You’re looking at yourself in the washroom mirror, wondering where things went awry. Why is it that despite your best efforts it seems that your date is looking for polite excuses to bail? Is it because you’ve not been in the public sphere for a while and have forgotten how to interact with other human beings? Or maybe because you are so smitten by them that you’ve found yourself completely tongue tied and unable to take forward a conversation without saying something seemingly incorrect? Or perhaps you never learnt better.
Whatever your reasons be, here’s a quick refresher on 5 things that might be ruining all your first dates:
Treating Servers Badly - Let’s get one thing straight. Being rude to anyone on any date is an instant redflag. So it’s not surprising if your person of interest lost all semblance of interest in you right after you whistled at the waitstaff to attend to your table. In a bid to impress your date (by being an a-hole?), you may have pooched up your chances.  However, a lesson is only good if it's learnt. So next time onwards, be consciously careful and respectful in the way you speak to the staff helping out there.

Foul Mouthing Your Exes - It sucks that your ex broke your heart, and it genuinely may have been their fault as well, but the first date isn’t necessarily the best time to bring them up. Especially if you’re still grieving over the previous heartache. Some people take it a step forward and start talking trash about their exes. A peculiar attempt at trauma bonding with their date. The way you talk about your exes shows your date how you treat people once they’ve become a part of your past. So if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t mention them.

Being On The Phone All The Time - What happens when two people talk for weeks on the phone, planning and plotting for their perfect first date only for it to be ruined by your preoccupation with your mobile phone? My best guess from personal experience is that they’d probably stop replying to your texts once the date is over, and hope for this encounter to fizzle away. Now that you’ve manifested your person of interest in front of you, try and pay attention to them and NOT your device. Few things are as attractive as undivided attention from a potential partner.

    © iStock
Poor Hygiene - Quick check, would you be attracted to someone with poor hygiene? Chances are you won’t, and yet you’ve successfully omitted yourself from the list from whom such expectations are held. Unless your vocation demands so, please don’t forget to groom yourself for your dates. You’re going to meet someone for the first time, someone you’ve been desperately trying to impress for a while. Odds would be in your favour if you don’t skimp on the mouthwash and shower.

Criticizing Your Date's Interests - Sometimes, we forget that there’s a difference between an engaging conversation and a critical one. Remember “So, what are your interests?” should ideally sound like the beginning of an engaging and fun conversation. It most definitely shouldn’t sound like a threat with an attempt at criticizing and bringing down your date not far away in the sequence. That’s an utter dick move. So what if your date’s into astrology? You’re into Crypto. They're not judging you for it. Now I’m not telling you to feign interest in topics that you genuinely aren’t arsed about. Be honest about it and chances are they’ll understand that. But most definitely do not make them feel bad about the life they’ve lived unprivy to you.

The dating world might seem difficult to navigate, but it doesn’t have to be so. Hopefully these tips will help you with your next date! All the best!

For a country that is supremely superstitious and would actually believe that shapeshifters and dayans do exist in the real world, our shows based around the theme are a serious disappointment.
In the name of supernatural fiction, we only get shows about icchadhari naagins, jinns and churails who get entangled in family melodrama with bad, really bad, revenge plots.
    © BBC Worldwide
The supernatural world is so much more than bahus turning into flies. Let me rephrase that. The supernatural world does not consist of bahus turning into flies or men turning into a tiger or a bull!

While Hollywood shows like True Blood, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and Lucifer have a huge fan base, even in India, our desi shows based on the same genre always tank.
    © Balaji Telefilms
We had some really cool and sensible TV shows back in the day that actually got the supernatural theme right, like Vikram aur Betaal and Achanak 37 Saal Baad. However, not anymore.

Here are some really annoying things that make most modern Indian supernatural shows cringe pro max:
    1. Bad Makeup & VFX © Balaji Telefilms
The graphics and makeup are the essence of any supernatural or fantasy-themed show and getting these things wrong is what puts off the audience.

From ketchup-like blood to bad visual effects, Indian shows are guilty of committing all these sins.
    2. Far From Reality © Balaji Telefilms
Okay, we understand that the supernatural world isn’t real and it’s one genre where makers can go wild with their imagination. However, it should at least be a bit believable.

