Any yo-yo dieters in the house? What haven’t you tried?
No carbs before vacation. More protein in your routine.
Butter coffee and avocados, juice detoxes, zero belly fat challenges, apple cider vinegar every morning, empty stomach (don’t get me started on the acid reflux it gives) and extreme celeb-endorsed fads.
Whether your goal is to bulk up or slim down, diet and workout have played the lead roles in your life. If your direction skills are in place, you can get some amazing results with this pair.
But if you’re stuck in a loop of result-less diets, it’s probably because of some popular myths that we’re about to debunk.
Myth 1: Eat More Often To Boost Your MetabolismWhen we eat we do in fact increase our metabolism through the thermic effect of food (TEF). Now, what is TEF? It’s the energy used to digest the food. Whatever energy we consume in the form of nutrients, around 10% of it is used for digestion.
So by eating more often, we stimulate more TEF. But it also means that there’s a good risk of eating more food. This is where the argument fails.
When two or more people consume the same diet, studies have shown that the amount of TEF burnt remains the same regardless of the number of meals.
When you look at the bigger picture, how many times you eat becomes less important and what you eat takes the centre seat.
Here’s something to get you started—fewer calories, more energy.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2464__
__ECOMPRODUCT__1725__
Myth 2: Skipping Breakfast Can Lead To Fat GainSkipping breakfast doesn’t kickstart your metabolism, which is why you burn fewer calories and gain fat. That’s a popular opinion.
However, intermittent fasting—in which you go through periods of 16 hours without eating and only eat within an 8-hour window—has challenged this belief to some extent.
Our metabolism doesn’t operate on one meal. Your weight loss results depend more on your daily calorie intake and less on one meal or number of meals.
Although, not having breakfast can affect your ability to focus and make you feel grumpy. So we would encourage you to start your day with a healthy breakfast.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1578__
Myth 3: Frequent Meals Help Maintain Blood Sugar LevelsThe claim seems very logical—keep eating constantly to stabilise energy levels. By eating more frequently, you can avoid feeling hungry too. Makes sense on the surface but let’s dig a little deeper.
Our bodies are perfectly capable of regulating blood sugar levels, thanks to homeostasis. It’s the capacity of the body to maintain the stability of internal variables, such as temperature, body fat, blood sugar levels and acidity.
If you’re perfectly healthy, it is unlikely that your blood sugar levels fluctuate. In fact, recent studies have shown that subjects who ate 3 meals have greater blood sugar control as opposed to ones who took 6 meals per day.
__ECOMPRODUCT__2465__
Myth 4: You Go Catabolic Without Frequent Protein Intakes Protein is the key to maintaining and promoting muscle growth. But if you don’t consume protein for a few hours, will your body start eating away your muscles? Not really.
The more you eat, the longer it takes for your body to digest. A typical meal takes 5-6 hours to get digested. So while you’re preparing to eat lunch at 2:00 p.m., your body is still digesting the heavy breakfast you had at 9 a.m. Your muscles are not starving.
Focus on the overall intake of protein, based on your body weight. The only time a ‘starvation response’ kicks in is after 3-4 days of very low calories.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1697__
Myth 5: Your Body Can Digest A Limited Amount of ProteinMany people believe that our bodies can only digest certain grams of protein at once, the rest gets wasted. But this isn’t true.
One of the best ways to understand this is by looking at our ancestors who went through times of feast and famine. They didn’t face any issues while eating large amounts of meat or other forms of protein at once.
Protein takes longer to digest and it gets used with time. Even if you have consumed “extra” protein, your body will continue to release amino acids into the bloodstream and it will get absorbed by your muscles.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1062__
The BottomlineOur body is used to breaking down and storing nutrients in a consistent cycle, on a day-to-day basis. The timing of your meal has relatively little effect on your overall metabolism. So a healthy bedtime snack is okay as long as it fits in your daily calorie budget.
Dispel myths that can block your progress and continue to invest in physical activities for better results.

