Life is Strange: True Colors is the latest game in the drama genre that emulates the script of many Netflix shows and combines interesting gameplay for an entertaining experience. Deck Nine Games have taken over the reins of the Life is Strange franchise and in many ways, the developers have done a great job. However, True Colors still has performance issues that broke the immersion and made me realise that this game could be great if it was more polished. Completing the game after 10 hours, here’s what I think about Life is Strange: True Colors.
    The Story © Square Enix
The game is set in a small mining town where your character Alex Chen has moved her entire life to live with her brother. Chen, being a recluse, takes her time to get used to her new surroundings and the new people she gets introduced to. Just as she starts to settle in the town, her brother Gabe dies due to a very shady event. Here’s where I have my first major problem; the narrative rushes into major events on Alex’s very first day in Haven. I would have preferred to spend a little more time with the main characters to be a bit more invested with the main story. I even remember my exact reaction to Gabe’s death: “Ok, what’s next?” I never got enough time to get attached to Gabe and his death didn't have much of an impact on me.

Anyway, Alex starts investigating Gabe’s death to find out what went wrong. It leads her to investigate the mining company 'Typhon', which happens to be the largest corporation in town and has a firm grip over its people for many reasons. I won’t go into it further as it will spoil a lot of the story but you get the gist of it.

However, I do have to say that the narrative felt quite unoriginal and it has some major pacing issues. At times, the story feels dragged on for no reason and then there are times that the narrative is being rushed. Even the main plot feels like something I’ve seen before on Netflix or HBO and could predict most of the revelations with ease. The only saving grace for the story is its characters who have more depth than any of the characters we’ve seen so far in the series.
Don’t get me wrong, I may have seen the story somewhere before but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t experience it. There’s still enough mystery in the narrative that warrants at least one play-through. There are times when the game won’t be afraid from making you emotional or frustrated due to the circumstances in the story. If you’ve always wanted a game that somewhat resembles shows like Mare of Easttown or Stranger Things, this may just be it. Just think of Alex being a detective in a small who also happens to have a superpower.

True Colors is much like previous Life is Strange games where you interact with the world and explore the small city similar to previous titles in the series. However, what’s new here is Alex’s ability to visualise an emotion and feel what the person in front of her feels. It sort of works like a mind-reading ability where Alex can identify how a person feels and make them feel better by bearing the emotion as well. The gameplay is by far the highlight of the game which feels even better when playing with a DualSense controller. Each time you interact with an emotion, the left trigger has different levels of resistance to represent how strong the emotion is.

Alex's powers also go a step further where she can also interact with objects that have emotions attached to a particular character to solve their problems or help them go about their day. For example, my favourite part in the game was when Alex helped an elderly lady who has dementia. She scanned her entire flower shop by feeling what the lady was feeling and helped her remember what she was doing in the store. The gameplay also significantly changes after the third chapter where Haven has been turned into a LARP (Live Action Role Playing) playground.

PlayStation 5 Performance I played Life is Strange: True Colors on the PlayStation 5 where, for the most part, the game looks gorgeous. Deck Nine Games has crafted a highly detailed city where you genuinely feel as if you’re in a small town in the USA. Character models look highly detailed and are the best I’ve seen yet in a LIS game.

Having said that, the game does have some serious frame rate issues especially when you are exploring the city and open areas. There were a lot of stuttering issues as well that made me feel slight motion sickness. Other visual issues include random polygon/texture pop-ins during cut-scenes that broke my immersion on many occasions. Since True Colors is a narrative-heavy game, these visual discrepancies can be a nuisance.

I also noticed Alex Chen going into ’T Position’ many times right after a cutscene which made me laugh each time. These issues can be fixed with an update soon as none of them is deal-breaking in any way. At the time of writing, these graphical issues persist throughout the game and I recommend experiencing True Colors once it has been fixed.

The Final SayLife is Strange: True Colors is yet another narrative-heavy drama title in the series that lacks original storytelling and logical narrative pacing. Alex’s powers do add a layer to the story that could have been interesting, however, it’s held back with a story that you may have already seen before in a Netflix show. I recommend experiencing the 10-hour story after the developers have fixed many of the visual issues or, when the game is offered at a reduced price.

Long before the world of social media came into existence, and the ‘woke’ generation took notice of so many things which are now considered wrong but were passed off as ‘normal’ without blinking an eye-lid, we all were innocent victims of ignorance in terms of what we defined as a ‘love story’ or a romantic movie as per clichéd standards.

The 90s was a wonderful era in Bollywood where so many new progressive movies were being made, but one perennial theme which was huge back then was the genre of stalker movies. Here are 6 hits which glorified ‘ek tarfa pyar’ with a tinge of bloodshed and stalking:
    1. DarrNo one does a killing streak of stalking the hell out of a human like SRK. Rahul’s crazy one-sided love for K-kkk-Kiran is scary and eerie and this movie was a big hit which got Shah Rukh in the limelight like nothing else.

