With Vocal For Local having become the new anthem in the mid-COVID era, traditional prints and textiles are seeing a resurgence in mainstream fashion.
From small-scale fashion labels to noted designers, everyone is integrating the universally appealing ethnic prints in their collections.
If you are just fascinated enough to try these prints but confused about which one to really pick from the sea of some eclectic graphics, motifs and dyes interspersed on rich Indian weaves, here’s help.
Try these 9 fascinating ethnic prints to elevate your summer style.
1. Wear Your ‘Ikat’ As An Insignia Done using the tie-dye technique on the yarn, Ikat print is big on motifs and multicoloured patterns. Though elaborate, Ikat is marked by its blurriness.
Perfect to infuse a traditional vibe to your summer wardrobe, a vibrant shirt in Ikat should be a classic print addition to your collection. Team it with a pair of beige linen trousers to get the summer style right.

2. Paint Your Summer ‘Paisley’ Popular for its undertones of traditional subtlety, textile designs in paisley print mostly make use of buta, keri, and teardrop-shaped motifs with a curved upper end.
Paint your summer sky blue with this cotton shirt featuring paisley print, a piece that qualifies to be both, a daytime essential as well as a nighttime wearable.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1363__
3. Beautiful ‘Bandhej’ SomethingBandhej also called Bandhani is an ancient Rajasthani art of tying small dots on fabric with a continuous thread and dyeing it to create a figurative texture on the fabric.
With the sun shining bright, a bandhani shirt in a summery hue can be a valuable addition to your wardrobe. Comes with all-over hand block prints, pair this delicate beauty with chinos shorts and sandals with criss-cross straps to complete the look.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1364__
4. ‘Lehriya’ For A Breezy Summer Similar to that of Bandhani, Lehriya is a print produced by a type of tie and dye technique creating flowy long stripes.
Combining comfort and style, opt for something like this leheriya shirt to make summer feel like a cool breeze. Team it with a pair of white linen trousers and espadrilles to work a winning summer look.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1365__
5. ‘Bandana’ Print For A Boho VibeOnce made popular by the hippies in the 60s in India, Bandana or Scarf print is having a major comeback this season.
Crafted with a regular fit silhouette this red shirt with bandana print ticks all the right boxes to qualify for a hippie fashion staple. Combine it with cool white trousers and slip-on sneakers for an on-trend daytime look!
__ECOMPRODUCT__1366__
6. Flashy, Bold, ‘Baroque’Having its origin in Rome, Baroque is defined by a flashy style of art characterized by curving lines, chains, and gold. A level up of what bandana prints are.
Have them in awe this summer season with this beautifully crafted brown baroque print shirt in cotton fabric. The simple silhouette, an urbane charm, and elaborate print make the piece very Versace, we say.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1367__
7. Feel Like A Royalty In ‘Tribal’ Print Having its origin in Western Africa tribal prints look graciously graphic and uber stylish.
Originally made for the Royal Families, tribal print symbolises wealth, royalty and fertility. Invest in something like these yellow tribal print boxers to get your summer weekend-look sorted.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1368__
8. How About An ‘Aztec’ AttackAztec print, also inspired by the tribal culture indigenous to Africa over the years has gained popularity as a quirky print for any wardrobe staple.
Consider these suave oxfords lace-up shoes to add a dressy vibe to a rather laid-back summer.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1369__
9. Get That ‘Shibori’ Swag RightAn age-old Japanese dye-printing technique involving wring, squeeze, and press, Shibori fabrics mostly use the pleasing indigo-blue colour on cotton cloth
So, now when you think of ethnic wear, think of a Shibori kurta to brighten your traditional look. Throw on a pair of Kolhapuris to add thoughtful details to your Indian ethnic look.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1370__
10. Vibrant And Buoyant ‘Bagru’ PrintDelicate patterns and lines with bright colours are the defining factors of Bagru print. With many fashion labels giving a contemporary spin to this traditional printing technique, anything Bagru has become a sought after summer style.
Consider these cotton Bagru print trousers from the brand Anushe Pirani to incorporate a more minimal print approach to your summer wardrobe.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1371__
Final ThoughtsThere’s something about ethnic prints, the history, the significance and the resurgence, it all makes these prints super fascinating. Plus, the bright summer hues and breathable fabric make each of these numbers a must-have.
Hope our buying guide motivates you enough to add a pint of print to your wardrobe this summer.

