Jasprit Bumrah took a break from cricket in March earlier this year and tied the knot with renowned sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan in a private ceremony in Goa. Before this year, not many people knew much about Bumrah’s relationship and were curious to know every little detail like how it started and what was their first impression of each other.
View this post on InstagramBumrah, who is currently spearheading India’s pace attack in England, sat down with Dinesh Karthik and spilled some beans about their relationship. Bumrah revealed that it all started during the 2019 ODI World Cup in England.
While things went smooth once they started talking to each other, the biggest problem was that no one wanted to initiate the conversation because both considered each other to be “really arrogant.”

“I had obviously seen her a lot of times but we had the same problem with each other. She thought I was really arrogant, I thought she was really arrogant so we never really spoke,” Bumrah told Karthik during a Sky Sports interview.
Bumrah was still new to international cricket but made rapid progress, establishing himself as an important member of India’s pace attack. Sanjana had also gone to England to cover the event as a broadcaster and that is when things started to blossom. They first became friends and then developed mutual feelings for each other.

“I spoke to her for the first time during the 2019 World Cup when she was here covering the event. We became friends and started talking a lot. It’s been good, we have been married for five months now, so yeah very happy,” Bumrah added.

Bumrah feels lucky that he has a life partner who understands the game well and knows how difficult it can be for players when things are not going their way.
View this post on Instagram“She understands the sport, she understands what the player goes through, so whenever things don’t go well or go well, we have a lot of interesting conversations, that really helps me. And, obviously, playing cricket and travelling all the time, you’ve got your wife with you now, so, you really have to focus on other things as well,” said Bumrah, when asked what are the benefits of having a partner who understands the nitty-gritties of the game.

Few actors have the command and grace over their expressions, the way Pankaj Tripathi does. One of the reasons why he’s cherished by scores of fans is no matter what role he plays, he still manages to add his own unique idiosyncrasies to the character. A gentle bob of the head, a subtle flick of the wrist. That’s all this incredible actor needs to convey his character’s intentions.
Pankaj Tripathi is an actor who’s definitely benefited from the OTT boom that we’re going through right now. Mimi, Ludo, Sacred Games, and Mirzapur have all been successes despite being launched on an ‘alternative’ medium. Since streaming platforms have become an ecosystem of their own, they have broken the monopoly of several ‘mainstream’ actors. This allows for a diversity of talent for the Indian audiences. Manoj Bajpayee is another actor who received long overdue appreciation of his talents thanks to his stint as Srikant Tiwari on The Family Man, a series distributed by Amazon’s Prime Video.

The internet has also overhauled the way we consume content for entertainment. We now have access to global content, breaking the regional dominance that existed previously. Increasing time spent on mobile phones and other screens mean that we’re more attuned to the minor details that may have gone unnoticed previously. There’s no social media platform that isn’t in on the fun. Sometimes these minor details spring memes and trends that end up going viral guaranteeing laughs across several platforms, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Reddit. You name it.
    View this post on Instagram
In an exclusive interview with The Indian Express, Pankaj Tripathi discussed how viral memes have the potential to weirdly influence the scripts he gets, “People making memes are very creative. They observe small things and give it a whole new interpretation. I noticed how I do it (neck movement) in the middle of Mirzapur’s shooting. I got a script for a TVC recently where it was mentioned ‘Tripathi’s signature nod here’ (laughs). I say if you ask for it deliberately, I can’t do it. It’s spontaneous.”
Kaleen Bhayya is a man in demand and deservedly so. We’re looking forward to more iconic characters from the incredible Pankaj Tripathi. More iconic roles matlab more fodder for viral memes!

From the outside, dating appears no less than a romantic movie filled with love songs and slow-motion kisses.

It seems to be all about romantic date nights, heartfelt confessions and steamy make-outs. It’s the time when you don’t have to third-wheel with your friends any longer or try to make small-talk with every girl you see at the bar.
    © iStock
However, the flip side to this near-perfect depiction of what love is in films, is that movies often fail to show just how much money is spent in sustaining all of this.

We are talking about the number of bills and expenses that keep piling up as soon as you start dating because now, you not only have birthdays and anniversaries to celebrate, but also spare cash for date nights, vacations, gifts and let’s not forget - Valentine’s Day. And from there. it doesn’t take long for your bank account to hit minimum balance.
However, that is not how it needs to be, especially with these tips to not go broke while dating a woman:
    1. Be Honest © Filmkraft Productions
It’s not necessary for both the partners to come from a similar financial background, and that is okay.