Vampires and werewolves are mentioned in folktales and have an eerie aura attached to it, but who are they trying to scare with a woman turning into a peacock?
    3. Melodramatic Plotlines
Indian TV shows have a serious problem of making every story revolve around saas-bahu drama, eventually. Supernatural themed shows aren’t any different and go off-track pretty soon.
While daily soap Sasural Simar Ka turned into a supernatural drama, shows like Nazar and Kavach got entangled in the same old household drama.
    4. Senseless Content © Rashmi Sharma Telefilms
There is nothing sensible or horror-like about most Indian supernatural shows which they are supposed to be. In fact, they are mindless and hilarious rather than fascinating.

A woman turning into a fly isn’t a gripping content that keeps you on the edge of your seat, but it does give you a headache.
    5. No originality © BBC Worldwide
India has so many bases to touch upon when it comes to the supernatural world and superstitions that are popular in Indian culture that could not only be interesting but bone-chilling.

However, we get stuck on naagins and dayans. Plus, in the name of vampire-themed shows, we get poor rip-offs like MTV Fanaah and Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahaani.

Here’s the protagonist from Nazar playing a cheap copy of Medusa.

We are so done with Indian supernatural shows!

In an ‘everything is fast’ world, electric trimmers and cartridge razors may make the most sense to young men as grooming essentials to get rid of facial hair. But nothing beats the idea of shaving to get that sharp look, especially when you are in the phase of graduating from a young man to a gentleman.
Shaving not only is a more effective way to get rid of facial hair but also helps exfoliate your pores and slough away the dead skin.
All you need is some technique and some practice, for shaving is an art.
That said, there will still be times when you shave day in and out and may still get a few cuts and nicks. This is because an old shaving razor and a plain foam cream can only get you so close to your close shave.
So, while you practice to master the technique to shave to shine, don’t forget to couple it with the right tools and products as well.
Here's your ultimate guide on how to shave like a true gentleman and the right products to enhance your shaving experience.
Prep-Up Your Face With A Warm Wash It’s best to start by soaking your face in warm water to make the skin and hair soft. Use a mild cleanser to wash your face as it helps tame your brittle hair and make it more manageable to be tackled with a razor.
You can also use a face scrub to smoothen the skin and solve the problem of ingrown hair right at its cause. Don’t pat dry, let your face be moist all the while.

Lather Up With A Shaving FoamShaving foam creates a layer of cushion between the skin and the blades that helps provide a smooth razor glide. It also helps avoid nicks and cuts and leaves you with smooth skin.
Consider a shaving foam with activated charcoal as it helps deeply cleanse your skin and
remove debris from pores. It’s supple texture leaves your skin feeling super soft and hydrated.
The shaving foam hydrates and prepares the skin for the most comfortable shave while reducing the chance of irritation.

Pick The Right Razor & Be GentleA perfectly engineered razor is the key to a close shave.
Pick up a razor and gently start shaving in the direction of hair growth, followed by shaving against the grain at stubborn areas.
Be nice to your skin and use short strokes for a no-bumps shave. Rinse the blades after each stroke to minimize friction and achieve an effortless and smooth shaving experience.
    __ECOMPRODUCT__1970__
Finish With An Aftershave LotionMoisturizing post shaving is a must. Bombay Shaving Company’s Fitkari After Shave Gel is a perfect way to finish your shave.
Dab a copious amount of gel on your fresh face to soothe the skin, calm irritation and any aftershave burn.
Enriched with superfoods like Aloe Vera and Fitkari (Alum), the gel has antibacterial properties that ensures that it not only stops bleeding in case of small nicks and razor cuts but also prevents any infection.
    __ECOMPRODUCT__1971__
Lock In Extra Hydration With A Sheet MaskFrequent shaving can strip the skin of its natural moisture. Following your shaving ritual with a sheet mask or using a sheet mask once a week can help bring the lost moisture back in your skin.
Try one with Charcoal as a key ingredient to detoxify, restore and rejuvenate your skin from within.
    __ECOMPRODUCT__1545__
Dos & Don’ts Keep your face wet throughout the routine
    Always moisturize post shaving
Avoid using soap as it can strip your skin of moisture
Never use an expired or blunt razor
Final Thoughts With the monsoons arriving, your skin can go through multiple issues. Monsoons can dehydrate dry skin and excessively hydrate oily skin. It can also make your beard hair brittle and itch, making you reach out for your trimmer to get rid of facial hair.
But, we hope with our guide on how to shave like a gentleman, you will act like one and consider shaving as the best solution.

