark with another straight white savior could be a real opportunity missed. I’ve always said everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their heroes. Today, Superman, the strongest superhero on the planet, is coming out."

He is a Gammoran refugee who Superman rescues from a school shooter. According to BBC’s reports, Jon and Jay get together after the 'Man Of Steel' faces serious physical and mental burnout from trying to rescue everyone that he can.

    Jay Nakamura isn’t expected to be just another damsel in distress though. He comes with his own superpowers, as per Taylor, “What was most important was making Jay Nakamura formidable in his own right. Finding the balance in their relationship so they could be equals rather than having Jay be too reliant on Jon. This is why Jay’s own powers are revealed in issue #4, and we learn he can’t be harmed. That means, of everyone in Jon’s life, Jay is the only person Jon doesn’t need to protect. It means their relationship is an equal one built on mutual support."

    Artist John Timms is hopeful for Jon Kent’s future as Superman, "It is a pretty big deal doing it with Jon Kent as Superman. As we have seen Jon grow up in front of our eyes, it will be interesting to see him not only trying to find himself as a person but a global superhero in the complex atmosphere of modern life. On the other hand, I hope this kind of thing will not be seen as a big deal in the future. You could visualize how it could pan in the future when the most powerful man in the world is part of the LGBT community. So many things are on the horizon and beyond."
    Difficult times demand a new breed of heroes, and Jonathan Samuel Kent is a Superman who could be just that. The new Man of Steel may even overshadow the legacy of his famous father.

    As Mahendra Singh Dhoni is just one match away from bagging his fourth title in the Indian Premier League, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has revealed exactly how much money he will be earning as the Indian cricket team’s mentor during the T20 World Cup 2021 which is bound to begin later this month.
    In conversation with ANI on Tuesday, Shah revealed that the former Indian skipper has decided to provide his expertise to the Men in Blue for a total cost of “absolutely nothing”. That’s right, Captain Cool has agreed to mentor the fully loaded Indian squad during the upcoming World Cup tournament but will take no fee from the Indian cricket board.

    “MS Dhoni is not charging any honorarium for his services as the mentor of Indian team for the T20 World Cup,” BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said to ANI.
    Eventually, the BCCI president also confirmed this news while speaking to the Press Trust of India when he said: “Dhoni will not charge anything to mentor the Indian team.”

    ‘Team Mentor’ is not an official role that the Indian cricket team holds. However, it was created specifically for Dhoni because of his history of winning every single ICC tournament at least once and his instinct which has helped him become one of the most successful skippers this team has ever seen.
    Shah even spoke about the exact moment when Dhoni and he discussed the possibility of having him be with the squad for the entirety of the tournament and how the retired international cricketer agreed to be of assistance almost instantly.
    It was stated by Jay Shah, Sec of BCCI that MS Dhoni wouldn't charge any honorarium for his service as mentor to Indian team at The ICC T20 World Cup-21.

    “He was okay with my decision and agreed to be a Team Mentor of Team India for the T20 World Cup only. I am glad that MS (Dhoni) has accepted the BCCI’s offer and he is keen to contribute to the national team once again. MS will work closely with Ravi Shastri as well as other support staff to provide support and direction to Team India,” Shah said.
    When asked about whether the Indian head coach, Ravi Shastri was consulted before bringing Dhoni onboard, Shah added: “I spoke to the captain and vice-captain, as well as Ravi Shastri. They all are on the same page, so that’s why this matter has reached this conclusion.”

    Despite losing his attractive annual contract with the Indian team the same year he announced his retirement, Dhoni remains one of the richest athletes in the country and all of Asia, thanks to his IPL salary, numerous endorsements, and business ventures he runs. 
    Even then, the fact that he agreed to share his invaluable experience with the team for absolutely no fee goes on to show his patriotism and selflessness.
