    At a time when the United States has seen history unfold with Kamala Harris becoming the first woman Vice President, and with work being underway to deal with issues like the gender pay gap and gender equality, there happen to be still some incidents that send us right back to the caveman era. 

    The most recent example of this was when European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen had traveled to Turkey on Wednesday (April 08) along with European Council President Charles Michel to meet Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.
    Despite there being three leaders present during the meeting, there were only two chairs kept in the room, and to von der Leyen's surprise, she wasn't offered a single one despite being the only woman in the talks.

     Von der Leyen, who is the first female lead of the EU executive, was taken aback and could only gesture in disbelief when Michel took the only remaining center-stage seat alongside Erdogan. 
    Footage of the meeting showed Von der Leyen uttering a surprised sigh after seeing the awkward game of musical chairs unfold right before her, before being relegated to the sofa adjacent to the chairs.

     Following the meeting, however, the EU executive arm's spokesman, Eric Mamer, released a statement saying, "The president of the Commission was clearly surprised." 
    "The president (von der Leyen) should have been seated in exactly the same manner as the president of the European Council and the Turkish president."
    There was no immediate response to the request for comment from the Turkish government. 
    However, as per reports, a member of the European Parliament, Sophie in't Veld, asked why Michel had not reacted to the distasteful incident. 
    Later, on the same day, Michel in a Facebook post admitted that the incident was "regrettable" and caused by "Turkish authorities’ strict interpretation of protocol rules".
    `The 45-year-old Belgian leader said he decided against a public confrontation.
    As per an EU official, who declined to be named, any public confrontation would have resulted in provoking a "protocol and political incident."
    "Turkey meant no disrespect. It extended a very courteous welcome to both presidents and strictly adhered to international protocol." the official said. 
    However, in the past when Turkish leaders had visited Brussels, three chairs had been provided for the meeting with the heads of the Commission and European Council.

    According to EU spokesman, von der Leyen still decided not to make "an issue out of it" and in the conversation brought up women's rights and the Istanbul Convention on violence against women, from which Turkey withdrew in March.

    There’s now a tiny washing machine available for people who get embarrassed taking out earbuds out of ears in public because it might be infested with wax. If, for some reason, you don’t like to clean the wax off of earbuds, there’s now a product for you. It’s practically a mini washing machine that can sit on your desk and clean your earbuds. It's called the Cardlax EarBuds Washer and is now up for crowd-funding on Kickstarter right now.

    The earbuds washing machine works very similarly to a traditional washing machine where you open the lid and see a tiny brush that spins. The brush is used to clean any debris and wax on your earbuds that can be found in the deeper crevices of the earbuds. Once the pre-wash is done, the earbuds then go into a cleaning drum that has a spinning core. The tiny machine also has lightweight foam inside which is soaked with an anti-bacterial cleaning solution. Once you close the lid and start the process, the core spins and rub the earbuds against the walls of the drum. In the process, the wax on the earbuds gets cleaned and should look brand new.

    With the season of the Indian Premier League upon us once again, Wasim Jaffer, crowned to be the social media king, has also made his return with yet another one of his iconic riddles.
    This time around, he has kept it simple and has tweeted the image of a pink flamingo standing on one leg, in a shallow end of a beach.

    This means that the man Jaffer is talking about, belongs to either Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians or Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore , which narrows down the answer to about 30 people.
    With the given information in mind, the fans of tournament and T20 franchise cricket got to work and started offering their answers to Jaffer on Twitter.

    But then a couple of fans figured out Jaffer’s reference to the ‘Flamingo Block’ that New Zealand pacer Trent Boult had played on Day 5 of the first Test match against Australia at Adelaide way back in 2015 that had the cricketing world raising their eyebrows at the cricketer’s willow-wielding abilities.

