Sushil Kumar Tried To Act Smart By Destroying His Phone & Here’s How It Backfired On Him

On Monday, the Delhi Police Crime Branch had announced that were going on a little road trip to Haridwar with murder-accused Sushil Kumar with the hopes of getting their hands of the wrestler’s mobile phone and the clothes he wrote while beating up the victim Sagar Rana with a stick.

However, by the end of the day, they revealed that they were unable to get their hands on the evidence and that the two-time Olympic medallist had tried to destroy proof of his involvement in the crime.

Sushil has tried to destroy the cell phone and dumped the clothes which were crucial in the case. The clothes had blood stains which were to be used as evidence against the wrestler. A crime of destruction of evidence under section 201 of IPC has been made out by this," said a source privy to the investigation, according to Republic World.

"We were hopeful that the police team will be able to recover the cell phone and the clothes but we didn't find anything. These were crucial to the case," said a senior police official.

And while the wrestler feels he might have found a way out for himself by destroying said evidence, it has only added to his misery because now he may also be charged with evidence tampering.

So far, Kumar has been charged under Sections 302 (murder), 365 (abduction), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). According to India Today, Delhi Police is also considering invoking Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the 38-year old for being involved in criminal activities with gangsters of Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan.

Reports have also suggested that Kumar has not been cooperating with the law enforcement and continues to stick to his argument that his intention was never to kill his fellow wrestler but to simply beat him up and scare him off.

After his advocate gave five reasons to raise suspicion toward Delhi Police for conspiring against Kumar, while demanding the revelation of the video in which he could be seen hitting Rana with a stick, the officials did exactly that and the clip of Rana lying on the ground while Sushil flexes over him as been making rounds on the internet ever since.
