Lays brand has been ill famous for filling their packets with more air than chips. Call it capitalism or packaging strategy, you only find a handful of potato chips in a huge bag of Lays. We have made peace with it because the masaledar content of the pack is totally worth it. Plus, it has better air quality than most of India’s big cities, so can’t really say no to that.

However, have you ever bought a packet of Lays and got more than you expected? Well, this lucky guy did and took no time to share it on social media. He bought a Rs. 5 pack of Lays Classic Salted flavour (yellow Lays as the desis call it) that claimed it has 40% more chips. And, it came with six whole chips. Must have been his lucky day.

The Twitter user posted a picture of the chips and wrote in the caption, “₹ 5 wale lays mei 6 chips hai” There are 6 chips in Rs. 5 pack of Lays). People on Twitter are happy for him. However, some started doing the math since the pack says 40% more and wondered how many would have come if it didn’t offer the extra percentage. And, the results are surprising.

It actually needed to have 4.28 chips earlier for 40% more to be equal to 6

Even after duping us for years and giving much less than we pay for, Lays remains one of the most popular and loved chips brands and favourite snack for desis. Or is it because it gives free fresh air which is more expensive and rare to find in India these days?
