One of the iconic movies of the 90s which was a part of our growing up is Hum Aapke Hai Koun. The movie which led to everyone loving Madhuri and Salman and dancing to Didi tera dewar deewana also traumatised us and made the kid inside us cry when we watched the beloved Pooja Bhabhi fall down that damn staircase which led to her dying and bringing a twist in the entire love story.

    © Sooraj Barjatya
The scene turned into a viral meme when gen Z discovered this classic movie. The scene is surely saddening for the kid in us and especially since she falls right after celebrating and dancing while singing ‘lo chali main, apne dewar ki barat leke’ was cathartic. In fact so many people demanded an explanation around how and why this happened.

If this isn't the most shocking death in Cinema, I don't know what is.Matlab who dies after singing lo chali mai apne dewar ki baaraat leke. https://t.co/g9zfhEEsZ7

It was not until recently that the sad kid in us found out that in reality, the staircase was made out of a freaking sponge and our beloved Pooja Bhabhi was not hurt at all. Renuka Shahane spilled the beans on what went down while shooting this famous scene. “People actually don’t know that the staircase was made of sponge, so I don’t get hurt at all. Sooraj Barjataya is very particular about all this. He wouldn’t let anyone get hurt. In fact, it became more tough for me because I had to act like I am hurt and in pain,” she exclaimed. I mean, everything we believed was a lie! Damn, I don’t know about the stairs, but this truth hurts the paradigm and the pain we felt for Bhabhi ji.

The viral video clip which shows a woman from Lucknow beating up a cab driver in front of the public and traffic police has sparked a nationwide outage. The cab driver’s interview explains how he had to bear a lo of financial loss after his phone was damaged and his car was confistcated. Above all, he demands his self-respect to be resurrected and has demanded public’s help in serving him justice. An FIR was lodged against the woman in question but post her recent interview with a news portal, several new twists have come up.

In an interview with Zee News, the woman who has been identified as Priyadarshini Yadav, claims that the cab driver was over speeding despite the signal being red and was about to hit her. The murkier details which she revealed includes that according to her, a cab driver with over 100 men used to beat her up for 2 years. “Mujhe 2 saal bohot mara in logo ne. Pure sharir mein chot’e lagi huyi hai. Woh sabko leke aya tha. Puri mob ne mujhe mara hai” she said. On being questioned by the interviewer if this was the same cab driver who did it or the fact that she was traumatised in the past led her to assume she’d be hurt this time as well, her reply was slightly convoluted. She explained that she is unwell and she has to go out for running and walking. She explained that men scared her off and cars with modified lights used to stop by and scare her away.

She further explained that this cab driver’s car had modified lights and was using his phone when she pointed him to stop the car. The interviewer asks her if this was a trigger and hence she went ahead and got violent. It is basically just assumed that this is what happened, according to her statement. He then also asked her if she has any proof of these previous incidents as well, to which she explains that the Police should be responsible for gathering CCTV footage for them. The public is extremely confused and divided with these new claims and people on social media demand justice for the cab driver.

    — Khushi Chauhan (@InK___MonsteR) August 4, 2021Saw that #lucknowgirl 's interview. Man, she's one talented liar. Absolutely blatant.
Feel really bad for the poor cab driver. Looks like the police didn't register his complaint either. Infact he was allegedly harassed instead.
Sad state of affairs, also, it's Uttar Pradesh.
    — Shoaib Ali (@cantcarelesser) August 4, 2021The Public is clearly irked and calling her out for the lies which they believe are ruining the life of the cab driver. Here’s hoping that justice is served and the authorities can soon conclude this case after interrogating both the sides.

Some people cry easily while watching an emotional scene in a movie, like the hero reuniting with his long-lost brother or finally getting the girl in the end, while some are like Chandler Bing who can’t get themselves to shed a tear over a fictional scene.
Although not every sad movie has the potential to make you weep like a child, there are some that have done a great job in evoking emotions even in the most apathetic of people.
    © Aamir Khan Productions
We have listed down some Bollywood movies that moved us to tears with just one really, really heart-wrenching scene.

We are sure even you have bawled your eyes out watching these 5 tear-jerking scenes, whether or not you are a crier. If you haven’t, you are probably dead inside.
    © Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Pictures
Take a look at 5 extremely emotional movie moments that can make even grown men cry like a baby:

    1. When Somu Tried To Remind Reshmi Of Him (Sadma, 1983) © N C Sippy
This was the moment when we wanted to pull our hearts out because we couldn't bear to see Somu desperately trying to get Reshmi’s attention.

