Hate him as much as you like but there is a reason why Badshah is one of the most popular music directors and singers in India. He truly has helped in establishing the careers of a great many numbers of singers that we hear today. The fact that most of their music makes a lot of people want to pour boiling oil down their ears, is a different matter altogether.

    © Instagram/badboyshah
Basically, say what you will, whether good or bad, but Badshah has had an indelible mark on India’s mainstream music scene. One thing that even his haters will have to agree with is that the man knows the business of music inside out.

    © Instagram/badboyshah
Here are a few ways he has impacted India’s music scene. Do keep in mind that although some of them have been for the good, most of them...Well, not so much.

The Good1. Reviving Old Folk Music
    © Sony Music
The best thing that Badshah has done with his music is popularising old, forgotten folk songs, and we genuinely wish he continues to with this. Remember that song with Jacqueline Fernandes that he shot, Genda Phool, well the hook of the song, or the refrain, was a line from an old Bengali folk song.

Then again, the refrain from his latest single, Baawla, is from another popular Haryanvi folk song that is predominantly sung around Jhajjar. At least he’s reviving these old folk songs at a time when other music directors seem to have forgotten about them.
    2. Making Music More Reels Friendly
    © Instagram/badboyshah
Hate it as much as you want, but one of the biggest ways that music is being consumed today is through reels & dub smash-like videos. Because his songs are extremely catchy, and their hooks are earworms, they make for good music for reels or dub-smash content for people who’re into those sort of things.

    3. Reinventing Party Anthems
Although one cannot credit just Badshah for this, party anthems back in the day used to suck. It would generally be an obscure DJ, mixing up the most popular songs of the year. Musicians like Honey Singh, Badshah & Raftaar at least gave us proper Party Anthems. In the mid 2010s, which then kicked of a trend, or rather a genre of sorts.
The Bad1. Not Crediting Original Singers/Crediting After Getting Called Out
    © Sony Music, BCCL
One thing that Badshah is often accused of, is not crediting the people who have ‘inspired his music.’ Basically, the people whose work he has copied, or appropriated, allegedly of course. Only when he is called out on social media by aware and active users, does he share the credit. The credit also often just buried deep into the YouTube description of the music videos. This happened both times, with ‘Genda Phool,’ as well as ‘Baawla.’

    2. Remixing The Crap Out Of Old, Folksy Songs
    © Sony Music
While we are at it, can we just say how much autotune and sound mixing do folk songs really need if they need it at all? There is no other way of saying this, but folk songs lose their essence whenever they are remixed. Don’t get us wrong, folk songs can be remixed. Look at what Coke Studio does regularly, or for that matter, The Dewarists. That’s the way to go.

    3. His Lyrics
    © Instagram/badboyshah
We have been over this a gazillion times - Badshah has a long and checkered history with lyrics. Sometimes, they are problematic, and sometimes they are downright creepy. But by and large, they hardly make a coherent sense. His lyrics tend to be a cringefest. Just take a look at his lines around cricket and wicket in Genda Phool. Or for that matter, pick any other of his more recent songs.

    4. The Music, Beats Et All
    © Instagram/badboyshah
The tune of the song or the music is the easiest thing to remember about a song. You may forget the name of a song, but you hardly forget the music or the tune of the song. Heck, we’re pretty sure, like all normal people, you’ve wished you could hum a song to Google and find out its name.

Badshah’s music isn’t like that. All of them sound the same and are identical to the brain. You seriously cannot distinguish between the music of the songs, they all appear to be the same. This is mainly because when you take the hook or the refrain of the song out, most of them are monotonous, and often have the same sound signature.
    5. The Way The Videos Are Shot
    © Instagram/badboyshah
This may be subjective to a lot of people, but most of these music videos that hit 125 million views or 300 million views are shot in a very drab and predictable manner. There will be an expensive car, a private jet, a beautiful face dancing to the song, a heck lot of women dancing to the song in the background, and tons of bling. Badshah may not have started this trend, but he sure has been an equal opportunity offender when it comes to this.

