In a story that would perhaps make the perfect sequel for a film like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, a disgruntled employee of a news channel posed as PM Modi’s personal secretary to get a new and better paying job at a different news channel.
© UTV Motion Pictures
Bharat Verma, a resident of Greater Noida, works with a news channel based in Noida. Recently, Verma’s organisation introduced a series of pay cuts for all of its employees. While all the other disgruntled employees accepted their fate and those pay cuts begrudgingly, Verma decided to act on it.
© iStock
He sent an email to the CEO of a national news channel based in Noida, where he introduced himself as Abhijeet, the personal assistant to the personal secretary of Prime Minister Modi. In the email, Verma informed the CEO that PM Modi’s secretary would like to have a word with him, and would like to allocate a time for that.
© BCCL
The CEO of the news channel promptly set up a call for the next day. The next day, at the set time, a person called the CEO and introduced himself as the personal secretary of Prime Minister Modi. The caller then said that a man named Bharat Verma should be given an opportunity to work for the news channel and that he would be sending his resume shortly.

The next day, an interview was set up between the CEO & Verma. When Verma arrived for the job interview, the staff, as well as the CEO, grew a little suspicious. Upon further investigation, they found out that it was Verma who had sent them that email, and it was Bharat who had called them.
A complaint was lodged against Verma and he was promptly handed over to the police, who booked him under sections 419 (cheating by personation) and 170 (personating a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code.

In a statement to the Times Of India, the Noida police said that Verma worked at the desk of a news channel, where there were pay cuts. They believe Verma hatched this plan, thinking that this would be the best and possibly sureshot way to land a job at a different news channel, without having to go through a rigorous background check.

Now, we know that people often lie on their resumes, but this was a boss level move that ultimately backfired. Do let us know in the comments what you think about fudging references and work history to secure a new job.

“There will not be a magic day when we wake up and it’s now okay to express ourselves publicly. We make that day by doing things publicly until it’s simply the way things are.” – Tammy Baldwin
It’s more than important in the present times to normalize homosexual orientations and accept them as a part of our society. They are no different than you and me. The battle against societal taboos and legal prejudices faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other members of the LGBTQIA+ community have been setting the grounds for ages. It’s time that we all respect non-heterosexual orientations.
With some shows and movies in mainstream Indian cinema, things have started to gradually change for the better but it will still take ages for people to finally accept it as normal. For making people accept homosexuality, we need to start talking a little more than we do. We need more actors, movies, and shows shedding light on the fact that it’s important to have a dialogue.
As people are celebrating Pride Month, MensXP got in touch with Mrinal Dutt who played a homosexual in his show, His Story. The show sees Satyadeep Mishra and Mrinal Dutt play gay characters. The show is sending out a message that it’s normal to fall in love with someone of the same gender.