He took care of her when she was mentally regressed due to an accident. But when she is recovered, she forgets about him.
Somu, covered in mud, dances like a monkey (which made her laugh before) to remind her but she thinks he was some crazy beggar.
    2. Ishaan Being Sent To Hostel (Taare Zameen Par, 2007)  © Aamir Khan Productions
I have never met anyone who hasn’t cried their eyes out watching Ishaan’s family leaving him in the boarding school.

He sees his parents drive away as he is left behind in a strange place. He is scared, sad and all alone.
The song ‘Tujhe Sab Hai Pata, Haina Maa’ and his mom helplessly crying made it even more heart-wrenching.
    3. Deepak Finding Shaalu’s Dead Body (Masaan, 2015) © Drishyam Films
When Deepak said “saala yeh dukh kaahe khatam nahi hota be,” we just wanted to lend our shoulder to him and let him bawl.

He found out that his girlfriend had died in a bus accident by finding her dead body in a crematorium his family worked in.
Although the scene has turned into a meme material lately because of the famous dialogue, it does bring tears to our eyes every time we watch the movie.
    4. The Dog Visiting The Grave Of His Master (Teri Meherbaniyan, 1985)  © BMB Productions
The dog in this movie was a star and the epitome of loyalty. He visits the grave of his master yearning for him to return and even avenges his death by killing his murderers.

The bond between Moti and his master Ram and his loyalty brings tears to our eyes.
This was even more saddening for pet parents because after watching this movie, we just wanted to hug our furry friends.
    5. The Gang Getting Killed (Rang De Basanti, 2006)   © Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Pictures
Not every movie has a happy ending, but we weren’t prepared for the tragic deaths of the guys at the end of this movie.

The climax still remains one of the most upsetting scenes in the history of Bollywood and reflects on the reality of the system.
It was Sharman Joshi’s ‘Sukhi’ dying unmarried that hurt us the most though.

A pre-statutory warning for everyone who will come at me for writing this review, that there is a part of me that does like the movie too. For its acting, its songs, for just how great Aishwarya looked and more.
But having said that, I will also go on to mention that a movie is supposed to be much more than just entertainment. When you produce something that has the potential of influencing millions of people at once, it is supposed to offer substance, something to take away from.
    © Dharma Productions
And if I were being honest, if there is anything that I could take away from this Dharma Production movies, it is that no matter how progressive or rich or successful some men become, ‘no’ would never mean ‘no’ for them and that every time Karan Johar can’t give you a happy ending, he will give a character cancer.

    © Dharma Productions
Coming to the plot of this movie, it was yet another typical Joharverse film, one where all emotions are heightened and songs are filmed in every part of the world.

    © Dharma Productions
The movie starts with Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) and Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) bumping into each other at a club and making out. Ayan is an aspiring musician who is studying in London and Alizeh is... just there with a lot of money at her disposal.

    © Dharma Productions
They soon turn into friends, reveal they’re both actually seeing other people and end up romanticising ‘cheating’ like it’s NBD. Karma hits them right back, though, when during a double date, their own partners are caught cheating in a washroom.

    © Dharma Productions
Deciding to mourn their break-ups in Paris by taking a private jet, because no Karan Johar movie is complete without flaunting your bank balance, the two come closer to each other and Ayan finds himself falling for Alizeh.

    © Dharma Productions
Of course, he mentions none of that to her, and his window of opportunity soon closes when Alizeh bumps into her ex, Ali (Fawad Khan) who she is still not over yet.

    © Dharma Productions
Ayan suddenly starts feeling both neglected and jealous yet, when Alizeh invites him to hers and Ayan’s wedding, he reluctantly agrees.

    © Dharma Productions
At the wedding, while Ranbir Kapoor delivers some of his best acting, his character starts developing a major man-child vibe who neither stops professing his love for Alizeh nor stops hurting with the realisation that she can’t be his.

    © Dharma Productions
After Alizeh explains to Ayan how she isn’t in love with him, Ayan leaves the venue during their wedding ceremony and at the airport, bumps into the ever-ravishing Saba, played by Aishwarya Rai.

