Akshay Kumar‘s BellBottom is one of the biggest productions to release in theatres this year amidst the pandemic and people can’t help but celebrate this occasion because it’s been ages since we’ve been to a cinema hall. Directed by Ranjit Tewari, the film is based on true incidents of airline hijacking and also stars Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, and Huma Qureshi in important roles.
The synopsis of the film reads, “Amongst multiple heinous airplane hijacks, India was made to face another such challenge in 1984. BellBottom, a RAW agent played by Akshay Kumar sees through the plan and thus, begins India's first covert operation. A story based on true events, led by BellBotom, that went on to create one of the most defining moments of the country.”
People have loved the movie and are happy that Akshay Kumar has given them an entertainer in the form of BellBottom. People also appreciated the screenplay and the story of the movie. The cinema buffs have also loved the BGM of the movie.

Akshay is among the first actors to resume shooting amid the pandemic. Speaking about whether he was afraid of shooting during such tough times, he said, “Of course, I was, but for how long can you live in fear? Initially, when the pandemic started, very little was known about the virus – the way it affects a person. So, there was a lot of fear. With time, we know more and that it’s possible to beat it if we have a good immune system. Hence, I decided to get back to work taking all the precautions, not just for me but the entire unit.”
Are you planning to watch the movie this weekend? Let us know in the comments below.

Apart from India’s remarkable victory, the Lord’s Test will be remembered for ages for more than one reason. Apart from some high-quality contests between bat and ball, the match will also be remembered for several heated exchanges that took place between players from both sides.
© Reuters
Tempers ran high throughout the game but none had a greater impact on the game than what transpired in the first session on the fifth and the final day of the match. Having picked two early wickets, England skipper Joe Root probably got a bit carried away and asked his bowlers to ‘bully’ India’s tail-enders by bowling a barrage of bouncers, which, as per his own admission, was a big mistake that cost them the match.

Unruffled by England’s intimidating bowling, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami probably played the best knock of their Test careers and forged an 89-run partnership for the ninth wicket, helping India set up a difficult chase.
Former England spinner Monty Panesar feels that Root only did what was decided in the team meeting but they didn’t know it would come back to haunt them so badly. Panesar said England thought they would bully the Indian players with short-pitch deliveries and force them into playing false shots.
© Twitter/BCCI
Panesar, who played an instrumental role in England’s last Test series win on Indian soil in 2012, said Indian captain Virat Kohli was not someone who would sit around and watch his teammates get bullied and do nothing about it. Given his reputation he was bound to respond and he did that exceptionally well on the field.
"England thought that they would bully the Indian team. 'Let's bully Jasprit Bumrah, the number 11.' But they weren't aware of what kind of character Virat Kohli is. He was observing everything and then came back hard on England. He is a guy who never forgives. He will support his team in every way no matter what. Virat can't tolerate the bullying of his teammates,” Panesar told TimesofIndia.com in an exclusive interview.

“England started but it backfired and all credit goes to Virat. England were intimidated by the Indian team. On Day 5, when they got Rishabh Pant out, they thought they would get Shami and Bumrah cheaply too. But everything backfired for England. You just can't mess with India. Virat can't take bullying. He will give it back to you strongly," he added.

They probably underestimated Kohli and his team and ended up paying a huge price as the Indians came back hard at them as a unit and beat them at their own game. England wouldn’t have liked the way things ended and we hope Root and his men have learned their lesson going into the third Test, which begins in Leeds on August 25.