    One of the biggest reasons why Mumbai Indians seem to have a clear advantage over Bangalore is left-arm pace ace Boult and the statistical upper hand southpaw fast-bowlers have against RCB skipper Virat Kohli.
    In the history of the IPL, Kohli has been dismissed a total of 30 times at the hands of the left-arm pacer and continues to have the worst dot-ball percentage against them, according to Hindustan Times. 
    Having said that, the Chepauk stadium has not been kind to pacers in recent matches and the first two Tests of the India-England series have enough evidence to prove it. It would therefore make it very interesting to see how Boult uses his expertise to find a way to use the Chennai deck to his advantage in the season opener.
    As of now, all we need to do is wait until 6PM for Jaffer to give out the answer to the riddle followed by enjoying a couple of hours of non-stop action as the two titans of the game lock horns once again.

    Remember how beauty pageant winner Mrs. Sri Lanka ended up in a hospital with injuries to her head after her crown was snatched from her on-stage? 
    The incident unfolded soon after beauty queen Pushpika De Silva won the ‘Mrs. Sri Lanka’s title at the Colombo theatre. She was crowned by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksha’s wife Shiranthi Rajapaksa.
    Soon after, Mrs. World Caroline Jurie, who was present at the ceremony appeared on stage and announced the Ms. De Silva cannot be Mrs. Sri Lanka and is disqualified as she was divorced. 
    And then in front of the audience, Ms. Jurie walked towards Mrs. Sri Lanka and ripped her off her gold crown, also ruthlessly removing a set of pins in the process as the situation got really heated on stage.

    Police have now arrested Mrs World on charges of assault over the on-stage bust up in which she pulled the crown off the head of the new Mrs. Sri Lanka.
    Jurie was the previous year’s Mrs. Sri Lanka and had also won Mrs. World competition organised by a California-based company. De Silva needed hospital treatment after the incident and the spectators were stunned by the entire episode.
    Ajith Rohana, a senior police official said, “We have arrested Jurie and (her associate) Chula Manamendra in connection with a charge of assault and causing damage to Nelum Pokuna (theatre).”

    De Silva also told the reporters outside the police station in Colombo that she was fine with dropping the charges but only if Jurie made a public apology. However, she refused to do so.
    De Silva said, “I tried to end this out of court, but she has refused. I can forgive, but not forget.” Now a court hearing has been fixed for 19th April after Jurie and her associate who crashed the stage were released on bail on 8th April.

    While campaigning in Howrah for the ongoing Bengal state elections, Jaya Bachchan pushed a fan off of her rallying coach. The fan, who was perhaps a little too eager to see the senior actress, had just climbed up on to the coach, stood beside the senior actress and tried to take a selfie.

    This is not the first time where the senior actress has shown her displeasure towards unruly fans. There have been a number of documented cases in the past, where the actress did not shy away from giving an earful to fans and the paparazzi who were behaving in a rather unruly manner.

    Although we do feel sorry for the man, we have to say, that it was rather hilarious, how he was shunted away. Also, do note, that he wasn’t wearing a mask. Not that it really matters in political rallies, I mean who cares, right?

    Harshad Mehta was often referred to as the 'Big Bull' of Dalal Street or the 'Amitabh Bachchan' of the Indian stock market. It was his involvement in the scam of 1992 that exposed the loopholes in the country's banking system. We saw the story in detail when Pratik Gandhi collaborated with Hansal Mehta for the Scam 1992 web series. Just months later, we were given one more opportunity to see Harshad’s life but this time in the form of Abhishek Bachchan starring as The Big Bull.
    The film went on air yesterday and I certainly had high expectations because I wanted to see what new the film could bring to the table. One cannot help but compare it with last year’s Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. It’s not that Abhishek didn’t do his part well but there were shortcomings in quite a few departments. 
    Abhishek Bachchan plays the role of Hemant Shah, a lower-middle-class Gujarati who dreams about making it big and stumbles upon stock market investing as a way to achieve everything he has been desiring for. We have Sohum Shah as Hemant’s younger brother Viren. Ileana D’Cruz plays the role of the journalist who exposes the big scam while Nikita Dutta plays the role of Hemant’s wife in the movie. We also get to see Ram Kapoor in the role of Hemant’s lawyer.

