A couple of years ago, Netflix produced The Game Changers, a documentary on why human beings weren’t supposed to eat meat, how they were biologically meant to consume plants and numerous other plant-based products, and how turning vegetarian, or better yet, going vegan would help them live better, healthier lives.

And even though Virat Kohli was only shown for a brief second at the very end of the documentary, as an advocate of vegetarianism, the Team India captain had expressed at length, his affection for vegetarian food and how incredible he felt after turning to plants for his nutritional needs.
Saw game changers on Netflix. Being a vegetarian athlete has made me realise what I have believed all these years regarding diet was a myth. What an amazing documentary and yes I’ve never felt better in my life after I turned vegetarian.
    — Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) October 23, 2019
“Saw game changers on Netflix. Being a vegetarian athlete has made me realise what I have believed all these years regarding diet was a myth. What an amazing documentary and yes I’ve never felt better in my life after I turned vegetarian,” Kohli had said when the documentary was released back in 2019.
In 2020, Kohli even explained at length why he decided to turn vegetarian during his Instagram Live conversation with Kevin Pietersen.
    View this post on Instagram
"Left eating meat just before the England Test series. In 2018, when we went to South Africa, I got a cervical spine issue while playing a test match. It compressed a nerve that was running straight till my little finger of my right hand. It gave me a tingling sensation and I could barely feel my little finger. I could not sleep at night and it was hurting like mad," Kohli said in the video.
"Then I got my tests done and my stomach was too acidic and my body was too acidic, creating too much uric acid. Even though I was taking calcium, magnesium, everything but one tablet was not sufficient for my body to function properly. So, my stomach started pulling calcium from my bones and my bones got weaker. That is why I stopped eating meat completely in the middle of England tour to cut down the uric acid and I have never felt better in my life, to be honest," he added.

"I felt amazing, it is almost two years now and it is the best decision I have taken... it made me feel why I didn't do it before," he said.
It was groundbreaking. The idea of India’s fittest cricketer, the man who revolutionised the fitness culture within the Men in Blue was a vegetarian? That’s got to be worth something, right?
    © Instagram - Virat Kohli
The only problem was that two years down the line, Kohli decided to have an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session with his followers on Instagram and revealed that he includes eggs in his diet. Unfortunately for the skipper, the fans of Indian cricket follow him a bit too closely and have a stronger memory than he’d imagined.

    View this post on Instagram
The moment Kohli’s self-written “diet plan” got out, trolls began to remind the skipper about how “great” vegetarian food had made him feel back then started asking him for the reason to going back to the poultry.
Hmmm..probably #ViratKohli has eggs only from fully "vegan" hens.. hence eggs are vegan.
    — Rita Singh (@Rita_2110) May 31, 2021It depends on the type of eggs. You see, Virat Kohli eats eggs which a hen vomits instead of laying out. This is why, the eggs consumed by Virat Kohli are vegetarian in nature.
    — PotliBaba (@PotliBaba1) May 31, 2021Kohli Sir @imVkohli konsa Vegan Eggs Khata hai? Holi Diwali Pe Animal Activist ban jate hai fir Egg me kya Paneer bharke khate ho ?
    — Himani Roy (@himanisarcassm) May 31, 2021Virat Kohli claims he is a vegan but in his latest AMA, he said his diet includes eggs. That's bothering me.

The Suo Moto case that was argued in the Supreme Court Of India this week, regarding the government’s handling of the COVID-19 Pandemic has gone viral on Twitter, newsrooms and social media.

    © BCCL
Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud, the justice heading the three-judge bench hearing the case, made a series of scathing remarks that spoke volumes about the manner in which the government has managed the pandemic, and how it is managing the vaccination drive.

    © BCCL
We list out some of the statements that Justice Chandrachud made at the hearing.