    2. AnjaamAnother SRK hit where this time Mr. Agnihotri is stalking an air hostess played by Madhuri. His obsession converts into love and this psycho lover stalks the woman of his dreams and hurts her husband in order to get her.

    3. GuptAfter playing the lead in some big hits, Kajol surprised her fans when she turned a fanatic obsessed with her ‘bachpan ka pyar’ Bobby Deol who is marrying Manisha. The movie revolves around a person on a killing spree who turns out to be her!

    4. DaraarThis romantic thriller has Arbaaz Khan, who also won an award for this movie, play a psycho lover who is obsessed with Juhi Chawla. This movie is a classic Abbas-Mustan recipe so it doesn’t disappoint with the thrills.

    5. JeetThe ‘dhai kilo ka hath’ courtesy Sunny Deol is one of the leads in this love triangle starring Karisma Kapoor and Salman Khan. I still like dancing to Yaara Oh Yaara.

    6. DastakAnother movie glorifying stalker antics was this debut movie starring Sushmita Sen and the stalker lover was wonderfully played by actor Mukul Dev. His acting skills were commendable and he did a fine act playing a psycho lover.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is really kicking things up with the release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the Eternals, which will see a huge and whole new Avengers like team-up in November across the globe.

Now, while Marvel obviously explores a whole new list of comic characters for their films, they are also in line to touch upon or revamp some older franchises, at the heart of which remain some really strong superhero characters. Movies like Fox's Fantastic Four series have truly been one of the things that MCU has been looking to revive, and well, there are a few others as well.

Now, we have news that should clearly excite Marvel fans. Disney just updated its release schedule for the year 2024, where four new "untitled Marvel movies" will be launched on February 16, May 3, July 26, and November 8.

We already know that we are going to see the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in 2023, so all in all, there are a few exciting superheroes that could finally come up in the cinemas for MCU, and we decided to list who they could be.

    1. Deadpool 3 © 20th Century Fox
The Ryan Reynolds starring Deadpool franchise was an immediate hit with the foul-mouthed mercenary anti-hero doing everything that the fans wanted in the Superhero universe. With Deadpool 2 releasing back in 2018 under the Fox banner, its takeover by Marvel will now see Deadpool make its debut in MCU's Deadpool 3, giving the superhero an opportunity to form an alliance with a whole new list of superheroes under Marvel.

Reynolds as well as the makers of the film have been positive that the film will finally start filming at the end of 2022, paving the way for a release in 2024.
Wouldn't it be cool to see a Deadpool and Spider-Man alliance just like in the comics?
    2. Fantastic Four © Twitter
It would be an understatement to say that Fox's attempt at reviving the Fantastic Four series in 2015 was a failure. The movie that starred Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan really sucked, so much so that they scrapped all plans of a sequel to it. Well, this was till Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox.

According to reports, Fantastic Four, one of the most iconic superhero alliances in Marvel comics is considered a very important element in the MCU future and well, we will very well see the franchise be revamped under Disney.
It's already no news that fans want husband-wife actor duo John Krasinski and Emily Blunt for the roles of Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman.

Well, the movie could definitely be the project slated for release in 2024 and would be one to look out for.
    3. X-Men  © 20th Century Fox
So many times, so many things have gone wrong with this franchise. It almost seems like the original X-Men film along with Hugh Jackman's portrayal as Wolverine in the movies through the years, have been the only good things about the Fox film series.

However, now that MCU gets a say on X-Men, it could truly be the biggest thing to have happened since the Avengers. Why? Well, unlike the Avengers which had a core team of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Captain America, the X-Men have far too many renowned superheroes.
It's a universe in itself and to represent it on the big screen, one really needs to do justice to it, because so far, the attempts have really been very poor. Marvel Studios, which has now become an expert in handling superhero franchises (barring Black Widow, perhaps), will look to do just that with X-Men and we could see that happen in 2024 for sure.
    4. Blade © Twitter
The Blade movie series starring Wesley Snipes as the Vampire hunting 'Dhampir' (a human with vampire strengths but not their weaknesses) was one hell of an entertaining franchise. However, the last film in the series was released in 2004, and we have been left waiting as to when we will see the beloved comic character on the screens again.

Well, fans' pleas were finally answered in 2019, when Marvel announced the reboot of the series at Comic-Con 2019 with Mahershala Ali confirmed in the lead role as Blade. In February of this year, it was announced that Watchmen's Stacy Osei-Kuffour would come on board as the writer for the film which will be directed by Bassam Tariq.
This could really be the final film that we could see as part of Marvel's 2024 calendar year.
Certainly doesn't look like a bad line-up at all, if you ask me.
    © 20th Century Fox
We'll get vampires, mutants, and loudmouth assassins who love munching Chimichangas!
