Veteran actor and filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who turned 72 recently, has seen many ups and downs in his career. From being a struggling actor to facing financial difficulties to battling throat cancer, the man has had to fight many battles.

In 2006, Rakesh Roshan’s son Hrithik Roshan and his ex-wife Sussanne Khan appeared on Simi Grewal’s chat show and spoke about Rakesh Roshan’s financial troubles and how there was a time when he wasn’t even able to pay house rent.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Hrithik Roshan (@hrithikroshan)
He said, “Until the time my dad could earn enough money to buy another house. And then we shifted into another house which was barely just walls and floors. We slept on gaddas, these mats, and slowly got the furniture in.”
The actor expressed that he was only 9 at that time.
In 2017, Rakesh Roshan spoke about how he struggled when he was trying to make a career in acting. He said, “As an actor, I was not that successful but I kept trying. I never moved ahead in my career despite some of my movies doing well. So I started producing films and then moved in that direction. Now, when I look back I feel happy. Back then, I had no idea how I will get the money to run my house. I had two children, a wife, and a family to look after. But somehow we always managed. Maybe God had a plan for me to become a producer and director.”

Rakesh Roshan further added, “He was always closer to his mom. I was struggling to make my mark at the time, so I could not spend much time with my children. But I would make sure we went on holiday. I would join them just for about three or four days. Growing up may have been tough for them because I could not give them everything as I couldn’t afford it. But I made sure I brought them up really nicely.”
However, now the tables have turned for the Roshan family.

After Sidharth Shukla's sudden demise on Thursday, the nation was left in a state of disbelief.

The actor, who was known for his stint in Bigg Boss 13 and was an established star of the Indian Television industry, passed away at a very young age.
Several celebrities came forward to console his friends and family and joined the nation in mourning the loss of a beloved star and an incredible person.
On Monday, though, actor Saqib Saleem called out the media and the paparazzi in a post for their 'insensitive coverage' of Sidharth's demise. Many celebs questioned the culture, including Kriti Sanon and Gauhar Khan and now, Saqib has come forward lashing out at those who have 'created this circus'

In a long post, he said, "Have been meaning to talk about a few things for the past couple of days. The last few days have been really hard on a lot of us. Though I didn't know Sidharth Shukla personally but somehow the loss seems personal. Such a young good looking man just gone suddenly.. Can't even imagine what the family must be going through.”
He further called the media 'vultures' and said, "Have been watching videos of the funeral and my heart broke as to how insensitive we have become. Everything has become content for us.”

Sidharth's rumoured Shehnaz Gill was also present at the time of the funeral but was hounded by the media. Not just that, her pictures and videos were shared on several social media pages, which infuriated people as well.

Saqib said, "I get the fact you need to click pictures, that's how portals run but n the process you have become vultures. Sticking a camera to someone’s face has to be one of the most inhuman things one can do..You want to click a picture pls do..but give people the space to grieve. I saw a video of Shehnaaz getting out of the car and hundreds of cameramen/photographers hounding her.”

He also mentioned that actors are to be blamed for this. "We (actors) have created this circus. We give these photographers access to our lives. From telling them what time we go to the gym, to what restaurant we eat at. Telling them our flight schedules so that they can come and click a picture and put it out. They charge a fee to do that and we happily pay them. This has been going on for a while but what this has done is that it's made them look at us as an Instagram post. I am writing this to remind all of us life is beyond all of this."

Saqib lambasted the media for taking the camera closer to Shehnaz as she was grieving. He finally concluded the post by offering his condolences to Sidharth's family.

Sidharth was cremated in Oshiwara with this family and friends in attendance.
On the work front, Saqib Saleem will be seen in Time To Dance and 83 in 2021.

There is no denying the fact that Shardul Thakur is quickly emerging as one of Team India’s most trusted and dependable all-rounders, especially in Test cricket, which only adds to his value in the rest of the formats of the game. However, to compare him with someone like the all-time great Kapil Dev, and that too this early in his career, seems a bit premature.

So when Sports Tak Managing Editor Vikrant Gupta asked former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar about his thoughts on the similarities between Thakur and Dev, the little master gave a befitting response.