    © Wiki Commons
Bharat is a union of states.Justice Chandrachud: I was reading the Constitution. Article 1 says that Bharat is a Union of States. When the Constitution says that, then we follow the federal rule. Then Government of India has to procure the vaccines and distribute it. Individual States are left in a lurch.
    — Live Law (@LiveLawIndia) May 31, 2021
One of the opening remarks that Justice Chandrachud made was in response to the fact that states have been asked to procure vaccines on their own, as the central govt maintains that health is a “state” matter.
BMC has more funds than a state. What about states like UP? Will you be negotiating or will they be left on their own?Justice Chandrachud: Look at BOMBAY Municipal Corporation. They have funds which could be more than a State. But, what about States such as UP ? Will you be negotiating or will they be left on their own ? The amicus can formulate the issues and you can respond to that.
    — Live Law (@LiveLawIndia) May 31, 2021
This was again in light of the fact that state governments have been asked to procure vaccines on their own. This statement highlights the budgetary disparity between various states, and whether the central government will allay these disparities.
Why do the states have to pay a higher price?Justice Chandrachud: If this is the rationale, why do the States have to pay a higher price ? You have to ensure that vaccines are available at the same price across the nation. You can’t have a price at the Centre. #SupremeCourtofIndia #COVID19
    — Live Law (@LiveLawIndia) May 31, 2021
This is a sentiment that has been shared by a number of state heads, as well as political pundits.
Is it realistically possible for people in rural areas to start registering on this app?Justice Chandrachud: What about the digital divide ? Everyone has to register on COWIN. Is it realistically possible for people in rural areas to start registering on this app ? How do you expect them to do that ? Our own law clerks and friends have tried.
    — Live Law (@LiveLawIndia) May 31, 2021
This becomes a scathing indictment of the manner in which the CoWIN & Aarogya Setu apps have been made mandatory to get vaccinated. Seriously, what becomes of people who aren’t able to register themselves on either of the two platforms.
You keep saying Digital India, Digital India, but you are not aware of the ground realities.Justice Chandrachud: You keep saying that situation is dynamic, but you have to keep your ears on the ground. You keep saying digital India, digital India, but you are not aware of the ground realities. A poor worker from Jharkhand has to go all the way to a common centre ?
    — Live Law (@LiveLawIndia) May 31, 2021
While Digital India was an exemplary initiative it has its drawbacks and limitations. Justice Chandrachud pointed that out with some great effect.
You can’t just say that you’re the Centre and you know what’s right.Justice Chandrachud: We are not framing policy. There's an order of 30th April that these are the problems. You will be flexible. You can’t just say that you’re the Centre and you know what’s right. We have a strong arm to come down on this.
    — Live Law (@LiveLawIndia) May 31, 2021
This was a very serious comment on the supposed symbiotic relationship that the Central Government and State Governments are supposed to share.
Digital literacy in India is far from perfect.Justice Chandrachud: If we say there is a problem, we expect you to look into. Digital literacy in India is far from perfect. I am the Chairman of the e-Committee. I have seen the problems which afflict this. You have to be flexible and keep your ears on the ground.
    — Live Law (@LiveLawIndia) May 31, 2021Again an indictment of the fact that in order to get vaccinated, one has to rely on technology that is inaccessible to a large portion of the population. Justice Chandrachud decided to speak from his personal experience to emphasise his point.
I don’t know if a sedition case has been filed against the news channel for showing that.Arora: Why can’t the govt provide some semblance of ritual, which is also for health purposes ?

Bench: We saw a picture of a body being thrown in river.

Justice Chandrachud: I don’t know if a sedition case has been filed against the news channel for showing that.
    — Live Law (@LiveLawIndia) May 31, 2021
This was a loaded comment on a number of levels, but most importantly, it was an indictment of the number of sedition cases that journalists have been charged with. This was also a statement on how the government viewed COVID-19 reportage by the media.

There have been a lot of inspiring weight loss stories on the internet that showed some incredible journies.
Right from a Mumbai girl's transformation from the 'world's fattest kid' to losing 108 Kgs to the story of Officer Kukrele,  the internet has given us several inspiring stories.
While we are in lockdown again, most of us have succumbed to binge-eating and just not giving a damn about our bodies.
But, given the amount of time we now have to spare, here's another inspiring story of an IPS officer who decided to change his life, that will make the couch potato in you want to retire permanently.
    © Instagram/Vivek Raj Singh Kukrele
IPS officer Vivek Raj Singh Kukrele was about 134 Kgs when he joined the National Police Academy. Unhappy with his body, he started training and shed an enormous amount of weight, in less than a year.

The academy helped Vivek achieve the desired weight goal.
In a long post, he went on to talk about his journey. He mentioned that he weighed 88 Kgs in class 8th when being 'chubby' was normalised to being called 'cute'.
Only after he became a part of the academy, he weighed himself and that's when the weight hit a whopping 134 Kgs. He took matters into his hands and with rigorous training, his transformation was impeccable.
    View this post on Instagram
He also mentioned that because of the weight gain, he suffered from hypertension and was under medication for it.