In fact, it’s better to be upfront about how modest you are when it comes to spending money because once that conversation is out of the way, you would not have to worry about being judged.
    2. Split The Bill © iStock
Men face a lot of pressure for taking care of bills when on a date. While that was okay back in the day when men used to be the only ones earning, things have certainly changed now.

The best way to not burn a hole in your pocket every time you go out is by proposing the practise of splitting the bill. This way, dates will be much more comfortable and economical.
    3. Plan Budget Dates © Dharma Productions
Not every date night or catch-up has to be in a fine-dine restaurant or the coolest club in town. Especially not if they cost you a quarter of what you earn in a month.

Try to get a little creative and plan date-nights either at home by cooking for each other, or perhaps by taking a stroll in a museum instead of a bar. Sometimes, simple things turn out to be far better than anything fancy.
    4. Keep An Eye Out For Those Discounts © iStock
This requires you to be proactive and play smart when needed.

Thanks to digitalisation, there are now several apps that tend to offer great deals when stepping out for a dinner or two. Keep an eye out for coupons or lucrative offers that might allow you to have a fancy meal at half a price and without getting robbed blind.
    5. Virtual Dates © Y Films
Perhaps an apt solution, especially during this pandemic where meeting your other-half physically is not as easy as it was before.

Rather than stepping out and spending money, another idea is to have virtual zoom dates (in moderation), where you both decide to catch up over a cup of home-made coffee and not always an expensive Starbucks.

In the final, Suhas gave the two-time world champion a run for his money and clinched the opening game but the Frenchman used all his experience and made an incredible comeback to win the next two games and take home the gold medal.

Suhas Yathiraj, has had a leg impairment since birth, but that didn’t stop him from excelling in any field -- be it studies or sports. He graduated from NIT Karnataka as a computer engineer, that too with a distinction and cracked the UPSC exam in 2007. He served as DM of Prayagraj, Agra, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Sonbhadra districts before being transferred to G.B. Nagar.
Journey From Hobby To Paralympics © Reuters
The 38-year-old IAS officer always loved playing badminton but never took keen interest and only played the sport as a hobby. However, things changed in 2016, when he was invited as a chief guest to inaugurate a local badminton competition and surprised everyone with his shots.

That very year he won a gold medal in his very first professional competition Asian Championship in Beijing and he has only grown from strength to strength. Next year, he won two gold medals (men’s singles and doubles) in Badminton World Federation Turkish Open Para-Badminton Championships in Antalya and followed it up with a men’s singles silver at Turkish Open in 2018.

He won several silver and bronze medals in various BWF events in Ireland, China, Denmark, Thailand, Uganda, and Japan in 2018 and 2019. The colour of his medal finally changed at the Turkish Open in 2019.

“I was a guest at the inauguration of the tournament and expressed a desire to participate. Until then it was a hobby for me as I had been playing badminton since childhood. I got a chance to play there and defeated state-level players,” Suhas had told reporters before leaving for Tokyo Paralympics, as quoted by Zee News.

He knew fulfilling his duties as a DM alongwith badminton practice was never going to be easy but he was ready to go the extra yard. He would finish his administrative duties by 10pm and spend the next two hours learning and fine-tuning his badminton skills for next six years.

“I practice from 10pm for two hours after all the day’s work is over. I have been managing my game and administrative duties this way for around six years now,” he said.

Everything is fair in love, war and Bollywood.
At least that’s how our filmmakers think. Bollywood is guilty of passing off problematic things like stalking and body shaming as romantic and funny in the name of entertainment. However, is it really fair? No.
    © Colour Yellow Productions
Glorifying toxic relationships and gift wrapping violent behaviour as ‘manliness’ is not cool and while we all loved these stereotypical characters in films growing up, as adults, it seems quite problematic.

    © Red Chillies Entertainment
Not just unhealthy relationships and toxic masculinity, Bollywood also has had a habit of normalising sensitive things like racism, bullying and even hurting the sentiments of queer community with its characters.

Here are some of the quintessential male characters we have seen in Bollywood movies which are simply problematic and promote the existing stereotypes about men:
    1. The Funny Fat Guy  © Reel Life Productions
This person is the sidekick of the hero and the butt of jokes the entire time. He is either thinking about food or is seen with food at the times while constantly telling people 'he’s on a diet'.