    © Dharma Productions
Saba is everything that Alizeh wasn’t - poetess, refined, well-read, independent, in control of her feelings and her life. As she consoles a heartbroken Ayan on their flight, the two immediately hit it off and what transpires is a hot and steamy situationship.

    © Dharma Productions
Shah Rukh Khan, who appears in a cameo, as Saba’s ex-husband comes only to deliver an even more problematic dialogue than the entire plot of the film, where he romanticises one-sided love. Because that is just the kind of advice our male youth needs after they already struggle with facing rejection.

    © Dharma Productions
All is well until one fine day Ayan receives a call from Alizeh and the two plan to catch up. With Saba, at her place, what follows is a very awkward dinner conversation, one where Ayan is shamelessly trying to make Alizeh jealous, which she obviously doesn’t get considering she wasn’t in love with him in the first place.

Ayan’s man-child side is raging at this point, finding it extremely difficult to respect her ‘no’.
    © Dharma Productions
Meanwhile, Saba, who is the only sane and sensible character in the film and knows her worth, is unwilling to take any of Ayan’s crap and asks him to f**k right off, in the most poised and graceful way ever. Something I took a mental note of.

    © Dharma Productions
With all this heartbreak and near-psychotic love for Alizeh, Ayan becomes a successful musician. Because apparently, it takes just that to be a good singer. (Anyone got Rockstar vibes here?)

    © Dharma Productions
Ayan, later on, bumps into Ali only to realise that Ali and Alizeh aren’t together any longer. With just the kind of a push a guy harbouring serious feelings of unrequited love needed, Ayan sets off to find Alizeh thinking this may just be his shot to conquer her love.

You see where I am going with this?
    © Dharma Productions
He does find Alizeh after nearly having his balls frozen sitting on a rooftop and it turns out, Karan Johar has played his favourite card - cancer. The woman is already in stage 4 cancer and doesn’t have much time to live.

Now, the question is, will Alizeh give Ayan a shot at love since she isn’t going to love for much longer or will Ayan finally understand the gravity of the situation and stop forcing his love in her face? Your guess is as good as mine.
    © Dharma Productions
One thing is clear at this point, that Ayan, much like most other men we encounter in our lives, was simply incapable of understanding how a woman cannot have feelings for him just because he has feelings for her. Her exasperation is pretty apparent as she asks him to leave, which she should’ve done much earlier tbh.

    © Dharma Productions
Ayan, who FINALLY gets his shit together and accepts her feelings, then chases her at the airport, thereby fulfilling her last wish.

Alizeh soon dies and Ayan delivers a monologue on his unrequited love, singing ‘Channa Mereya’.

    The End.

As the days of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 wage on, the Indian platoon has been putting their best foot forward to bring home as many medals as they can.
And after a long and arduous campaign, the Indian Men’s National Team finally won a place on the coveted podium, marking a proud moment in our nation’s sporting history.
Here are 5 reasons why the Indian Men’s Hockey Team bronze medal is just the start of something incredible:
    1. Olympic Medal For Indian Men's Hockey After 41 YearsIn a fiercely contested 5-4 win over Germany, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team won the nation its first Olympic medal in 41 years.
The last time the national team had placed on the podium was in 1980, where they won gold.

With emotions at an all-time high, captain Manpreet Singh dedicated this victory to doctors and frontline health workers in India.

He said, "I don't know what to say right now, it was fantastic. The effort, the game, we were 3-1 down. I think we deserve this medal. We have worked so hard, the last 15 months were difficult for us also, we were in Bangalore and some of us got COVID also."
"We would like to dedicate this medal to doctors and frontline health workers who have saved so many lives in India," he added.
    3. Determined All The Way Most athletes give up when they realize they won’t be playing for gold anymore, not our boys though.
Despite a 2-5 loss to Belgium in the semifinals that dented their hopes of a gold medal, the team fought valiantly to earn their spot on the podium. The fire in this team’s belly kept them going.

    4. Renewed Confidence PR Sreejesh, the team’s veteran shot-stopper, beamed with jubilation after their bronze win.
“It's a rebirth, that's it," he said, asserting that their heroics at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 will inspire and produce a whole new generation of hockey players in India.