For most of us, eating out of boredom is a hobby. As for the IPS officer, being a foodie himself, eating without mindfulness was the biggest culprit for weight gain as mentioned by him in the post.
His path on the weight loss journey had its own ups and downs. He further explained how he gained weight and spoke about his early days in the Naxal areas of Bihar, where he reached 138 Kgs.

He reached 130 Kgs, after which he took to walking for one of his official assignments. He wrote "Walking became a part of life and I started reducing weight. Gradual weight reduction made me start strength training and mindful eating which further boosted weight reduction.”

He then spoke about having a quantified diet, that helped him shed 43 Kgs and he said that he wants to maintain this body shape for as long as he can.

I feel so inspired after reading this story, I might just wear my running shoes and start working out today itself.

Actor Parineeti Chopra played the lead role in Dibakar Banerjee’s latest release Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and was praised by fans for her performance in the film.

Recently, she talked about experiencing sexism in her life, and talking to Film Companion she said, "This film is uniquely written. People have become so immune to the patriarchy that they don’t even think about it. Women in India face this every day. When I’m getting my house renovated, the contractors don’t talk to me properly because I’m a woman. They ask if there’s someone else at home they can talk to. I say, ‘No, I bought this house, I’ve made the payments. It’s mine so I will choose the tiles.’ When I tell them to talk to me, they refuse. This film has a lot of similarities to my personal life.”
    View this post on Instagram
Talking about her favourite scene in the film, she said, "My favourite scene is the ‘paratha achaar’ one in which all the men are seated while the women are standing. Neena Gupta’s character is also standing. She’s so used to the patriarchy that she’ll never ask Arjun’s character to pass the pickle, but she’ll ask me why I’m seated. “
    View this post on Instagram
She added, “While shooting this scene, I was reminded of the small town I grew up in, where the women weren’t allowed to eat till the men went to sleep. They couldn’t eat while the men were still seated at the dining table. Even at my house, my mother wasn’t allowed to sit and eat. It’s not that my father made her do this, but it was an unspoken rule in the house. The most important thing about this film was the marriage between my character, Sandy, and me – this mixture of real and reel life. This was me saying, ‘Let’s smash the patriarchy.’ We were trying to show how accepted the patriarchy is in India and how much we wish that would change.”

Baba Ramdev recently attacked the use of allopathy and claimed that medicines such as remdesivir approved by the Drugs Controller General of India for coronavirus treatment had failed.
“Lakhs of patients have died because of allopathic medicines rather than a shortage of oxygen,” he claimed. In a session, he called allopathy a ‘stupid science’ and also bashed all the methods that allopathy brought in for the treatment of the deadly virus.
Yesterday, he took to Twitter to share an old video of Akshay Kumar wherein the actor is seen rooting for Ayurveda. Ramdev wrote in Hindi, “Become the brand ambassador of your own body. Live a simple and healthy life, and let us show the world that our Yoga and Ayurveda is more powerful than any foreign chemical injection - Akshay Kumar.”

    — स्वामी रामदेव (@yogrishiramdev) May 31, 2021
In the video, the actor revealed that he has been following Ayurveda for the last 25 years. He also added, “People are unaware that in the form of Ayurveda, God has blessed India with a priceless treasure. But we hardly value it. Instead, we think protein shakes, steroid injections, or a massage in a spa will lead us to a healthy lifestyle. What is funny is, those foreigners whose treatments we are adopting are themselves are a big fan of Indian Ayurveda. I don’t know when will we realize the worth of our unique resources.”
“I am not demeaning the value of allopathy, it is great in its own way. But why are we forgetting the value of our traditional medicinal treatments like Ayurveda, Unani, yoga, naturopathy, and homeopathic?” questioned the actor.
After Ramdev shared the video, people started to troll the actor, reminding everyone how he had to be hospitalized when he was infected with the deadly virus.
    Here’s how people reacted:

This is the year of superhero movies again and we have two of the most exciting characters coming back to the big theatres.

    © Marvel Studios
While Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man in the third installment of Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: No Way Home, on the other hand, the other Tom, Tom Hardy comes back as the fearsome yet likable anti-hero, Venom, in Sony Pictures' Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

    © Marvel Studios
    © Sony Pictures
Now, while we fans don't really mind having two different films about these super-power heroes, the fact remains that Spider-Man and Venom are both vital cogs of the Spider-Man universe, and seeing them not come up against each other is something we still cannot fathom.
    © Sony Pictures
Well, what if that were to change? It'd be quite amazing, right? In a new development that will certainly excite fans of the franchise, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group President, Sanford Panitch, has hinted at the possibility of the two heroes sharing the same universe in the movies as well.