“When Shardul Thakur was picked in the team, the idea was to make him do a little bit of batting and a little bit of bowling. We used to think of Hardik Pandya as the next Kapil Dev but Shardul Thakur’s performances in Brisbane and this (London) Test match, has been important,” Gupta said while making a case for the all-rounder to win the Man of the Match award at the end of the fourth Test at The Oval cricket ground.
“Absolutely, he is a good bowler and contributed significantly for the team while batting at the number 8 spot. You saw his performance in Brisbane, Gabba and here as well. Every team needs such a player who can bowl, field and bat.” Gavaskar started his side of the discussion while acknowledging the incredible display with bat and ball that Thakur put on in the first and the second innings.

“But a lot of people would have to take birth before we get another all-rounder like Kapil Dev. In my opinion, that (having another Kapil Dev) is absolutely impossible,” the former Team India opener substantiated his thoughts of comparing Thakur and Dev.
Having said that, if it wasn’t for Rohit Sharma striking an incredible 127-run second innings, the Man of the Match award clearly belonged to the 29-year all-rounder. With India struggling to put a decent total in the first innings, Thakur not only stopped the bleeding of wickets but also added 57 important runs to the first innings total.

He would then go on to pick a crucial Ollie Pope wicket before hitting another half-century in the second innings and dismissing English opener Rory Burns and in-form batsman Joe Root on the final day of the clash.
For the first time in 14 years, the Indian cricket team will have the opportunity to win a Test series in England as they head to Manchester with a 2-1 lead for the fifth and final match of the series. Another win or a draw would mean that they would have a series win over two of their toughest competitors, Australia and England, on foreign soil in a single calendar year.

WhatsApp currently has a dead giveaway for other people to see when you were last online. While you can turn off this feature for everyone on your contact list, WhatsApp will be giving users more control over their online activity on the messaging app.

You probably aren’t comfortable showing everyone that you were awake until 3 AM the previous night which is why the instant messaging app will be making it a lot easier for users to manage their privacy.

According to WeBetaInfo, a new privacy tool is coming that will let users control who exactly can see details of your profile. Apart from controlling your “Last Seen” information, users will also be able to limit their profile picture and status from specific contacts. Currently, this information can either be seen by everyone, your contacts only or no one at all. Now, WeBetInfo has found that the instant messaging app will be giving far more control to users. In the future, users will have the ability to exclude specific contacts from seeing your personal details.

With this, you can hide your “Last Seen” info, your profile picture and other personal details from specific contacts you’re not comfortable sharing the information with. This comes in handy when you don’t want your boss, colleagues or other contacts to get a glimpse of your personal life. Having said that, much like how it worked previously, this feature will work both ways. If you hide your personal details from a specific contact, you won’t be able to see the same information of that person either.

The new feature was spotted on a beta build of WhatsApp for iOS. The feature is slated to come sometime soon and will be available for all smartphones. It remains to be seen when WhatsApp will officially roll out the feature but it surely will be a welcome addition. This feature will not only help keep your life private, it will also prevent potential abuse and stalking from malevolent users.

Do you think this upcoming WhatsApp feature will help you in hiding personal data from your bosses or strangers? Let us know in the comments how you plan to use this feature when it rolls out in the near future.

India’s first-ever Olympic gold medalist in the javelin throw event, Neeraj Chopra has become so much more than just that. Ever since his return home, he has become a symbol of hope, excellence, and the primary example of being comfortable in his own skin.
In a video recently shared by Instagram user s.s.r_insta, the elite athlete can be seen attending a live event, which may or may not be after his achievements at the Tokyo Olympics. During the event, one of the media members asks Chopra what he would be doing at the moment had he not picked up the javelin and decided to become a professional athlete.

Without thinking twice, the humble and smiling 23-year old says: “Kuch nahi karta, gaon mein bhaison ko dande marta… aur toh kuch nahi ji (I wouldn’t have done anything else, probably still be in my village working with the bulls… nothing else).”
Once again, the Panipat-born’s natural charisma was enough to have the fans completely mesmerised by his simplicity, and here’s how a few of the viewers reacted to the video:

While the Olympic gold medal may have been the catalyst for making the casual fans of Indian athletics take notice of the extremely talented and gifted athlete, it is his humble nature and unfiltered way of living his life that has managed to capture their attention even today.

Previously, there have been multiple instances where Chopra has attended an event and asked the hosts or the audience members to talk to him in Hindi.

This is special simply because, in this day and age, where not being able to speak in English is considered a weakness, Chopra has been portraying that communicating in one’s mother tongue is nothing to be ashamed of and is rather empowering, to say the least.
It is great to see that Indian athletes (and not just Indian cricketers) are getting this level of attention while not having to change their personalities or getting involved in any kind of controversy.