There are several underground rappers and ‘undiscovered’ musicians who make far more interesting and visually stimulating music videos, that too on an overall budget that might be less than the money spent on one of these big-ticket music videos.
    6. Making Music A Game Of Numbers
Again, this is not something that is exclusive to Badshah, but he for sure has been the biggest culprit. Badshah has often claimed that his music videos have broken single-day viewership records. And how is this feat achieved? By playing the songs as ads, sometimes unskippable ads across a wide gamut of audiences. Also, do we need to remind people of the time when Badshah had to record a statement with the police for his involvement in a case of having fake social media followers?

It is funny when you find out that some of the best and the biggest hits are written with a different star cast in mind. Something similar has happened in the case of stalwart and Greek God Hrithik Roshan , who apparently rejected a lot of movies which went on to become big hits. Now obviously he had his own reasons and we aren’t discounting the fact the actors who eventually took that role did a fantastic job, but one can't help if he ever wondered later why he said no. here are 5 hits which were originally offered to him but were rejected by him:

    1. SwadesEven though the handsome actor joined hands with director Ashutosh Gowariker for Jodhaa Akbar, Hrithik has turned down Swades before SRK took it up. In an interview with TOI , he exclaimed , “I had read Ashutosh’s script for Swades. I couldn’t see it from the director’s perspective, and therefore didn’t think I was equipped to perform the part. I wasn’t the best person to translate Ashutosh’s vision. And this was right after Lagaan so when Ashutosh came to me I felt on top of the world. Swades is one of my favourite films. And Ashutosh is definitely one of my favourite filmmakers.” Well, we love his honesty TBH.

    2. Rang De BasantiRakeysh Om Prakash Mehra recently revealed that Aamir  had gone to visit Hrithik and convince him to take up this wonderful project. Hrithik was offered the role of Karan, which was later played by South star Siddharth.

    3. Main Hoon NaRumour has it that Hrithik turned down the role of Lakshman, which was later played by Zayed Khan because he found the character lacking depth and perhaps there wasn’t much to do for him. Well, Main Hoon Na would have been SO different if after K3G, we could witness the chemistry between him and SRK again.

    4. Dil Chahta HaiFarhan has been very open about how he faced a lot of casting issues with DCH because so many people had said no. while this movie was ahead of its time and continues to stay one of the best movies out there, Farhan revealed that Hrithik was offered the role of Sameer, which was eventually essayed by Saif Ali Khan. The duo eventually paired up for ZNMD as co-stars.

    5. Bunty Aur BabliNow you might think that the casting of this movie was perfect and we can't fathom anyone doing what Rani and Abhishek  did. However, according to IMDB, Hrithik had wrapped up Mujhse Dosti Karoge with YRF, which was a commercial dud. While the talks to rope him for Bunty Aur Babli were on, he apparently opted out of it. Abhishek later went on to be nominated for the ‘best actor’ role as well.

I was 26 when the pandemic entered my life. And the way things are going, I’ll be closer to 30 before the pandemic begins showing any signs of respite.
The vaccinations have definitely helped ease some of the worries, but despite that, like me, there are many whose outlook on dating has changed forever .
A loss of youth or just social anxiety burgeoning from an extended period of being stuck indoors, our dating lives before and after the pandemic feel like different chapters altogether.
Here are 5 strange ways how your dating life has changed since the pandemic:
    1.  Talk The Walk  © iStock
Dating may have become a lot more meaningful since the pandemic.

People actually have to talk more and prove their worth through conversation  before the first date is even considered.
Suddenly, looks don’t matter as much anymore. Also, you can only feign interest for so long, your pretty face privilege has diminished immensely since 2020.
    2. Goodbye Hookup Culture?   © iStock
If you were someone who participated in the dating world via hookups, there’s some bad news for you.

People have become a lot warier and spooked by COVID19, and rightfully so. We’ve been through a lot, and people are looking for safer and more reliable encounters than meaningless flings.
    3. Buyer’s Remorse   © iStock
New relationships and even marriages bloomed during the initial phase of the pandemic. People thought it to be the best time to get hitched, and they’re now experiencing an eerie sense of buyer’s remorse.

Spending extended time with their partners during the lockdown has changed how they looked at their committed relationships.
    4. Ghosts Of Exes Past  © iStock
The pandemic really shook the foundations of everything we ever knew. In such situations, stranger danger is absolutely real.

