‘Respect’, CRPF Soldiers Step In As Brothers For Pulwama Martyr’s Sister At Her Wedding

No one can forget the horrific Pulwama attack which took the lives of 40 CRPF personnels in 2019.

India lost their bravest soldiers but the families of the martyrs lost their sons, husband and brothers.

One such woman whose brother, a CRPF jawan, was martyred in the terrorist attack, recently got married. However, instead of one brother, she got an army of elder brothers at her wedding to walk her down the aisle.

The colleagues of martyred CRPF soldier Shailendra Pratap Singh showed incredible solidarity as they attended their friend and colleague’s sister’s wedding in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh and performed the brotherly duties.

Clad in uniform, they walked her to the mandap, a duty normally entrusted to the bride's elder brother. They also gave the newly wed couple blessings and gifts.

The heartwarming photos were shared by CRPF India’s official Twitter account, with a caption that read, “Brothers for life: As elder brothers, CRPF personnel attended the wedding ceremony of Ct Shailendra Pratap Singh's sister. Ct Sahilendra Pratap Singh of 110 Bn #CRPF made supreme sacrifice on 05/10/20 while valiantly retaliating terrorist attack in Pulwama.”

This gesture by these soldiers proves that a soldier may be gone but he is not forgotten. And, neither is his family that he leaves behind. This perfectly sums up the fact that they are brothers for life and beyond.

People on social media cannot help but hail the brotherhood.

A user wrote, “Great gesture; the Guy must be looking down from heaven, with lots of gratitude. Great way to show solidarity and respect. Big salute !!” Another wrote, “There can't be a beautiful and better picture than this. Lot's of respect.”

The father of Shailendra Pratap Singh said, "My son is no longer in this world but now we have so many sons in the form of CRPF soldiers who always stand by us in times of happiness and sorrow”.

It makes us immensely proud of the CRPF and the solidarity among the soldiers.