    5. Timely Reminder “It’s been a long time coming. People were forgetting hockey in India. They loved hockey, but they had stopped hoping that we would win. But we won today. They can expect more from us in the future. Keep believing in us.” exclaims Rupinder Pal Singh, the tenacious fullback.
It is indeed a reminder of India’s decorated past in this sport, and that the game has only just begun for a new breed of Indian hockey.
Coming from a humble family, where my elder brother who was a former state-level Hockey player, had to sacrifice his career in sports. He also had to leave his education midway to opt for a marginal job to support our father financially, so that I could pursue Hockey.

In the pursuit of an Olympic medal, the Indian Men’s Hockey Team won our hearts as well, and we couldn’t be more proud of them.

Indian women's hockey team created history as they qualified for the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics for the very first time after defeating Australia 1-0. We surely were celebrating the big win but they lost the semi-final match against Argentina. But, we should still be proud as they did manage to give a tough fight to the opponents. The women's team still has a chance to get a bronze back home. We need to appreciate their determination and root for the players.
It’s surely a nostalgic moment for all the cast members of the Bollywood movie Chak De! India. They have been rooting for the win and hoping the Indian National Team also gets their ‘Chak De! India’ moment. Directed by Shimit Amin, the film revolved around the state of women’s Hockey in the country. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan as Kabir Khan, a fictional former captain of the Indian hockey team. It was inspirational to see how the girls won the final match in the movie.

When we tried to search what the cast members are up to now, here’s what we got to know:
Sagarika Ghatge As Preeti Sabarwal  © YRF

It has been a while since Vidya Malvade has been seen on the big screen but when she appeared in Chak De! India, she was not a new face as she had many roles before that. She is now a yoga teacher and enthusiast. In an interview with HT, she had talked about taking a break from movies. She said, “I just at some point decided after the kind of movies I was getting like I did a couple of films and I was really not happy. Then I realized why am I doing this to myself if I am not happy on a set. It is like going to my workplace, which is my temple and if I am not happy then there is no point doing work, is there.” She also added, “Then I just gave myself a break and decided that I am not going to go back and sign another film which does not keep my excitement going and make me go like, ‘oh my god I can’t wait to play this character.’ I just didn’t want to be doing something just like that. It took a couple of films to realize that mujhe nahi karna hai and mujhse ye aur nahi ho raha hai.”

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve and never shies away from speaking his mind both on and off the field.

Unlike his predecessor MS Dhoni who used to deal with everything with a cool head, Kohli is not known for his calmness and maturity. We have often seen him losing his cool during press conferences and many of us wonder why he reacts in the manner that he does.
On numerous occasions, Kohli has described the public criticism as “nonsense” and something which doesn’t affect him at all. But there was a time when it did.
In fact, in the early part of his career, he used to try extra hard to prove others that he belonged to this level and put himself under undue pressure which affected his game massively.
    © Reuters
In Kohli’s own words, he used to treat every foreign tour like an “engineering exam” and wanted to show people that he was good enough to play at the highest level.

"To be honest, before that Australia tour, I was treating every foreign tour like, more like an engineering exam, that I have to pass somehow and I have to show people that I can play at this level," Kohli told Dinesh Karthik during a Sky Sports interview.
    © Twitter/SkySports
This unnecessary pressure affected his game and then came the England tour in 2014 where he failed miserably and even went through depression.

The failure worked as an eye-opener for him and he realised whoever he was trying to please had nothing to do with his life.
During his struggle days, not many people came forward to help him and that was when he realised that to succeed, he would have to cut the white noise down and instead of winning people over, his focus should be only on his performance.

"There I realised that once you are down and out, there was hardly anyone who came to help me, there was hardly anyone who was looking towards me and saying listen let’s work together and you know try to get your game up to speed, everyone was just going after me left, right and centre. So, I was like I am playing to prove these people wrong, for what, I have got nothing to do with them, they literally have nothing to contribute in my life,” said Kohli, explaining why he turned a cold shoulder to the public opinion from critics as well as the media.

    © Reuters
Kohli went into the next series against Australia with a new approach and found instant success as he scored nearly 700 runs, with the help of four hundreds and since then, he has never allowed anyone’s opinion affect him and his game.

That said, a public figure can’t run away from criticism and our only advice for the Indian captain would be that instead of slamming the critics, he should learn to respect their opinions.

India’s COVID-19 woes are far from over as the pandemic is still raging in the country. As of today, over eight states have reported a rise in the ‘R-Factor’ (rate or speed at which a disease spreads in a community). 44 districts across India have reported a high est positivity rate. 18 districts also saw an increase in infections over the past four weeks.