A couple of days ahead of a major tournament of a series in the world of international cricket, the match broadcasters provide a list of commentators that they will be having on board for various languages in which the games will be covered.
Ahead of the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League, Star Sports have announced their lists of commentators for both Hindi and English, and while most of the names are familiar and “acceptable” for those who watch the matches regularly, one name, in particular, has stood out for fans… and not in a good way - Murali Kartik.
View this post on InstagramOver the years, the former Indian cricketer has become a part of the regular rotation of English-speaking Indian commentators to have covered some of the most important and iconic matches of the Men in Blue.
However, his voice behind the microphone has failed to impress a lot of fans, who often complain about it at the time of a live match and have once again done the same after the IPL list came out:
Mark feel bad for you that you will have to tolerate Murali Kartik and Laxman Shivramakrishnan for 2 months. Hold up buddy
— Naman and 28 others (@namanjain_101) April 8, 2021Murali Kartik is the Worstest commentator
— Lord Shardul (@Tanujgu33612027) April 8, 2021Karthik, Deep and Agarkar are so terrible. It's unbearable at times
— ➡️Nish⬅️ (@HKZ_506) April 8, 2021 Kartik has also made his share of mistakes while delivering information about the match in the commentary box. For instance, during the final ODI between India and England at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, he announced that Tom Curran had struck a half-century, whereas it was his brother Sam Curran who had achieved the feat.
When sam complete his 50 Murali Karthik said on air - 50 for Tom Curran 🤬 How unlucky r we that we have to bear this shitty panel of jokers #INDvsENG
— Diksha (@Deeksha45015326) March 28, 2021
Seconds later, a faint voice was heard in the background correcting Kartik’s mistake on live television.
It is not as if Kartik himself does not know how fans feel about his work with the mic. Back in January when India were in the middle of the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series in Australia, a Twitter user had called him an “irritating commentator” while tagging him in his post.
The leg-spinner ended up replying to the comment, thanking him for his “kind words”.
Here’s the complete list of English Commentators For IPL 2021:Harsha Bhogle, Simon Doull, Ian Bishop, Michael Slater, Danny Morrison, Deep Dasgupta, Rohan Gavaskar, Pommie Mbangwa, Darren Ganga, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Murali Kartik, Sunil Gavaskar, Kevin Pietersen, Anjum Chopra, Lisa Sthalekar, Mark Nicholas, Kumar Sangakkara and JP Duminy.
Here’s the complete list of Hindi Commentators For IPL 2021:Jatin Sapru, Aakash Chopra, Deep Dasgupta, Nikhil Chopra, Irfan Pathan, Gautam Gambhir, Parthiv Patel, RP Singh and Kiran More.

We all go through our fair share of hair struggles, be it hair loss, thinning hair or greying hair. However, we often shy away from making any real change to our hair care routine.
The first and the most important step in every hair care routine is hygiene, i.e. using the right shampoo and conditioner.
While most of us already know how to shampoo our hair the right way, we rarely use a conditioner.
Can a conditioner improve your hair quality?
The answer is yes. A conditioner is one of the most underrated hair care products that can transform your unruly mane. How? Well, that’s exactly what we are here to discuss!
Here’s all that you need to know about hair conditioners.
1. What Are The Benefits? The outer cells of our hair strands get worn and torn from daily exposure to sun, pollution and sweat. This causes them to branch out into split ends and frizziness. They become rough and look unruly. Using a conditioner will help you nourish the ends of your hair and in turn, make your hair look smoother.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1360__
Hair conditioners also help in moisturising the strands. Using a shampoo surely cleans the scalp but it also tends to dry out the ends. Also, the ends of your hair often miss out on the nourishment that your scalp provides to the hair closer to it. This is why getting regular haircuts and using a conditioner is important.
2. Different Types Of Conditioners There are mainly three types of conditioners: rinse-out conditioners, deep conditioners and leave-in conditioners.
Rinse-out conditioners are used after shampoo and are meant for the hair tips. They are the most common type of conditioners and are suitable for all hair types.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1361__
Deep conditioners are meant for damaged and dry hair and tend to the hair on a deeper level. They are infused with heavy oils and emulsifiers. This isn’t a product that’s recommended for people with normal to oily hair, unless greasy hair is what you’re going for.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1043__
As the name suggests, leave-in conditioners are meant to be left in your hair and not rinsed out. These conditioners stay on the surface of your hair and protect it from dust, pollution, sun and daily wear and tear. It’s also a great product for people who use a lot of hot styling tools on their hair. It’s also an effective detangler.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1042__
3. How To Use? A hair conditioner is meant only for the hair, not the scalp.
Give your hair a nice cleanse with a shampoo and start off on damp hair. Take one generous pump of the product onto your palms. Next, spread the product evenly in your hair. Be careful with the quantity, since a little bit can go a long way. Leave the product in your hair for a couple of minutes and then use warm water to wash it off.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1156__
Make sure that you don’t massage the product into your scalp or hair. Once you wash it off, you can flaunt your frizz-free, smooth and bouncy hair!
4. The Best FormulaLastly, you need the right ingredient for your hair type. All the conditioners are made to moisturise and smoothen the hair, however, some of them have sulfates, silicones and other harmful ingredients. These ingredients are bad because they tend to dry out and damage your hair in the long run.
__ECOMPRODUCT__1041__
Stick to natural hair conditioners that will not only smoothen but also nourish your hair.
The Bottomline There you go, now you know all about this underrated hair care product for men. A conditioner is an essential and now you know why.
Go on and start using conditioners and we promise you won’t regret it.