    If you have seen the movie, you might agree with the fact it did fall short of expectations. And here are five reasons why we feel it didn’t hit the bull’s eye.
    1. Characters Lacked Depth and ConvictionAbhishek does show patches of great performance as Hemant and reminded us of his character Dhirubhai Ambani in Mani Ratnam’s Guru but he still couldn’t manage to convince us as he couldn’t sink his teeth into the character. The character lacked finesse that might have made it seem more believable. With Sohum Shah, we had high expectations because of his strong performance in Tumbbad but he fails terribly here as he didn’t get enough material in terms of the screenplay to make his character feel real. Ileana D’Cruz also looked unfit for the character of a journalist who exposed such a big scam as she was sidelined by the writer. She has a strong part to play as she is the narrator of the movie. Nikita as Hemant’s wife was only reduced to just a pretty face.

    2. Nothing New To Offer And Wavered ScreenplayAs we had already seen the story in detail, we were expecting something new and fresh. The film was surely at a disadvantage because the show had raised the bar way too high. The director could have taken a different take on the entire fiasco, maybe he could have focused on the emotional journey of Hemant. There were some scenes that weren’t just required and didn’t fit in. One more thing in the screenplay and plot that we found off was Bachchan’s evil laughs in between because that was genuinely annoying.

    3. Dialogues Lacked PunchThe dialogues seem half-baked and badly written. Why do we say that? For instance, there’s a scene wherein Ileana’s character and Hemant are in conversation after he gets to know that there’s someone from his team who’s exposing all his secrets to her. He asks her, ‘Vibhishan Kon Hai’. Yes, you heard it right. There’s one more dialogue in the movie that makes you feel like the writing needed to be a tad bit sharper - ‘jo baadal garajte hai, woh baraste nahi.’ Dialogues are the soul and backbone of the movie and they didn’t do justice here. The characters fell victim to overdramatized writing.
    4. Too RushedYou can argue with us on the fact that it’s a movie and it wasn’t easy for the director to put in everything in just 2.5 hours. We somewhere agree too but the way it has been shown, it looks rushed and the damage could have been fixed if the age-old method of flashback story-telling was avoided as the movie missed detailing. Perhaps, had the movie followed the linear progression, it wouldn’t have looked this rushed. Also, the director could have focused a little more on his initial struggles.
    5. Great Supporting Cast Left With No Scope To ActThe supporting cast consists of Saurabh Shukla, Samir Soni, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ram Kapoor and Supriya Pathak but unfortunately, they didn’t have enough screen time to make their mark and it’s sad that such talent was wasted.
    Final Verdict:It could have been much better if the characters didn’t fall prey to the overdramatized writing style.

    Asim Riaz started gaining style points with his fashion game, ever since his stint in Bigg Boss 13. Post the show, he was often seen wearing some functional and athleisure outfits and compiled them with some zany sneakers. Asim seems to be fascinated with the pairs he wears to the gym. Think his Uptempo sneakers and Nike MX-720-818. These are some classic examples how of much he likes to amp up his outfits with outlandish pair of shoes.

    This time too, Asim made a good case for another pair of sneakers. A bit more chunky with a dose of insouciance, these sneakers have all our attention, despite perhaps not being the most practical choice for the gym. Check out what this pair looks like.

    Asim can be seen wearing Jordan Aerospace 720 'Orca' Basketball Shoes. These are classic yin and yang of white and black sneakers. The upper is made from white ripstop, leather and black mesh. These are connected using seams, both fused and stitched. Furthermore, there are pops of technical text on the throats, select seams and insoles as well. There's a smoky black Air Max unit and black rubber outsole, which rounds off the look.

    These sneakers are the quirkiest addition to the look. The cost as well isn't as much as these are worth Rs 14,937.

    Coming to the other details of his look, Asim can be seen wearing a rust orange T-shirt, paired with camouflage shorts. These are Nike's Jordan Jumpman Cotton Blend Shorts. To make it comfier for gym hours, he clubbed the pair over his compression leggings. Overall, even his outfit was pretty impressive and the Nike headband and printed mask did the trick of adding more casual coolness.

