6 Hindi Stalker Thriller Films From The 90s Which Were Toxic Tales Of ‘Ek Tarfa Pyaar’

Long before the world of social media came into existence, and the ‘woke’ generation took notice of so many things which are now considered wrong but were passed off as ‘normal’ without blinking an eye-lid, we all were innocent victims of ignorance in terms of what we defined as a ‘love story’ or a romantic movie as per clichéd standards.

The 90s was a wonderful era in Bollywood where so many new progressive movies were being made, but one perennial theme which was huge back then was the genre of stalker movies. Here are 6 hits which glorified ‘ek tarfa pyar’ with a tinge of bloodshed and stalking:

1. Darr

No one does a killing streak of stalking the hell out of a human like SRK. Rahul’s crazy one-sided love for K-kkk-Kiran is scary and eerie and this movie was a big hit which got Shah Rukh in the limelight like nothing else.

2. Anjaam

Another SRK hit where this time Mr. Agnihotri is stalking an air hostess played by Madhuri. His obsession converts into love and this psycho lover stalks the woman of his dreams and hurts her husband in order to get her.

3. Gupt

After playing the lead in some big hits, Kajol surprised her fans when she turned a fanatic obsessed with her ‘bachpan ka pyar’ Bobby Deol who is marrying Manisha. The movie revolves around a person on a killing spree who turns out to be her!

4. Daraar

This romantic thriller has Arbaaz Khan, who also won an award for this movie, play a psycho lover who is obsessed with Juhi Chawla. This movie is a classic Abbas-Mustan recipe so it doesn’t disappoint with the thrills.

5. Jeet

The ‘dhai kilo ka hath’ courtesy Sunny Deol is one of the leads in this love triangle starring Karisma Kapoor and Salman Khan. I still like dancing to Yaara Oh Yaara.

6. Dastak

Another movie glorifying stalker antics was this debut movie starring Sushmita Sen and the stalker lover was wonderfully played by actor Mukul Dev. His acting skills were commendable and he did a fine act playing a psycho lover.