Mrinal Dutt had no qualms in playing a homosexual character and in fact, he is more than happy that he got a chance to initiate a conversation.
Here are the excerpts from the interview:
As MensXP is celebrating Pride Month, we are trying to initiate a dialogue. Many men from the industry haven’t dared to play a homosexual o screen. We obviously had Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar, in the recent past, playing homosexuals on screen. You too have addressed homosexuality through your character in His Story. Do you think it’s somewhere unfortunate to have only a handful of men taking up such roles?
I think it’s unfortunate. I didn’t think even once before taking up the role and about how it would be presented on the screen. We will be showing it on mainstream cinema platform was more important to me than me playing a homosexual. It’s sad because we don’t have more stories that can portray homosexuality on screen. I have no qualms about playing a homosexual on screen. I never had any apprehensions about taking up the role.
Despite actors like you speaking about homosexuality through your show, many people in the industry are still hiding in their closets and somewhere are scared to accept their sexuality. Do you think shows like His Story and movies like Shubh Mangal Zyada Saadhan will give them the courage and have an impact on them?
Most definitely. The show has catered to the masses and people sitting at homes watched it. My cousins, my bua, and all my family members loved how the show didn’t go overboard. It’s a story where two lead men are gay and it’s represented as a normal love story. That was the only important criteria for me. It reached a lot of people. Many uncles and neighbours who earlier never had a conversation about homosexuality called me and my mother and appreciated it. I feel there have to be more stories and more actors need to take up such roles.
© Alt Balaji
Has playing a homosexual on screen somewhere widened your perspective? Saying that I don’t mean you weren’t sensitive earlier. People see homosexuals in a different light and tag them but they are just like us. What do you have to say about it?
I don’t like people addressing homosexuals as they and them. We have been conditioned like that because no one in our families has been comfortable talking about homosexuality. It’s because of the lack of understanding that people have been demarcating homosexuals by tagging them. People think of them as some entities who aren’t normal but they are just like you and me. Fortunately, people like you and me belong to the industry where we meet people who are homosexuals and we have had that exposure. Yes, the understanding did get deeper and we definitely need to think of everyone as one. They also long for love and I have become more accepting.
© Alt Balaji
I truly appreciate the fact that you have become more accepting of homosexuality. You know there have been arguments that why can’t homosexuals play the part in the movie when it’s addressing it.
Zaroori nahi hai. If a director has to make a movie on a gangster, he or she won’t find a real gangster to play the part. People raise issues when they feel it has been misinterpreted but fortunately, it didn’t happen with His Story. I have been only getting positive messages for playing Preet. People thank me for playing the part and they are a few who have contacted me saying that it’s their story. Everyone said that we did justice. We are actors and we play the part as we are told to.
We are surely progressing but it will still take many years of deeper understanding to accept homosexuality in its truest sense and not see it as something not natural. But in the process, people who are finding it hard to accept themselves and making society love them have gone through mental health issues. What do you want to say about it?
Absolutely. The conflict starts with the fact when they are made to feel that they are not a part of society. We should have an inclusive society. I am very troubled with the fact if I am unable to put my points forth and on the other hand, people have to live a life where they can’t accept their sexuality in front of the public, it can be very suffocating. It’s lethal and damaging for people who can’t accept their sexualities. I am glad that I could do something to make people understand that it’s normal. It does damage them emotionally and mentally. If we speak more about it in mainstream cinema, it will be normalized.
© Alt Balaji
We have talked about your portrayal of homosexuality on the screen. Now, I want to take you back to the time when you decided that you want to pursue acting as your profession.
I think I was always in that phase of my life where I was a sportsman. I have even gone to the UK for playing Cricket. I literally had no idea that what I wanted with my life. In my college, we had a very cool drama society, and just to pass my time, I started to hang out with the society members after my practice. I used to do plays here and there. I was always fascinated by films. In my college, I did some street plays and started to enjoy them. I did some ads in Delhi and then I was asked to come to Mumbai for some auditions. Once I came to Mumbai, I knew very well that I have to pursue acting.
© Exclusive PR Handout/ Keerat Publicity
You just told me that you were called to Mumbai for auditions. Were you ever rejected in the audition that you prepared for?
To be honest, the initial days weren’t bad. The first two years were great as I did ads with celebs like Ranbir Kapoor. The challenges start when you start picking up the roles and choosing what you want to do. I am very optimistic like that and my passion for it has grown over years. I love my craft and my life revolves around it.

What about your upcoming shows?
I have something that I have to start shooting after the lockdown goes away and things get normal. It’s not named yet but I am excited to tell stories and we will get more chances to chat again (laughs).