    Now, normally, at such a point, the actor would break character, the director would have to call cut, everyone will take a break while the actor recuperates, and then reshoot the scene. This is what happens. Sometimes, actors also hasten their recovery, and get back to work, without healing properly.

    Sometimes though, certain actors get so engrossed with their characters that injuries such as wide and gaping cuts, broken bones, mean nothing to the actor - such things become insignificant.

    We count such instances when actors acted through the pain of a severe injury and completed their shot, all, with severe cuts, broken bones, and unimaginable pain.

    Leonardo DiCaprio In Django Unchained
    We start with the most widely known incident. During the dining sequence of Django Unchained, Leonardo accidentally smashed his hand on a glass, which left a heavily bleeding cut on his hand. Instead of taking a break and getting it bandaged, he continued on with the scene. To understand the brilliance of the man, just consider what he did next - using his own blood as an impromptu prop, he wiped his bleeding hand on the face of his co-star, which obviously left her rattled. Clearly, this is one of the best sequences that Tarantino has even had in his film, and it all stemmed from Leo’s timely improvisation.
    Tom Cruise In Mission: Impossible - Fallout
    Imagine shattering your ankle while you make a jump from one building to another, and then climbing up a ledge and running away, off the camera, to complete your shot. Well, this is what Tom Cruise had to deal with while filming Mission: Impossible - Fallout. The actor went into some great detail about the accident in an interview with British talk show host, Graham Norton.
    Martin Sheen In Apocalypse Now
    One of the finest films, ever made, Apocalypse Now is a must-watch for anyone and everyone who think they’re a cinephile. Director Francis Ford Coppola, the same guy who directed The Godfather simply instructed Sheen to go bonkers and act a little unstable. What did he do? Sheen started play-acting in front of  a mirror, and punched his own reflection, rolled over his bed, sank down, and started staring into his own bleeding hand, and rubbing it all over his face. Talk about going full method for a role.
    Channing Tatum Foxcatcher
    Another instance when an actor went a little too deep into method acting and severely injured himself was Channing Tatum in Foxcatcher. After losing a wrestling match, Tatum’s character goes into his room and is really angry with himself. He first starts slapping, and then punching himself, while looking into a mirror, and then, out of nowhere, starts headbutting the mirror repeatedly, breaking the mirror, and a portion of the drywall that was supporting the mirror. Of course, he cut himself while doing so, but he continued with his shot, smashing a lamp, with his bare hands.
    Vicky Kaushal In Manmarziyaan
    Finally, we have Vicky Kaushal making it to this list. This is when his character confronts the matchmaker who set Tapsee & Abhishek up, in an inebriated state. During the scuffle that follows, Vicky slammed a saucepan on the floor so hard, that it bounced back, and hit him on his cheek, right below his eye. Vicky’s reaction to this was as if nothing had happened. He finished the take, without as much as even flinching.

    Abhishek Bachchan’s film The Big Bull has finally released on Disney+Hotstar on April 8 and has been getting mixed reviews since then. The film is based on the stock market scam by Harshad Mehta which happened over ten years from 1980 to 1990.  
    Abhishek Bachchan plays the lead role in the film and the movie is produced by Ajay Devgn.
    Abhishek Bachchan is being lauded for his portrayal of Harshad Mehta in the film. However, the narrative of the film has failed to impress the audience.

    The film also stars Nikita Dutta, Ileana D’Cruz, Ram Kapoor, Sohum Shah, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Saurabh Shukla among others.
    The film was supposed to release in theatres but was shifted to an OTT release due to the ongoing pandemic. About releasing the film on an OTT platform Abhishek said, “From digital to television to screen, there is going to have to be a variety on how you tell your stories. And there lays the biggest hurdle for Kookie (director Kookie Gulati) as he made this movie for the 70 mm screen and now because of the situation we were in and due to the pandemic, he had to now adapt his storytelling style to make it conducive to a digital streaming platform.”

Today’s audience’s taste has also changed and evolved, from my understanding, they want to see the protagonist be more human, they want to see his flaws, they want to see grey characters.”