We can’t tell who’s safe and who isn’t, so many young serial daters are going back to familiar grounds, with exes feeling like the safest bet in these times.
    5. Vaccine Positive  © iStock
Gone are the days where people were only rejected for their political views, their favourite problematic shows or poor manners. Added to the ever-increasing list of red flags is your lack of vaccination.

It’s a brand new game of minesweeper, except these humanised landmines can literally affect your lives.
Most dating apps like Bumble and Hinge now allow you to publish if you’ve been vaccinated or not onto your profiles. That checkmark next to your vaccination status might just be the difference between someone swiping left or right on you.
Dating may seem a lot different from the carefree days before the pandemic. It almost feels as if people are tired of the superficial and want something more, or maybe I’m just projecting.
Hookups suddenly carry a lot more baggage, more than that ex who cheated on you. Speaking of that ex, maybe now’s a good time to get back in touch and find out if they’ve been vaccinated yet or not.

As a woman, it happens more often than not that people think they are giving me compliments and lauding me for a quality or two I possess, but in reality, all they are really doing is demeaning me or generalising me into a societal stereotype.
Whether it is by getting surprised if I tell them I know how to ride a bike or by calling me ‘beauty with brains’, most of the time, what we women are left with are back-handed compliments that are more of an insult.
    © Junglee Pictures
And believe it or not, the case isn’t very different with the men out there.

Stuck in the same rut, serenaded with compliments that might as well be sarcasm laden taunts, there are quite a few things that are casually hurled at men which end up hurting them more than we could ever imagine.
So, in order to steer clear of any casualties the next time you want to praise a guy, here are 5 backhanded compliments you should NEVER say to a man:
    1) “I Didn’t Take You For Being So Emotional” © Dharma Productions
Now, the problem with this is that it feeds into the whole ‘strong men don’t cry’ stereotype, according to which a man is only macho enough if he knows how to bottle his feelings and is never vulnerable.

The fact that men are also human and can have feelings and emotions just as women should not be glorified, it should be normalised.
    2) “You’re So Different Than Other Guys” © Colour Yellow Productions
Before I proceed, I’ll give you some context for the statement that is usually said when women come across guys who aren’t just in it for the ***.

Thanks to society, it is universally perceived that all men are capable of lust, not love, which makes this compliment more of a taunt than praise.
    3) “Oh You Can Cook? Your Wife Will Be A Lucky Woman” © Eros International
Yet again, with just one line the entire preconceived notion of women being responsible for kitchen and household work while the man is held accountable for earning bread and butter gets propagated.

Something as universal as cooking or cleaning should not be gender-specific and to specially point it out in a man is more of an insult than a compliment.
    4) “You’re So Understanding To Be Okay With Your Partner Earning More Than You” © Eros International
A lot of men feel at odds with their partners when they earn more than them. But at the same time, a lot of other men out there don’t because they understand that it doesn’t have to be a competition.

Which is why, anytime you laud a man for being progressive when their partner earns more, it feels more like you are rubbing salt into a society-built wound.
It’s 2021, can we normalise women earning more and not make a big deal out of it?
    5) “You’re So Handsome, You Can Get Any Girl You Want” © Dharma Productions
The implication that all a man would need to impress a woman is looks or that he is nothing beyond that, is pretty hurtful.

Especially since no one likes to be reduced to just their bodies and appearance, a fact that goes for men and women alike.
    6) “Yesss! You Made Me Cum” © Balaji Motion Pictures
You see, what I am hinting at here is a fake orgasm and a mock-up reassurance that your man indeed rocked your world in bed.

It is not just impolite but also, most of the time, transparent to the guys because they do get to know whether or not they’ve satisfied their partner.
So, unless you really had that release, don’t hand out a consolation prize with fake moans. It’s insulting.

Most men are commitment-phobic. But have you wondered why? It comes from fear; the fear of getting heartbroken, cheated on, having a toxic girlfriend and ultimately, being in a marriage that does not work out in the end.
Plus, there are stories. Horror stories of married couples that would convince guys to stay single for as long as they can.
    © Balaji Motion Pictures
Also, Bollywood doesn’t make it any easier. While it gives unrealistic expectations of romance, most movies and web series, where the characters are married, end up with the couple getting a divorce, having an extra-marital affair or worse, someone getting killed.

    © Prime Video
Don’t believe us? Think Chalte Chalte, Tanu Weds Manu and more recently, Haseen Dillruba. All these movies are based on trouble in paradise after marriage.