However, the javelin thrower’s name has already been used in the India-Pakistan rivalry, even when Chopra had no intention of demeaning his competition from the other side of the border, Arshad Nadeem.

A day after the Indian cricket team celebrated taking a 2-1 lead in the series against England on foreign soil with an incredible 157-run victory at The Oval cricket ground in London, media reports of Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri attending a public event in the city last week have created a massive stir in the dressing room.
During the fourth Test match of the series on Sunday, Indian head coach Ravi Shastri was tested positive for Covid-19 which is quite prevalent in the United Kingdom at the moment. Bharat Arun and R Sridhar, Team India’s bowling and fielding coaches, respectively, got their positive results on Monday.
The BCCI is learned to be peeved with Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli for attending public events in London last week. (Reported by TOI).
    — Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) September 7, 2021
However, ever since the news broke, leaked images of Shastri along with Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara attending a public event in London - reportedly a book launch - have found their way to the internet.

These pictures have also been submitted to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who are livid with the head coach and the captain, according to a report shared by The Times of India.
“The board will probe the matter. This incident has left the board embarrassed. The coach and the captain will be asked to explain the circumstances after the fourth Test at Oval. The team’s administrative manager Girish Dongre’s role is also under the scanner,” a source close to the BCCI told TOI.
“The BCCI is in touch with the ECB and trying to ensure the series is completed without any further incidents. As of now, everyone is hoping that Shastri recovers soon. There is a selection meeting for the T20 World Cup on Wednesday. Maybe the matter will be raised there,” the official added.
But why only from Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli? Every player attended that book launch pic.twitter.com/tNQ6hiqUeD
    — INDIAN CRICKET TEAM (@virat_kohli9) September 7, 2021
Such a careless stunt would not only have endangered the health of every single person who was involved in the series, including the English side, it would have brought the entire series to an abrupt end while taking away India’s chances of winning a red-ball series legitimately after 14 years.
While the source of Shastri contracting the virus is still not confirmed, many believe that he may have gotten it from his hotel’s lift, which is used by other guests at the institution as well. However, the likelihood of getting infected at an unmonitored public event also remains high.
According to TOI, Kohli and Shastri attended a crowded event without the permission of ECB or BCCI.

Considering the breach in the bio-bubble, the Men in Blue are expected to enter a harsher bubble in Manchester, where the fifth and final Test match of the series will take place from September 10th onwards.
Team India’s quarantine period does not seem to get over any time soon as the second leg of the Indian Premier League season is set to begin five days after the fifth Test concludes at Old Trafford. This means that the team will have to fly to the United Arab Emirates with practically no rest time after a grueling five-match series and potentially enter another bio bubble upon reaching Dubai.

A biotech company that is researching how to reverse the ageing process has received major funding from former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. The report comes from MIT Tech Review and says that Altos Labs is a research company that is already hiring scientists with offers of $1 million in annual salaries.
MIT Tech Review reports that Bezos was among its investors along with Russian-Israeli billionaire Yuri Milner. The company will also be adding Nobel Prize-winning scientist Shinya Yamanaka to the advisory board. For perspective, Yamanaka has already won a Nobel Prize for research in reversing the age of cells.

Other scientists that will be joining the company include Juan Carlos Izpisúa Belmonte who has previously worked on pig and human DNA combinations. We still don’t know what Altos Labs is specifically researching and it still remains a mystery.

However, from what it looks like, Altos Labs could be working on immortality as biological reprogramming is a practice that aims to reprogram human cells. This is also not the first time Bezos has funded anti-ageing research. The former Amazon CEO funded Unity Technologies in 2018 which was also looking at anti-ageing therapies.

MIT Tech Review claims that Altos Labs primarily focuses on human cell reprogramming where they add proteins to a cell that essentially instruct them to revert to a stem-cell-like state. Scientist Shinya Yamanaka already demonstrated the technique in mice around nine years ago. "Although there are many hurdles to overcome, there is huge potential," Yamanaka told MIT Tech Review in an email.

Spanish researcher Manuel Serrano told the MIT investigators: "The aim is to understand rejuvenation. I would say the idea of having revenue in the future is there, but it’s not the immediate goal.”
According to MIT Tech Review, Altos Labs was formed after a two-day conference on anti-ageing biotech at the Palo Alto mansion of Russian investor and tech mogul Yuri Milner.
Do you think Jeff Bezos wants to live forever with his latest investments in anti-ageing research groups? Let us know what you think and whether immortality is possible, thanks to this research.