The film Bachna Ae Haseeno that released back in 2008 was as unoriginal as it’s title track and plot - both based on an old song and an old movie. But in its defence, the film’s title should’ve served us as a statutory warning because the crux of the film was pretty much just that - to ask women to beware of a toxic manchild/f**kboi on the loose.
© Yash Raj Films
The movie starts with Raj Sharma aka Ranbir Kapoor in the year 1996, taking a Euro trip with his friends. At the same time, the first female protagonist - Mahi aka Minisha Lamba is also in Switzerland with her friends doing the same thing. She is naive, DDLJ-obsessed and soon going to realise that nothing good comes out of fantasizing about unrealistic Bollywood movies.
© Yash Raj Films
What follows is a modern-day rendition of DDLJ, where they miss the train together and even though the guy makes it looks like he is helping her, is all the while serving his own selfish interest of getting some holiday booty.
© Yash Raj Films
They finally share a kiss which, mind you, is a big thing for Mahi and her feeble heart that she wore on the sleeve. Of course, for Raj it is only a conquest that he won, a fact that he lays out pretty clearly and brutally later on while boasting about his sexual endeavours with Mahi to his guy friends.
© Yash Raj Films
Mahi overhears his less-than-flattering boy talk, realises all those sweet nothings he told her were a ruse to get into her pants, gets heartbroken while Raj simply shrugs and leaves. Because as a guy, that is all the emotion they have stored inside of them.
Cut to 2002, six years later Raj has moved to Mumbai and is working as a game designer. He is shown to be living with Radhika aka Bipasha Basu, an aspiring model who despite being shown as a modern and independent woman, is hopelessly in love with Raj and ready to give up her own aspirations to move with him to Sydney after he gets offered a job there.
© Yash Raj Films
Although Raj, being the tin-hearted and commitment-phobic jerk that he is, agrees to marry her, ends up lying to her about the date they have to leave for Sydney and ultimately leaves her stranded at the altar to fly off to Sydney with his best friend. Bear in mind, this was his doing to a serious girlfriend he was in a live-in relationship with and promised to marry.
© Yash Raj Films
Clearly, the guy lacked serious or any emotions whatsoever and cared only for himself. Basically your average next-door narcissistic male neighbor that both society and Bollywood keep on glorifying.
© Yash Raj Films
Cut to 2007, Raj is now working with his equally toxic friend Sachin in Sydney and comes across Gayatri aka Deepika Padukone. The progressive, hard-worker, no-bullshit attitude keeper who drives a taxi at night and studies at a business school in the day.
© Yash Raj Films
Suddenly, as Raj gets involved with a woman who, for the first time, did not want commitment from him, his own commitment phobia is ironically cured. He proposes to her only to be turned down and in that moment has an epiphany - of just how big a jerk he has been all his life.
© Yash Raj Films
Hurt, (by a simple and polite rejection, and comparing his own privileged pain of listening to a mere ‘no’ with that of the two girls whose heart he stomped over and left for dead) Raj sets out on a journey for redemption.
© Yash Raj Films
He first knocks at the door of Mahi, who is now not-happily married and has two cute kids. One awkward confrontation with Mahi’s husband about Raj being the reason Mahi doesn’t believe in love later, they all break out into a Bollywood song by the end of which, Mahi’s broken heart is magically healed.
© Yash Raj Films
She finds happiness in her marriage, and Raj leaves feeling vindicated with a sense of satisfaction that he clearly did not deserve, considering he was an a**hole to her and shouldn’t have gotten off that easy.
© Yash Raj Films
Next up is Radhika who is now a big-shot supermodel/actress and has changed her name to ‘Shreya’. She makes Raj really work for the forgiveness he was so casually seeking and makes an errand-boy out of him.
© Yash Raj Films
Honestly, this would have to be the best part of the film, although his punishment still didn’t match up to the kind of hurt and trauma he inflicted on Radhika by leaving her at the altar.
© Yash Raj Films
In the end, Radhika sends him off saying that it’s too late for her to find love or stop being bitter about it, portraying the deep-seated impact a f**kboi has on innocent hearts.
© Yash Raj Films
After Raj gets his apologies accepted like it was NBD, which ends up glorifying such toxic male privilege of hurting a person and getting away with a mere ‘sorry’, he comes back to his happy ending waiting for him.
© Yash Raj Films
Gayatri who had been writing letters to him every single day after having realised she did love him too, finally reconciles with Raj as the two get together and all’s well that ends well.
© Yash Raj Films
Moral of the story? It’s okay to f**k around and break the hearts of as many women out there as long as you go back (immediately or like after 10 years) to say a token ‘sorry’. Because apparently, that makes everything okay. Okay?

Starring Aparshakti Khurana, Pranutan Bahl, Abhishek Banerjee, Ashish Verma, and Sharib Hashmi, the trailer of ZEE5’s upcoming film Helmet is out. If you have seen the trailer, you would agree with us when we say that it surely is going to be a hit. Directed by Satramm Ramani, the quirky comedy has been produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions and actor Dino Morea's production house, DM Movies.
Helmet marks the directorial debut of Ramani, and Rohan Shankar, who previously wrote Luka Chuppi, which also starred Khurana in an important role, will serve as the writer. “I had a great time shooting for Helmet. The cast and the crew became more than a family," Khurana had said earlier in a statement.
We think that movie has the potential to give many more movies that were released this year a tough competition.
Here’s why we think the movie will be a hit:
Something Unique And Not A Stale IdeaBuying condoms can be tricky for men and there are many men who have faced this issue in the past. It’s no news that it's a taboo and with Helmet, the makers have probably struck just the right chord.
Aparshakti’s character Lucky goes to a shop to buy a condom but feels shy to ask for it as many men around him are giving him a judgemental look. The twist in the story comes when he meets his friends Sultan played by Abhishek and Minus played by Ashish Verma, and they all decide to steal mobile phones from an e-commerce shipping company.
Instead of finding mobile phones, they land up with cartons filled with condoms. Well, it will be a challenging task for these three men to sell them and in the trailer, we all also get to see how men react when asked about condoms.

We wish the Helmet team the best of luck.