There are always a few things that people need to discuss before making their relationship official. Now, these discussions are never easy. However, one mustn't shy away from them. You might end up knowing many things that you didn't know about your partner before. Also, it's always better to place everything on the table before you get your feelings involved.
Obviously, you won't agree on everything but that’s how you understand what your significant other expects out of you. Also, before having this conversation, just make sure that you tell the truth to each other, or else there won't be a point in doing this at all.
So, here we go-
Deal Breakers © Unsplash
There is always going to be a few things that drive you nuts and you wouldn't want them to come in between your relationship. For example, some people are okay with the fact that their partner is flirting with other people. However, for some, this could be a deal-breaker. Also, if one person in the relationship is an obsessive drinker and the other one doesn't like it at all. Make sure your partner is well informed about whatever things are total deal-breakers for you.
How You'll Handle Fights © Unsplash
Arguments are inevitable and honestly, it will be unhealthy if you and your partner never fight. But the curve of your relationship can change depending upon how you both handle your fights. There is always going to be a conflict, but, you both have to find a middle ground to get over it.
For example, some people need space after fighting, others just want to resolve an issue before going to bed or else they won't be able to sleep.
So, it's fine to not want to be exactly similar and still being able to find a way out. If your partner wants to go to bed and not fight at 2:30 am, maybe, you can take up this conversation the next day. This way you get what you want and your partner gets what she wants.
Career Paths © Unsplash
Your partner should be well aware of your dreams and aspirations and vice-versa. It's paramount for both people to know what their personal goals are and if they coincide with each other or not.
Maybe, she wants to apply for a job in a different country and you want to never move to another country or you want to travel the world and work in different countries while she is a home-bird.
You both may want different things but still want to work it out, which is doable too, but at least you'll be aware of what the other person wants.
Finances © Unsplash
This would matter if you two are getting married. Many couples fight over money and they aren't sure if they want to pool their money together or keep separate accounts.
Now, if you are in a relationship, a lot of people also fight over spending money- one is spending too much and the other isn't contributing anything.
Also, if getting married, some people are crazy about saving money and few are not serious about it. This is another major problem in relationships. So, money does come between people and ruin a lot of things. However, we can stop that from happening by finding a solution beforehand.
So, don't abscond from the 'relationship conversation.' Discussing these few points can take you a long way and make your bond stronger.

Dhanush certainly must be on cloud nine, given just how massively successful his latest film, Jagame Thandhiram has been on Netflix.
© Netflix
Not just in India, the film has been massively popular overseas as well. Netflix themselves say that over half of the viewers of the film came from overseas.
© Netflix
To commemorate the success of this film, and in fact of the business of all his films of late, Dhanush recently performed the bhoomi pujan for his new home.
© Netflix
Dhanush’s new home will be built in one of Chennai’s poshest residential areas, Poes Garden. The piece of land that Dhanush is going to build his house on, is apparently 19000 sq. ft in size. The price of the land, however, is still a mystery.
What is not a mystery is just how lavish Dhanush’s house is going to be. The new house, which is already under construction, will comprise of four storeys and will cost about Rs 150 crores, just for the construction, if the reports that a popular Tamil entertainment channel called Valai Pechu, is to be believed. The report also claims that a total of eight plots were combined to come up with the 19,000 sq ft area.
© Netflix
The furnishing and all other ancillary costs are yet to be decided.
Poes Garden is one of the most esteemed neighbourhoods not just in Chennai, but in India as well. Starting from top-notch film stars, to eminent politicians and industrialists, the neighbourhood houses the who’s who of India.
© Magic Brick
The former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J. Jayalalithaa, had a home in the neighbourhood, and so does Rajinikanth. In fact, Dhanush will actually be moving in closer to his father-in-law Rajinikanth, once the construction of his new home is complete.
© Instagram/dhanushkraja
On the work front, Dhanush will be seen in the Russo brother’s next project, called The Gray Man, where he will be sharing the screen with Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Wagner Moura, the guy who played Pablo Escobar in Narcos. Dhanush is currently occupied with the principal photography for the film.
© IMDb
If certain sources are to be believed, people close to Dhanush are lobbying with the Russo brothers for Dhanush to be made a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, there have been no confirmed reports from either of the camps.
© IMDb
Well, whether the speculations are true or not, one thing is for certain - his fans would certainly go bonkers if he indeed manages to sing a Marvel film. And perhaps, so will we.