Apple has announced the date for its next major event where the Cupertino giant usually launches the new iPhone, Apple Watch and other services. We’ve all heard that Apple will be launching the iPhone 13 series and some of its features have leaked throughout the year. However, closer to launch, we have got more information about the upcoming iPhone from the grapevine and we decided to list some of the most important ones. Here are some of the most important iPhone 13 rumours that you should know before the official launch:
Four Different Models © Twitter/Sonny Dickson
According to rumour, Apple is expected to launch four models this year just like the iPhone 12 series albeit with slight differences this year. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 13 series in the following sizes - iPhone 13 Mini: 5.4-inch, iPhone 13: 6.1-inch, iPhone 13 Pro: 6.1-inch, iPhone 13 Pro Max: 6.7-inch. Apple is also expected to announce the iPhone 13 series in black and white colours besides new colours such as pink and "Sunset Gold.” The gold variant is expected to have more of a bronze feel and won’t be like previous gold iPhone colours.
Smaller Notch © Twitter/Duan Rui
Apple has not reduced the size of the notch that houses an array of sensors for FaceID since it launched the iPhone X. However, multiple leaks have suggested that Apple might be reducing its size for the very first time since it was introduced. Apple could also announce a model that does not come with a notch as something similar was spotted in an episode of Ted Lasso last week.
120Hz Display For the iPhone 13 Pro Series © Twitter/CameronD_Swift
It has been long rumoured that the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max will be getting a 120Hz AMOLED display. Apple has been testing the feature for a while and it seems like the Cupertino giant is finally ready to roll out the feature. The feature is said to be exclusive for the Pro variants where it will implement the same ProMotion feature as the iPad Pro. Essentially, the iPhone 13 Pro will push higher frames only when it needs to.

Speaking of the display, the iPhone 13 series is also expected to feature an always-on display similar to Android smartphones. However, rumours suggest that this feature will be fairly toned down and will only display the clock and battery status.
Satellite Communication The iPhone 13 series is rumoured to feature some form of satellite communication connectivity according to recent leaks. The feature is said to work even if you do not have a SIM card installed in the phone or do not have any network coverage. The feature will reportedly work only for emergency services in some parts of the world.

Much like with every iPhone each year, the iPhone 13 series is also expected to get new and improved camera features. For the Pro Models, however, it has been long rumoured that Apple will offer a higher quality option to record video called ProRes. Apple is also rumoured to announce a Portrait Video mode for the Pro models and new filters that enhance pictures via computational photography.

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is a pretty noted politician who often pops up on the news for a string of different issues, usually on the lighter side.
After joining politics, Tharoor became a part of several controversies as Twitter is his battleground.
Recently, during the Onam celebration, a meme-fest was started on Twitter due to Tharoor's action of breaking a coconut. However, the politician took it in his stride and even retweeted some of his favourite memes.

After the cultural programme by Doordarshan Srinagar for the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, I was persuaded to sing for the Members. Unrehearsed and amateur but do enjoy! pic.twitter.com/QDT4dwC6or
— Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) September 6, 2021
He has also been in the news for his impressive vocabulary which leaves everyone scrambling for a dictionary to look up the meaning!
Recently, the MP was in the news for singing an old Hindi song, ‘Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se’. Tharoor also tweeted, saying, "After the cultural programme by Doordarshan Srinagar for the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, I was persuaded to sing for the Members. Unrehearsed and amateur but do enjoy!"
Even though Tharoor thought his performance was 'amateur', his version of the old Hindi song moved people, however, it didn't go well with lyricist Javed Akhtar.
He took a dig at Tharoor's singing skills and also made fun of his accent.
Take a look.
He wrote, "Wow ! We have almost a similar song in Hindi too !!!"
Wow ! We have almost a similar song in Hindi too !!!
— Javed Akhtar (@Javedakhtarjadu) September 6, 2021
More than 4 Lakh people watched this video, and Akhtar's comment left everyone amused. Singer Srinivas Tweeted, “You just slay it every time Javed saab.” Even Raghu Ram had a good laugh at Akhtar's response.

