Atari promised a brand new product at this year's E3 conference which came as a shock to the entire industry. Atari has now revealed the console to the world and it looks like this:

The new Ataribox is going to house all the classic games we all grew up to and it will also have new games that have been developed specifically for the console. The current content may include a brand new game or a remastered game from Atari's classic library. The Ataribox will work similar to Nintendo's NES and SNES classic which lets users play classic games such as 'Space Invaders' on a modern console that looks just like the original hardware.

Atari has not mentioned any pricing details or a release date, game titles, or even full specs right now. “We know you are hungry for more details; on specs, games, pricing, timing,” reads an Atari statement. “We're not teasing you intentionally; we want to get this right, so we've opted to share things step by step as we bring this to life, and to listen closely to the Atari community feedback as we do so.”

Atari does have a huge library of games that tap into 1980's nostalgia and it is possible that Atari will have a console that will house classic games and some new content that may provide a breath of fresh air to the console industry.