This week Facebook has been facing one of the biggest PR disasters in recent times since the Cambridge Analytica fiasco as it was discovered data of over 500 million users is accessible online to anyone. Data such as full names, email addresses, phone numbers and other sensitive information can be accessed online for free. Facebook says the data was “scraped” in a 2019 security hole, however there’s a good chance your personal data has not changed in the past few years. So much so, even Mark Zuckerberg’s personal phone number was leaked as a part of the data leak as well.
© bermix-studio-unsplash
It was also discovered that Mark Zuckerberg uses Signal over his own WhatsApp app to communicate with peers. The reason why this is alarming is that you probably have not updated your personal details since 2019 and it is precisely the reason why you should be concerned. Not only does this make you vulnerable, but it also makes you a target for phishing attacks, hacks and identity theft as well.
Thankfully, there is a way to check whether your data was a part of the leaked data, thanks to a database website. All you need to do is go to HaveIBeenPwned.com where you can check if your email address or mobile number was leaked. All you need to do is enter your Facebook linked email address or phone number in the text field and hit enter. If the website gives a result ‘Oh no —pwned!’ it probably means your personal data is available on the internet.
© MensXP
In this case, you should immediately change your Facebook password and also the password of any other services registered with that particular email address. You should also enable two-step authentication on any of the websites and services you use in order to better protect your data and account.
© altumcode-unsplash
Once you have secured your accounts, be vigilant about suspicious links and phishing emails or even SMS/WhatsApp. You should also disable open messaging so that unknown users cannot send you texts with phishing links. If you are really concerned about your privacy and are able to take extreme measures, change your phone number associated with the Facebook account as well. However, if that is your primary number, you will also need to update your personal phone number with other services such as banks, food delivery apps, courier services and other identity documents such as Aadhar.

Miss Papua New Guinea was recently stripped of her crown over a TikTok video in which she was twerking. The critics said that this reveals a deep-rooted culture of misogyny and sexism that exists in the island country.
Lucy Maino, 25 years old, shared a video of herself twerking on her private TikTok account. According to The Guardian, the clip was downloaded from her private account and was then shared widely on social media platforms. This led to sparking intense criticism and cyberbullying of Maino.
Many critics branded the dance as ‘inappropriate’ and said it wasn’t proper not fitting for a role model to make such videos.

After the backlash, Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG (MPIP PNG) committee took a stance to release Ms Maino, the 2019 winner of Miss Papua New Guinea from her duties.
MPIP PNG said in a statement, "After discussions with Miss Maino last week, MPIP PNG now formally advises that the reign of the 2019 crowned Miss Papua New Guinea had come to an end and Miss Maino has been released with immediate effect.”
"The MPIP PNG is focused on developing young women holistically, ensuring that they grow in terms of academia, social consciousness, personal development, and exposure to a bigger brighter world with awareness of issues facing PNG and the region," they added.

The decision to take away the crown from Ms Maino has been criticized and The United Nations in Papua New Guinea called it an instance of surrendering to cyberbullying in a Facebook post.
Women’s advocate, told the Guardian, "The committee could have handled it better by first outlining the clause that she breached as a reigning queen ... I feel that they threw her under the bus and didn't give her a chance to come out and talk. That is not the way to go.”