The wives in these movies, or any other postmarital rom-com, are especially nightmarish.
    © Eros International
Here are five onscreen wives that scared the bejesus out of a lot of men and pushed them further into not committing ever.

We don’t blame them, because these women were actually the worst wives anyone could have:
    1. Trisha (Shaadi Ke Side Effects) © Balaji Motion Pictures
Vidya Balan’s character Trisha is fun, attractive and sweet which got Sid (Farhan) to commit. But as soon as they become parents, she becomes this nagging, complaining, know-it-all mom who shames Sid for not being a good father.

She even lies about being pregnant with someone’s else’s child (who does that?).
    2. Kajal (Judaai) © Eros International
In the one-of-a-kind love triangle, Kajal willingly marries...pardon, SELLS her very loving husband off to another woman just like that.

She gets an exciting offer to earn some dollar bills in exchange for her husband from a girl who’s crushing on him and she agrees.
She only realises her mistake when she sees her children and ex-husband giving the new mommy more attention. Well, what did she expect?
    3. Cynthia (Rustom) © Zee Studios
Bollywood has given us many cheating wives including Maya from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Priyanka Chopra in Aitraz but Cynthia Pavri is the worst among them.

She is married to an Indian Naval officer who can die for her and even kill for her. But as soon as he goes off to London, she cheats on him and gives silly AF reasons for it.
    4. Suchi (The Family Man)  © Prime Video
It still isn’t known what happened in Lonavala after the show gave fans sleepless nights for two whole seasons.

However, whatever Suchi did, she dealt with her guilt in the worst way possible. Although Srikant did everything to make their marriage work and keep her happy, she was distant, rude and unsupportive of anything her husband did. Srikant deserves better.
    5. Susanna (7 Khoon Maaf)  © UTV Motion Pictures
Okay, maybe men can handle the mood swings, constant nagging of their wives and even forgive a cheating partner, but a murderous wife who’s hell-bent on killing you? Don’t think so.

Seeing Priyanka Chopra play Susanna who doesn’t bat an eye before murdering her husbands for their flaws sent a chill down every eligible bachelor. And, for all the right reasons.

We all loove horror movies, right?

    © WB
    Okay, okay! Maybe not everyone.

Now, while we may all not agree that the idea of watching a horror movie is exactly fun, what we all CAN (italic) agree on, is that people are dumb as f*** in horror movies.
    © Wayan Bros Entertainment
I mean, when we are watching it, we can literally start talking to the characters on the screen, begging them Not To Open That Door, or Not To Look Behind, or Not To Go Out All On Your Own. But guess what? Like Donald Trump throughout this four-year term as the US President, they refuse to f*****g listen!

    © Reuters
Anyway, I felt that for the sake of just making horror movies a tad bit better or for just helping future movie characters to survive better, here are a few simple pointers on How Not To Get Killed In A Horror Movie Haunted House:

    1. Turn On The Bloody Lights!Ever wondered what a haunted house would look like if it was properly lit up?
Well, not so haunted, to be honest. I mean, let's get one thing straight. Most horror movie haunted houses aren't your Bombay ka 2BHK houses, okay. They're pretty big a** mansions, so that means that the person or family moving into them must be pretty loaded.
Bhai! Itna paisa hai, toh just spend a little more money on some good Philips ke lights an?
No. Instead, they'll choose to constantly do this, in movies.
    © WB
So, rule number one of surviving a horror movie haunted house? Buy new lights and keep them on!

    2. Listen To Your Freaking Kids © Istock
Papa and Mummy! This one is for you guys.

When a 5-year-old Rahul/Shreya or Ryan/Sarah comes up to you talking about their imaginary friends, it's okay to find it cute.
However, it's NOT, Absolutely NOT OKAY if they are saying the same thing at age 15. I mean damn! There could only be two things out of this!
Either your son/daughter is having some next-level maal, or your house may actually be haunted.
In both cases, you're bound to be in trouble. So LISTEN TO THEM!
Also, keeping a track of all horror movies, there is at least one parent who has to act like a total jackass.
"Honey, there's nothing there. (Kuch Nahi Hai Waha Pe)". "It's all in your head (Sab Tumhare Dimaag Me Hai)".
Well, guess what? These people die first in the movie, as the ghost is probably like, "Believe this, Mofo!"
    3. Don't Run Straight, Try Sideways! © Getty Images
Now, this is seriously messed up! Be it horror movies, thriller movies, movies where you're normally being chased or even the Game Of Thrones episode where Jon Snow is not able to save his younger brother Rickon from being killed by a bow, because Rickon chooses not to run sideways. (Heartbreaking, yes. Stupid way to die, also yes.)