We have all laughed at him without realising that it is ‘fat shaming’ in the worst possible way.
    2. The Gay Best Friend  © K Sera Sera Private Limited
Every hot girl needs a 'gay best friend', according to Bollywood logic, who can give her lessons on shoes, bags and boys.

However, the characters are so stereotypically gay and weirdly portrayed that it’s offensive to the whole LGBTQ+ community.
Not all gay men, walk the Gaja Gamini walk and drool over anything in pants.
    3. The Macho Hero © Next Gen Films
The most problematic of all is the rowdy hero whose machoness oozes out from the sweat on his face as he kicks the villains into oblivion.

The ‘angry young man’ concept of Indian cinema only perpetuates the idea that men have to be violent, muscular and rowdy to look ‘manly’.
    4. The Patriarch © Dharma Productions
Amitabh’s ‘keh diya na, bas keh diya’ in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to Amrish Puri expecting  his wife and daughters to live on his terms in DDLJ, the desi dads in Bollywood movies have subtly fueled the patriarchal norms.

We need more feminist and cool dads like Bunny’s dad in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
    5. The Stalker Lover © Pooja Entertainment
Bollywood has glorified stalking as the acceptable way to approach and get the girl, but it is only problematic and wrong.

We loved Maddy in RHTDM and Kundan in Raanjhanaa but think about it, they were just creepy stalkers who lied, cheated and manipulated their way into the girl’s heart.
    6. The Goofy Geek © Yash Raj Films
Dear Bollywood, smart men, especially those with glasses, aren’t awkward but rather attractive and a catch, so stop showing them as losers.

Geeky men in movies are often bullied, called things like ‘double battery’ and ‘chashmish’ and shown as good-for-nothing nerds, until they are the main hero and get a makeover, of course (think Tarzan: The Wonder Car) but to tell you the truth, women dig geeks.

Break Ke Baad stars Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan in the lead role. The plot of the movie focuses on Abhay Gulati (Imran) and Aaliya Khan (Deepika) who are childhood buddies turned into lovers.

Aaliya is focused on becoming an actress and wants to make it happen irrespective of whatever it takes. Abhay is still unsure of what he wants to do with his life career-wise apart from carrying forward his father’s business. As they start growing up, they start facing differences due to their opposite personalities.

In the film, Aaliya is not ready for a commitment even after a decade-long friendship with Abhay. She gets annoyed when he follows her to Australia. However, she gets affected when he finally announces his marriage.
So, here are 5 things all men need to learn from Imran Khan’s character in Break Ke Baad.
Space Is Important In Every Relationship
Their relationship hits a hard road when Aaliya decides to go to Australia for further studies and Abhay doesn’t want to get into a long-distance relationship as he fears losing her.
They mutually decide to take time off from each other and try to focus on their careers.
You Don’t Give Up On People You Love
Abhay follows Aaliya to Australia and even when she gets annoyed, he decides to give her space but internally never stops trying. He gives her what she needs and acts low-key about it.
You Should Let Your Partner Follow Their Dreams
Abhay wasn’t ever ready for a long-distance relationship but Aaliya wanted to go to Australia to study further and Abhay is not thrilled by the idea but gets onboard for her.
It’s Okay To Make Mistakes In A Relationship
The two make a lot of mistakes in their relationships, deal with disappointments and even lose each other but become extremely strong individuals by the end of it.
Always Cook Good Food For Her
Now, he always used to get her food and who doesn’t like their boyfriends cooking them a good meal?

Javed Akhtar is renowned for his command over his words, in fact he’s made a successful career out of it. But this time around, it seems like his words have landed him in a major soup.
Talking about rising instances of intolerance in the country during an interaction with NDTV, prominent poet and political activist, Javed Akhtar landed himself in a sticky situation. Drawing comparisons between the Taliban and RSS, the former member of Parliament opened himself up to the public’s ire, "Just like the Taliban want an Islamic State, there are those who want a Hindu Rashtra. These people are of the same mindset -- be it Muslim, Christian, Jews or Hindus.” He continued, "Of course, the Taliban is barbaric, and their actions are reprehensible, but those supporting the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal are all the same.”
He did clarify that he trusts the average Indian and their basic sensibilities, “The majority of this nation is extremely decent and tolerant. That must be respected. India will never become a Talibani country."
His comments have led to people on the internet slamming the prominent screenwriter.

    — Dr Prerna Bakshi (@bprerna) September 5, 2021If RSS had same ideology that Taliban having. #javedakhtar would have been living in some foreign countries as refugees.