Every once in a while, the Indian cricket fraternity shares a heartwarming story about our Men in Blue and their supporters, the relationship between the two sides, and the exceptional moments of compassion, empathy, and absolute respect they get to relish.
This story is about Kausthub Swaminathan, a fan of the Delhi Capitals franchise but more importantly, a fan of Ravichandran Ashwin. Kausthub has been an Ashwin supporter ever since his days with Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings and is fascinated by the cricketer’s competitive mentality towards the game and how he continues to evolve as a player even after so many years of playing at the highest level.
© Kausthub Swaminathan
We got in touch with the superfan to ask him about his admiration for Ravichandran Ashwin and the Delhi Capitals:
“My name is Kausthub Swaminathan and I'm a 22-year-old, cricket writer, from Tamil Nadu. My love for cricket motivated me to write about it and I landed up an internship with a popular sports portal. I have written about 30 odd articles for the portal and I have also written previously on tennis,” he says in a brief introduction.
Talking about his health issues, he says: “I have a condition called Duchenne Muscular dystrophy, a progressive muscle degeneration disorder, which stops muscle growth. I was like any other child for most parts of my childhood, I started using a wheelchair in my teens.”
How long have you been a Ravichandran Ashwin fan? © Kausthub Swaminathan
“It all started with me switching on the TV to watch IPL for the first time and I saw a boy in CSK jersey messing up with batsmen. I instantly fell in love with his spin bowling. I got captivated by the action and his run-up. Just like Dhoni, Ashwin is one of the best cricketing minds and he is always adapting to new things by always learning. I feel he is the best student of cricket.”
What’s your most memorable experience with Ashwin?“In 2017, I met Ashwin through the cricket academy that he runs – Gen-Next Cricket Institute. We had a 15-20-minute heartfelt chat about cricket. I shared a copy of my cricket writeup with the academy’s COO and to my pleasant surprise, Ashwin had already read my copy. Ashwin praised my communication skills and encouraged me to write more. I think that gave me some clarity on choosing my career path.”
“One thing that’s engraved on my mind and warms my heart every time I think about it are Ashwin’s words, when he said, ‘I’ll treat you like I treat most people, won't speak differently because of your disability.’ Also, when he noticed that I was straining to look up at him from my wheelchair while talking, he bent down to my eye level to talk. The level of inclusion from a massive cricketing star, like R Ashwin was something that I had rarely experienced before.”
View this post on Instagram
Does Ashwin deserve a return to white-ball cricket?“I do think Ashwin deserves a comeback in white-ball cricket, I absolutely want that to happen. Ashwin is a Rockstar, irrespective of the format. He is like a star in the sky, he will shine, no matter where you place him. He has shown his mettle throughout his career, not just with the ball, but with the bat as well. I feel his return to white-ball cricket is inevitable and we will soon see him in limited-over matches, beyond the IPL.”
How do you feel about Ashwin getting branded for ‘mankading’ players?“As long as batsmen start staying behind the crease, I don't care what some people are labeling him as. I am glad that he has been the face of that change in cricket, but as a fan, it’s hard for me to see him getting character assassinated for correcting the way the sport is being played.”
View this post on Instagram“The 'run out at the non-striker's end in the runup' is the only option to stop batsmen taking undue advantage. As long as there isn't a viable alternative, it's the way to go. But even hypothetically assuming it is wrong, it gives no right to people to judge somebody as a person.”
How do you feel about Rishabh Pant leading the Delhi Capitals this season?“I really wanted to see Ashwin captain again, but Rishabh Pant was the Vice-captain last year, and he has stayed long enough in DC to be named as the captain. I am not at all surprised by this decision and I fully support the team. I think leadership will be essential in Rishabh Pant’s learning curve and he will emerge victorious in the end. Plus, he also has experience backing him in the form of Ricky Ponting, Mohammad Kaif, R Ashwin, and Ajinkya Rahane.”
What are your expectations from the squad this season? View this post on Instagram
“I expect Delhi to bring back the performances they displayed last year, and I have a strong feeling they'll go one step further and pick up the trophy for our injured captain, Shreyas Iyer. I have been a CSK fan before, so I might root for them also, but if Ash gets to win the IPL again, then I will put all my might behind them. I think DC has a great balance of explosive youngsters and calm experienced players, also a good mixture of overseas and local players, so I expect them to do very well.”
What according to you will be DC & Ashwin’s Mantra for IPL 2021?“I think DC’s Mantra for this season will be to replicate their last season’s performance and take a step further to grab the trophy. I also believe R Ashwin’s Mantra will be to support his team in all his capacity and shut his critics with amazing performances in white-ball cricket.”