Anyway, you know there is a ghost or a killer behind you and you'd still choose to run straight. It's the easiest way to get killed off in movies.
Now, unlike the times when you might have been forced to make a career in engineering or medicine, this time around, you do have a choice. So, choose to go zig-zag, left-right, I don't know, mix it up but go anything but straight!
Do it for yourself, dude! Your life depends on it!
    4. Don't Buy The House If It's Haunted? © 20th Century Fox
I want to know what goes on in the mind of the family moving into a haunted house. Like, what do you exactly smoke before going to the realtor and choosing to buy a house which may be haunted?

Realtor: This house has a big pool, good garden.
    Family: Nah.
Realtor: This house has a Jacuzzi.
    Family: Nah.
Realtor: Oh, this house was actually built on an ancient burial ground and there have been 21 killings here ever since.
Family: So, when do we move in? (Wink Wink)
A couple of million dollars worth of money plus a few hauntings and a thousand screams later, we have a movie about it.
So, when in doubt, don't purchase a haunted house!
    5. You're Not Sherlock, So Don't Try © Netflix
Horror movie characters are legit morons, I tell you. Annoying AF!

Remember kids when they are young and you tell them not to stand too close to the road, balcony edge, jump on the beds? Well, the movie characters are just the older, adult-like versions of them.
Bhai! Who goes out to say Kaun Hai after hearing a screaming girl like the one from Raaz?
    She does.
    © Tips Industries
So do most other people in horror movies. End result? You're not in the sequel. Because you're dead.

So, for the sake of at least having two horror movies to your name? Don't do this s***.
    6. Just Get Out Of The Damn House & Call For Help © Screen Gems
There is one thing being independent and another thing to be absolutely batshit crazy!

You know you live in a haunted house! The house ghost knows it too! He also knows that you're stupid enough to just keep running inside the house because the floor outside your main door is lava!
Don't do this! The ghost is not even running after you because it's busy laughing at the circus.
    © Wayan Bros Entertainment
We know you're on Instagram most of the day, so just message or call a damn friend and before that, just sprint towards the exit door and get out!

Because unlike a handpicked few movie characters who manage to survive multiple horror movies in a franchise, you will be killed!

Zoya Akhtar's ZNMD is one of those movies that we can still watch over and over again at any random point in the day and we’d feel like taking a road trip. This film can never get old. Apart from giving us some major friendship goals, this movie also gave us some major life lessons that we can't forget.
The film was promoted and viewed as a road movie where a bunch of friends celebrate and have fun on a friend’s bachelor’s trip. However, if someone watched the film properly, the film was not only about a road trip but also about complex relationships.

It focused on toxic relationships and when we talk about toxic, Natasha (Kalki Koechlin) was one of them. So, here are 4 red flags that nobody noticed in Natasha.

Assumed That Kabir Proposed Her On a table full of family and friends, Kabir showed Natasha, his long-term girlfriend, a ring and she assumed that it was for her.
She didn’t even wait for him to say anything and announced the news herself. That was quite a show!

Crashed Fiance’s Bachelor’s Party There is only one rule at any bachelor's party and that is that your significant other shouldn’t be there. But, Natasha expected Kabir to be thrilled when she crashed his bachelor trip. That’s a little weird, no?
She Had Major Trust Issues She crashed her fiance’s bachelor trip after she thought he saw him with Leila (Katrina Kaif) and got extremely suspicious. He was just talking to her while Natasha was still on video call.
Now, this is being insecure and they were engaged by that time. So, that’s some major trust issues that can easily break a relationship.

She Didn’t Understand The Concept Of Space While Kabir and his friends are dropping her off at the airport, she hints at him saying that he won’t be going on any all-boys trip after his wedding. Isn’t that suffocating?
Later, Kabir breaks the engagement with her. Good for him!