    © Marvel Studios
Stating that the studio does have a long-term plan for Spider-Man in the future, Panitch said that things will start becoming clearer after the release of the Spider-Man 3 film. "There actually is a plan. I think now maybe it’s getting a little more clear for people where we’re headed and I think when No Way Home comes out, even more will be revealed," said Panitch, while speaking with Variety.

Fans have been left confused over what the future holds for Spider-Man with Sony and Marvel Studios both still undecided on what's to come. As per reports, it is the understanding of Sony that fans currently view the Venom franchise differently from the Spider-Man franchise, however, according to Panitch, fans won't be asking questions about Spider-Man when Venom 2 hits the theatres.
"We don’t really think of our 900 characters as the Spider-verse. We have a Marvel universe. The volume of characters we have — you know, wait until you see this next Venom. You don’t miss Spider-Man." said Panitch.
    © Comic Book
Now, with the upcoming Spider-Man 3 film rumored to bring in some old faces like Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man as well Andrew Garfield's, there is a big chance of Marvel Studios and Sony actually beginning to conjure up a reality that we thought only lived in our dreams. Well, We sure cannot wait!

Just like his name, actor Kamal R Khan is actually ‘kamaal'. Popularly known as KRK in B-town, the actor has mostly been in the news for his movie reviews and his tweets which are mostly his personal opinions about other people, which don’t go down too well with the public and the celebrities being targeted. Here are 5 controversies that involved KRK and got everyone becoming mute spectators to this ping-pong of war of words:

    1. Ajay DevgnWhen Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil were releasing around the same time, Ajay Devgn tweeted an explosive tweet about how KRK was badmouthing his movie and how he ‘claimed’ that he was paid money by KJO to diss this movie over ADHM.
Hear what self proclaimed no. 1 critic and trade analyst Kamaal R Khan has to say. https://t.co/wRc7moSlsZ
    — Ajay Devgn (@ajaydevgn) September 1, 2016
The war got ugly after Kajol boycotted her best friend and the industry took sides between Ajay and KJO.
    2. Karan JoharThe producer/director got swamped in the storm between Ajay and KRK’s Twitter war and had his own bitter experience amongst all this. He published various clarifications and even gave interviews explaining how this whole thing was disrespectful for him. Amidst all this, KRK turned the tables and blamed Kumar Mangat for being a bad friend and in fact even tweeted that it was him and Ajay who offered him money to diss karan’s movie instead! Talk about twists in the tale.
Kumar+Ajay offered me money to bash #AeDilHaiMushkil as he is offering in the tape also but I refused. I told them that I will do it free.
    — KRK (@kamaalrkhan) September 1, 2016
    3. Vikram BhattWhen KRK decided to review Bhatt’s 1920: London, he completely went overboard and ended up making some distasteful comments about the director. Vikram Bhatt was quick to file a defamation case and the actor eventually apparently apologised. Vikram Bhatt later cleared the air and the matter was buried.
@kamaalrkhan it takes a lot of courage to correct your ways and accept it on a public platform. I admire you for it.
    — Vikram Bhatt (@TheVikramBhatt) July 2, 2016
    4. Anurag KashyapThe tug of war with Bollywood’s ace director goes back to the year 2015 when KRK first tweeted and claimed that he was being offered money by KJO to review Bombay Velvet. Anurag was quick to respond that no such thing happened and brushed it off. Last year, KRK’s entertainment website goofed up Anurag’s name with someone else and actually pronounced him dead! Anurag was yet again quick to throw a comeback with an epic and witty reply. His fans called out KRK on Twitter.
Oh! So now Karan Johar sir is offering me 25lakh Rs for good review of #BombayVelvet pic.twitter.com/aZgImC6Pq5
    — KRK (@kamaalrkhan) April 25, 2015For the record I have nothing to do with Mr KRK stopping to review films, I think he is shit scared that he will have to eat his words ...1
    — Anurag Kashyap (@anuragkashyap72) April 25, 2015We are very sorry that one of our staff misunderstood the name of #AnuragKapoor with #AnuragKashyap and published a wrong news about Anurag Kashyap Ji. RIP #AnuragKapoor Ji! https://t.co/8qIzLYaw5w

    — Anurag Kashyap (@anuragkashyap72) September 14, 20205. Kapil SharmaBack in 2014, when comedian Kapil Sharma was still carving his niche and being noticed by everyone, KRK tweeted a joke about Nargis Fakhri being approached to star opposite Kapil in his debut movie with YRF. In response to his so-called ‘joke’, Kapil Sharma lashed out telling KRK to “@kamaalrkhan call me… If u have guts… I will show u… How to deal with a punjabi guy.”