There can be many legitimate reasons to call off a wedding and walk away. The groom’s family demanding dowry, the groom reeking of alcohol, or his lack of basic education. However, sometimes, the reason to call off a wedding can be downright bizarre.
© iStock
A groom from Odisha’s Keonjhar district called off his wedding when the baraatis accompanying him were not served mutton at his wedding. What’s more, is that the groom then got married to another woman from the same village where the wedding was supposed to take place, before returning to Keonjhar.
© iStock
The groom, who has been identified as Ramakant Patra by local news agencies, reached Bandhagaon village in Sukinda on Wednesday this week, to get married to the girl his parents had selected for him.
Like all Indian Baraatis, in all Indian weddings, they too were fashionably late to the wedding venue. During this time, the Bride’s family proceeded to start the lunch service for their guests.
In spite of the baraatis being fashionably late, the bride’s family welcomed them with great pomp, and then proceeded with the rituals. Once a part of the rituals was done, the groom’s guests were invited for lunch.
© iStock
Before the lunch, the baraatis had “requested” that they were served mutton curry. However, once they were seated for lunch, they realised that mutton wasn’t on the menu, even after their request, they got into a heated argument with the bride’s family, and started dissing the arrangements that were made.
© iStock
At this point, the groom too got involved in the tussle and finally called the wedding off. The groom’s family tried to persuade Patra but in vain. Soon, Patra and his family walked away from the wedding venue, and went to one of their relative’s house nearby, to spend the rest of the day.
Here’s where things get interesting. That same evening, Patra got married to a different woman from the same village, without much pomp, in a rather understated manner.
© iStock
The first bride’s family, obviously did not take this well. However, local police say that no complaint has been registered by the family.
If anyone wanted proof about just how weird and wild Indian weddings can be, this is a great example.

One factor that every Team India fan, be it a supporter or a critic, would agree to, was the batting conditions being extremely difficult at least until the Reserve Day of the World Test Championship final at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl arena.
Constant rain and the windy weather made it extremely difficult for the batters to look for those non-deviating balls to go for the big shots. The cloud overcast for the better half of the day made it rather difficult to see and the added help to the swing wasn’t making things any easier.
View this post on Instagram
As a result, none of the members of the Indian cricket team were able to hit the 50-run mark in either of the innings while some of the most well-known, and established batsmen struggled to even cross the 20-run threshold.
Still somehow, all the blame for the collapse of the Indian batting lineup has ended up falling on the shoulders of top-order batsman of the squad, Cheteshwar Pujara, who made 15 and 8 runs in the first and second innings, respectively.
View this post on Instagram
In a conversation with Sports Tak, former Indian captain and all-time great Sunil Gavaskar defended Pujara and protested all the hate that was coming toward the 33-year old.
“Forget about India, look at the way New Zealand batsmen like Kane Williamson, Devon Conway and even Ross Taylor started their innings. They were also slow at the beginning just like Pujara. Now if you still want to point a finger at him, then we can’t really do anything about it,” Gavaskar said with a straight face.
“He (Pujara) is one of those guys, whose solidity allows the players on the other end of the pitch to comfortably play the big strokes, knowing that at least one side of the partnership is being held by Cheteshwar Pujara.”
A lot of this negative focus also has to do with what Team captain, Virat Kohli said after losing the final, in the press conference.
"We will not wait for a year or so and have to plan ahead. If you see our white-ball team now, we have great depth and guys are ready and confident. The same thing needs to be done with Test cricket,” Kohli said while teasing the speculations of a major overhaul of the Indian Test squad.
"You have to reassess and replan and understand what dynamics work for the team and how we can be fearless. Bring in (the) right people who have (the) right mindset to perform," the skipper added.
A day after the conference, a BCCI official told The Times of India, that in the upcoming Test series against England, Kohli will be experimenting at the number three position while bringing in either KL Rahul or Hanuma Vihari to place at 4 instead of him. This would inevitably lead to Pujara’s ouster from the squad.
