A few months after falling out of the list of top 10 billionaires in the world, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani has made an impressive comeback to not only reclaim the much-coveted spot but also top Forbes list of 10 richest Indian billionaires.

With a net worth of a staggering  $84.5 billion, the 63-year-old business tycoon also dethroned China's Jack Ma, who had been the richest person on the continent a year ago.

As per the new list of the prestigious Forbes Magazine, labeled "Forbes’ 35th annual list of the world’s billionaires", Ambani was ranked 10th.

Sitting atop the perch was Amazon CEO and Founder Jeff Bezos, who topped the list for the fourth year in a row.

He was followed by SpaceX founder Elon Musk, who was the biggest gainer in dollar terms, whose fortune according to Forbes had risen to  $151 billion.

Back in November 2020, Ambani had slipped three positions in the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires list after his company experienced heavy losses in the stock market.
However, things are now on the way up for Ambani and for Reliance as he edges out in the list, ahead of some familiar faces.
“(Mr. Ambani) has become the richest person in Asia, ranked Number 10 and worth an estimated $84.5 billion. He nudges out Jack Ma of China, Asia’s richest person a year ago, whose rank dropped to 26 (from 17 last year) despite a nearly $10 billion jump in his fortune to $48.4 billion,” Forbes said.

With a net worth of $50.5 billion,  Adani Group Chairman, Gautam Adani, was ranked second in the Top 10 Indian Billionaires list and 24th on the global list of billionaires by Forbes.

The third rank was claimed by HCL Founder Shiv Nadar, who boasts a net worth of around $23.5 billion.
According to Forbes, India has the third-highest number of billionaires in the world, with the US ranking first and China coming in second place. In terms of numbers, the US has around 724 billionaires, with China having 698, and India having 140.
This is followed by Germany and Russia, with 136 and 117 respectively. “The three richest Indians alone have added just over $100 billion between them,” Forbes said.