    — Rahul B. (@rbamdale19) September 5, 2021Legal advisor to the BJP’s Maharashtra unit, Ashutosh J. Dubey tweeted about the police complaint filed by him against Javed Akhtar, “I have filed the complaint against #JavedAkhtar with the @MumbaiPolice for intentionally outranging to the RSS, VHP, and Bajrang Dal. Javed Akhtar called RSS, VHP, and Bajrang Dal supporters Talibani's! A complaint has been lodged with Javed Akhtar's residential police station.”

    — ADV. ASHUTOSH J. DUBEY (@AdvAshutoshDube) September 4, 2021 BJP MLA Ram Kadam, hurt by these comparisons, launched a scathing response to the eminent poet’s comments, "Before making these remarks, he should have thought that people with the same ideology are running the government now and are fulfilling raj dharma. If their ideology was Talibani, would he have been able to make these remarks? This shows how hollow his statements are."

    — Ram Kadam - राम कदम (@ramkadam) September 4, 2021
Ram Kadam demanded an apology from Javed Akhtar for comparing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to the Taliban, threatening to disrupt screenings of films associated with the screenwriter and political activist.
Kadam, who’s also the spokesperson for the party responded with a warning, "We will not allow any of his films to run in this land of Ma Bharti till he apologises with folded hands to the functionaries of the Sangh who have dedicated their lives to the nation,"
The offended MLA will also be filing a police complaint against Javed Akhtar for his allegedly hurtful comments. However, Ram Kadam has been caught offside in the past over his comments as well.

Back in 2018, he was accused of stirring up an audience of impressionable young men, by telling them that if any girl refused to marry them, he would abduct the girls and hand them over to the boys to marry. He would later go on to express regret over the incident, but an apology over the issue is still to be found.
In 2016, at a time when India was reeling from the effects of the poorly implemented demonetisation, BJP MLA Ram Kadam deemed it appropriate to gift his son a swanky new Mercedes . Back in 2013, Ram Kadam was also accused of allegedly attacking civil servants including rationing officers and civic engineers who took down his illegal hoardings.
Although some have leapt to his defence as well.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been great servants of Indian cricket for several years now. They have always played with the same goal of helping the Indian cricket team scale new heights but some people are always on the lookout for placing them at loggerheads and brewing stories of rift between them.
    © Reuters
Cricket being a team sport, the contribution of each and every player is equally important but some people just don’t get it.

When Rohit smashed his first first overseas Test hundred on Day 3 of the fourth Test at the Oval, the joy on Kohli’s face should have shut all those people up who, for some reason, never miss any opportunity to make up stories about the rift between the two modern-day greats.
First century outside India for the Hitman!

    — Sony Sports (@SonySportsIndia) September 4, 2021
When Rohit charged down the track and cleared the long-on fence off Moeen Ali’s bowling to reach the three-figure mark, Kohli punched his fists and celebrated just like a small child does after getting a candy, while his other teammates and support staff were more subdued in their cheers.
Love this bond of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Heart and Soul of Indian Cricket. pic.twitter.com/roKPw9epIm
    — R A T N I S H (@LoyalSachinFan) September 4, 2021Kohli's reaction on Rohit , bromance haters keep hate fake fans. pic.twitter.com/jqJYJvP0n0
    — Cricket Preist (@CricketPriest) September 4, 2021In fact, Kohli’s celebration had more emotions than Rohit himself, who just raised his bat towards the crowd and the Indian dressing room and acknowledged their support. Normally, a batsman celebrates his fifty by raising his bat and hundred by removing his helmet, but Rohit, despite getting such a big monkey off his back, looked calm and composed as if scoring the hundred was no big deal.
One possible reason could be that Rohit has never played for milestones and landmarks, and scoring a hundred was not his priority. His focus was on playing more deliveries and spending more time in the middle and getting a hundred was the cherry on top.
    © Reuters
“Hundreds don't matter to me, runs are important but these milestones, if it has to happen then it will happen - the important thing is playing my role, opening for the first time in England in Tests and I am glad that I contributed to the team,” Rohit said in a BCCI video.

“The most pleasing thing from this series for me is that playing around 200-250 balls in every Test match - the first goal was to play more balls, stay more time in the middle and it's the biggest takeaway for me in this series,” he added.
    © Reuters
It’s a pity that rather than celebrating the batting masterclass of two of the best batters of the current generation, some people are more interested in spreading rumours about a rift between them.