KRK is currently swimming in murky waters with Salman Khan who has filed a defamation case against him for his review on Radhe and even got in a war of words with singer Mika, who is allegedly ready with a new diss track also.

Ever since the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League was called off mid way through the season because of a significant breach in the bio-bubble and a dangerous surge in the COVID-19 cases in the country, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had maintained that the will resume the tournament in the coming months.
Last week, the officials announced that they will be bringing back the league, while moving the location of all the remainder of the matches to the United Arab Emirates, where they had held the previous season as well.
Looks like Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman won't make it to the UAE leg of #IPL2021
    — Cricbuzz (@cricbuzz) May 31, 2021
However, the drawback of resuming the season after a couple of months means that the IPL was bound to clash with the international cricket matches scheduled by the various boards against each other.
So far, the England cricketers are the most likely to miss out of the league, the Australians have also hinted their possibility of absence while the Bangladesh Cricket Board has raised concerns about not being able to allow big names like Shakib al Hasan to reappear for franchise cricket due to his duties as an international athlete first.
Pat Cummins likely not to return to the IPL 2021 in UAE in September. (Source - Sydney Morning Herald)
    — Johns. (@CricCrazyJohns) May 30, 2021
Amid such major but very justifiable problems, the Indian cricket board has announced that they will not be willing to change the determined dates for the resumption of the IPL and if it means playing without the overseas players, so be it.
"We have discussed that (availability of foreign players) issue also. Our main focus is on completing this edition of the IPL. It should not be left halfway through. So whichever foreign players are available is fine. Whoever is not available, it is not going to stop us from hosting the tournament," Rajiv Shukla told Khaleej Times.
According to Cricbuzz, the vaccinated fans can be allowed in UAE stadiums at upto 50% capacity for the rescheduled IPL.
    — Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) May 31, 2021
"The Indian players are there, foreign players are there, but few foreign players will not be available. As I said, we have to complete our tournament… So the franchises will definitely look for other players. Whoever is available, we are going to have the tournament with them. That's our policy," Shukla added.
BCCI officials Sourav Ganguly, Jay Shah and Brijesh Patel have already arrived in the UAE to discuss the further plans of carrying out the remainder of the season with at least 50% attendance in the stands, but only those who have been vaccinated.

On Monday, the Delhi Police Crime Branch had announced that were going on a little road trip to Haridwar with murder-accused Sushil Kumar with the hopes of getting their hands of the wrestler’s mobile phone and the clothes he wrote while beating up the victim Sagar Rana with a stick.
However, by the end of the day, they revealed that they were unable to get their hands on the evidence and that the two-time Olympic medallist had tried to destroy proof of his involvement in the crime.
    View this post on Instagram
Sushil has tried to destroy the cell phone and dumped the clothes which were crucial in the case. The clothes had blood stains which were to be used as evidence against the wrestler. A crime of destruction of evidence under section 201 of IPC has been made out by this," said a source privy to the investigation, according to Republic World.
"We were hopeful that the police team will be able to recover the cell phone and the clothes but we didn't find anything. These were crucial to the case," said a senior police official.
And while the wrestler feels he might have found a way out for himself by destroying said evidence, it has only added to his misery because now he may also be charged with evidence tampering.
    View this post on Instagram
So far, Kumar has been charged under Sections 302 (murder), 365 (abduction), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). According to India Today, Delhi Police is also considering invoking Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the 38-year old for being involved in criminal activities with gangsters of Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan.
Reports have also suggested that Kumar has not been cooperating with the law enforcement and continues to stick to his argument that his intention was never to kill his fellow wrestler but to simply beat him up and scare him off.

After his advocate gave five reasons to raise suspicion toward Delhi Police for conspiring against Kumar, while demanding the revelation of the video in which he could be seen hitting Rana with a stick, the officials did exactly that and the clip of Rana lying on the ground while Sushil flexes over him as been making rounds on the internet ever since.