At an age when most of us were busy playing video games, fighting with our siblings for our favourite toys, deciding who was more powerful- Superman or Batman, Abhimanyu Mishra, an American child prodigy of Indian-origin, has scripted history, becoming the youngest chess Grandmaster in the world.
Abhimanyu achieved the highest title in chess at the age of 12 years, four months and 25 days, shattering Sergey Karjakin's 19-year-old record (12-years-and-7 months) by over two months.
However, the road to glory wasn’t as easy as it seemed.
The boy from New Jersey already holds the youngest International Master distinction which he earned in November 2019 at 10 years, 9 months and 20 days. In doing so, he had gone past India's R Praggnanandhaa’s record.
    — Susan Ninan (@ninansusan) June 30, 2021
Ever since he became the world’s youngest International Master last year at the age of 10 years, 9 months and 20 days, Abhimanyu had set his eyes on his next goal which was to become the world’s youngest Grandmaster and he achieved the feat thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.
How, you ask? The event -- Vezerkepzo GM Mix -- where Abhimanyu created the new world record wasn’t supposed to happen and took players only because several players had stayed back due to the travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally checkmated the biggest opponent (ongoing pandemic ) which stopped me for 14 months. Thanks everybody for all your love and support.
Looking forward for World cup. pic.twitter.com/llao5ZMMhC
    — Abhimanyu.mishra.chess (Youngest GM) in the world) (@ChessMishra) June 30, 2021
So, the organisers in Budapest decided to conduct the event just to provide him with one final shot at the record and the rest, as they say, is history. Abhimanyu was invited to take part in the FIDE World Cup in Sochi and knew this would be his last chance this month before leaving for Russia.
Apart from the fact that he was born in an Indo-American family, Abhimanyu’s story had another Indian connection. He scripted history after defeating 15-year-old Indian GM Leon Luke Mendonca.

Only five players in history have managed to get the prestigious title before their 13th birthday, which proves how difficult of a task it is to achieve.

Three years ago, India’s Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu came close to breaking Karjakin's record but missed it by a close margin. He became the GM at 12 years, 10 months, 13 days.

Another child prodigy, Gukesh Dommaraju, became India’s youngest GM at the age of 12 years, 7 months, 17 days. He is the world's third-youngest Grandmaster, only behind Abhimanyu and Karjakin.

With congratulations pouring in from all quarters, many described him as a threat to the supremacy of Magnus Carlsen -- the No. 1 chess player in the world -- and the speed at which Abhimanyu is going after records, we wouldn’t be surprised if he went on to become the next big thing in chess.
    @MagnusCarlsen in danger ☠️

There has to be something seriously wrong with you if you found Delhi Belly boring. Saying that it was a laughter riot, would be grossly underselling the film. Back then, in 2011, the film won some awards, but largely won a lot of hearts. It was a proper box office blockbuster.

    © UTV Motion Pictures
It did not matter, whether you watched the film in Hindi or English, there were some pretty comically charged sequences that didn’t even need any dialogues.

And let’s not even get started on some of the iconic songs that the movie gave us.
Well, people on twitter, had some pretty anecdotes about the film and what they liked about it, and trust us, they were just as funny as the film itself.
Go Goa Gone & Delhi Belly - you've your name in two cult comedies. Great!
    — Sambit Samal (@LamasTibmas July 1, 2021 As disgusting as it was, this was an epic scene...
It's one of my go-to films, along with A Fish Called Wanda. The only problem is that some of the bathroom scenes have put me off orange juice for the rest of my life!
    — Joy Bhattacharjya (@joybhattacharj July 1, 2021 Someone tried trolling him, and got smacked down, pretty hard.
Maybe sas bahu shows are more your speed.
    — auntie fA (@auntie_f4 July 1, 2021 We couldn’t agree more...
    All-time favorite.
You guys were all superb, but the biggest stars were the script and screenplay.
    — J. Alfred Prufrock (@Alfred_Prufrock July 1, 2021 This, hands down, was one of the funniest exchanges of the film.
Aare tu takla kyu hogaya hai?
    Woh ladki chor gayi mujhe
Aur usne tere baal bhi leliye?
    — Rajdeep Kashyap (@Rajdeepkashyap8 July 1, 2021 pic.twitter.com/Izc26Mdkz4
    — Ujval Nanavati (@cynical_ujval July 1, 2021I remember watching this movie in a theatre in Delhi with couple of frnds. Next to me there was a very elderly couple laughing their heart out. This movie was indeed a masterpiece.
    — ALTAF KHAN (@altaf89 July 1, 2021It is actually a sad affair, that movies that were as outrageous as this one, aren’t made anymore. Bollywood, if you’re reading this, can we please have more films like these, instead of stuff like Radhe?