Desi fans, however, didn't support Akhtar, rather called out his dismissive comment. Instead, they endorsed Tharoor for his confidence.
Javed sir, he must be credited for singing a hindi song being a mallu.
We can't even think of malyalam songs forget about singing.
— Avinash singh (@Avinash77288773) September 6, 2021 Very bad Javed Sahab. You are ridiculing Keralites efforts to adopt the National language. After Northern Command of troll army, you are inviting Southern Command also..
— Jazz_man (@Jazzman_The_Jas) September 7, 2021
But you got to give him his confidence, sporting spirit, and the sheer joie de vivre he has.. marvellous!
— Indranil Mukherjee, Author (@indranil9) September 6, 2021How would Javed Akhtar sound if he tried singing an English song sung by Michael Jackson or Elton John ! Definitely would be hilarious ! Shashi Tharoor was atleast enjoyable with his genuine effort !
— rash azi (@rashazi1) September 7, 2021Typical North Indian condescension! Javed Akhtar, I challenge you to sing one song from any South Indian language intelligibly
— CK Jaidev (@ckjaidev) September 6, 2021Not every joke, every witty retort needs to be a personal remark against you, your family, language, religion, etc. Maybe learn to take a joke and stop looking for a fight everywhere? And yes, @ShashiTharoor is a good sport, have to give him that!
— Bharat Ramakrishnan (@bharatpr87) September 6, 2021One comment read, "But you got to give him his confidence, sporting spirit, and the sheer joie de vivre he has.. marvellous!” while another one said, “He sounds sooo cute.. genuine effort real sport!!”
I also thought he was singing some English song
— @sanya (@Uroosahaidar) September 6, 2021Hahaha, that's correct!@ShashiTharoor sang in the " Duguna Lagaan dena padega" language.
— Krishnachandra Sharma (@krishnx) September 6, 2021This led to a long chain of comments.
Shabana Azmi also replied to trolls who tried to umbrage her husband. Reacting to the statement, she wrote, "And all those trolls just chill. Shashi Tharoor is a good friend and Javed’s remark was in pure jest !"

Javed Akhtar is a renowned scriptwriter and lyricist who has worked on some of Bollywood's hits, including Silsila, Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Na Ho, Gully Boy etc. Recently, he landed in trouble as he compared the Taliban and RSS. He said both share fascist idealogy, and the Taliban was "more empowered with weapons, but the view, outlook, and ideology are mirroring each other.”

Ever since Neeraj Chopra won the historic gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, his popularity has sky-rocketed to a whole new level, with brands lining up at his door to make him their brand ambassador.
The 23-year-old javelin thrower from Panipat, Haryana has become the new poster boy of Indian sports and more than 80 brands have already shown interest in striking a deal with him.
However, the association isn’t going to come cheap anymore as Neeraj’s brand value has gone through the roof, rising by an unprecedented 1000 per cent.
© Reuters
As per reports, Neeraj used to charge somewhere in the region of 15-20 lakhs per advertisement before the Tokyo Olympics. However, things have changed significantly since then as Neeraj is now expected to cost 10-times more than he did before.
Neeraj’s throw of 87.58m was one of the biggest glory moments in Indian sporting history. It was India’s first Olympic gold medal in athletics and only the second individual gold medal in the history of the quadrennial event.
© Reuters
After his historic performance, Neeraj has entered the league of top athletes in the country in terms of his endorsement fee. In fact, Neeraj is expected to charge around Rs 2.5 crore for each endorsement, which makes him the second-highest paid athlete in the country only behind Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, who makes in the region of Rs 1-5 crore for each advertisement.
“While we have requests from close to 80 brands, Neeraj has a limited number of free days between training camps in India and abroad over the next 12-14 months, so we have to be selective about signing on brands. These are multi-year deals which will run up to the Paris Olympics,” Mustafa Ghouse, chief executive of JSW Sports, told Economic Times.
© Reuters
What Neeraj has been able to achieve both on and off the field is great news for Indian sports. He has done what many top cricketers failed to do, challenge Kohli’s hegemony.
In a cricket-mad nation like India, it’s refreshing to see a track and field athlete challenging the hegemony of top cricketers, both in terms of brand value and popularity. It also shows that people are ready to look beyond cricket but for that we need many more athletes to excel at the international stage and make the whole nation proud like the way Neeraj did in Tokyo.
© Reuters
Not just Neeraj, weightlifter Meerabai Chanu, badminton star PV Sindhu, wrestlers like Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia captured the imagination of the country with their outstanding performances at Tokyo 2020.
© Reuters
They proved that there is no dearth of talent in this country and it is possible for athletes, other than cricketers, to look their opponents in the eye and even come out on top. But for that, the athletes need our love and support throughout their journey, just like how we always root for our cricketers whether they win or lose.

