A few days back, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa R Dhanush released a joint statement announcing separation after “18 years of togetherness”. The announcement of their split came as a shock for their fans. 

Soon after the statement, several reports started doing the rounds about the reason behind their split. Meanwhile, Dhanush’s father Kasthuri Raja shrugged it off as “a family quarrel” and added that the split is temporary.

Now, a new report has claimed that the news of their separation has “very badly” affected Aishwaryaa’s father Superstar Rajinikanth. 

According to Wion, Rajinikanth has not yet come to terms with the reality and is still hopeful of reconciliation between his daughter Aishwaryaa and son-in-law Dhanush. He has also urged Aishwaryaa to mend their differences and save the marriage. 

A source told the website, “Rajini Sir has taken his daughter’s break up very badly. He keeps insisting that the separation is temporary. He has been urging his daughter to mend her marriage.” 

The source also added that the duo often had fights and they have had bitter differences between them in the past but somehow Rajinikanth always managed to talk them into staying together. However, this time, things seemingly went out of hand.

Earlier, a throwback video of Rajinikanth from the music launch of his 2018 film Kaala had gone viral. In the video, he could be seen praising Dhanush calling him a “good son-in-law”. 

He said, “Dhanush is a wonderful boy. He respects his parents, considers them God. He takes care of his wife. He is a good father, a good son-in-law, a good man, a good talent.” 

On the work front, Rajinikanth was last seen in Annaatthe. The film received mixed response and underperformed. 

Dhanush, on the other hand, was last seen in his third Hindi film Atrangi Re helmed by Aanand L Rai, who earlier introduced Dhanush to the Bollywood audience with Raanjhanaa. 

He will next be seen in Maaran directed by Karthick Naren. The film is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar in February 2022.