On the bizarre side of the internet, actor Salman Khan has filed a civil court case against Parody Studios Pvt Ltd and its directors, for using his likeness and image in their mobile game titled Selmon Bhoi. The name is alleged to be a clever play on ‘Salman Bhai’, a name used by the actor’s fans to fondly refer to him.
The memetically titled game Selmon Bhoi is alleged to have been based on an incident from the Radhe actor’s checkered past. In December 2015, Salman Khan had been acquitted of all charges regarding the infamous 2002 hit-and-run case. However, it seems like that incident hasn’t been forgotten by the public. Or at least by Parody Studios Pvt Ltd.
Responding in favour of the actor, the court has ordered for temporary restraint on access to the game. According to a PTI report, judge KM Jaiswal ordered Parody Studios Pvt Ltd and its directors to stop dissemination, launching, re-launching and recreating the game or any other content relating to Salman Khan.
View this post on Instagram
The court observed, “Upon watching the game and its images, it prima facie matches with the identity of the plaintiff (Khan) and to the hit-and-run case connected to the plaintiff."
DSK Legal filed the complaint on Salman Khan’s behalf, arguing that the phonetic resemblance between ‘Selmon Bhoi’ and ‘Salman Bhai’ cannot be ignored. They further argued that the in-game images bore a characteristic resemblance to the actor, even if it was intended to be a caricaturised version of the Bollywood star. In fact DSK Legal submitted a sub-judice before the court, stating that the Selmon Bhoi game went as far as recreating alleged events from the actor’s infamous ‘Hit-and-run’ case, as well as the ‘blackbuck case’.
Salman Khan’s legal team maintains the position that the defendant's actions remain firmly outside the purview of Article 19 of the Constitution of India. Parody Studios Pvt Ltd and its directors intentionally exploited the actor’s personality rights to gain commercial benefits, without his consent which has tainted his goodwill and reputation by publicizing inaccurate and misleading information.
The makers have also been instructed by the court to take down Selmon Bhoi off the Google play store as well as other platforms it is available on, effective immediately.
Is this just another case of art imitating real-life or have the makers of the game Selmon Bhoi taken a step too far? Do let us know in the comments.

The movie season is upon us and this year's list of movies couldn't be any better. Hollywood superstar Keanu Reeves is FINALLY making his return as the iconic 'Neo' in Matrix 4.
Titled Matrix: Resurrections, Village Roadshow Pictures, the production house behind the Matrix franchise, released a new teaser for the fans and well, let's just say, they sure would not be disappointed.
The one-and-a-half-minute-long teaser trailer begins with the display of the iconic green code on the screen with the narrator (sounds like Keanu himself) stating in the background, "This is the moment for you to show us what is real. Right now!"
The Matrix 4 teaser gives a trippy feeling as it shows actor Jonathan Groff (of The Mindhunter fame) before moving on to show Keanu's Neo character sporting long hair on a street, readying to fight against a large group of people, somewhat similar to the John Wick movies. The teaser then announces the release of the official trailer in a span of two days.
As much as we'd like a bigger scoop, this was something exciting in itself even if it came at the back of the teaser trailer that got leaked not so long ago. The fourth movie brings back Keanu alongside Carrie-Anne Moss in their roles of Neo and Trinity.
It also stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Jonathan Groff, Christina Ricci, Jessica Yu Li Henwick, and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Earlier, Priyanka had taken to Instagram to announce the release date of Matrix 4, ahead of the launch of the official trailer on Thursday, September 9.
View this post on Instagram
The post featured Matrix's two iconic red and blue pills, with the caption reading, "Yep! it’s almost time to take that pill... Trailer Thursday at 6 AM PT (6: 30pm IST). Go ahead and click the link in my bio to experience it yourself. The choice is yours!" If users click on either of the pills, it redirects them to two different realities.
If one clicks on the red pill, they come across a voiceover by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, where he says, "This is the moment for you to show us what is real but that couldn't be further from the truth. Could be this is the first day of the rest of your life but if you want it, you gotta fight for it."
On the other hand, if the user selects the blue pill, a voiceover by Neil Patrick Harris plays in the background where he says that 'one is having trouble distinguishing reality from fiction. Priyanka also went on to share a similar post on her Twitter handle as well.
And it’s almost time to take that pill!!!

Let's just say that, while we are excited to finally watch Matrix 4 in theatres this year, the idea of seeing Priyanka star alongside Keanu is truly remarkable. We CANNOT wait for this!
