'KGF 2' To 'Bachchan Pandey': 5 Films That'll Make Your Festivals Memorable In 2022


After Ranveer Singh-starrer 83, Rajkummar Rao & Bhumi Pednekar's Badhaai Do is going to be the first major film to be released in theatres. It is set to hit the silver screen on February 11, during Valentine's Day week. As the third wave of COVID-19 has slowed down resulting in the reopening of theatres, several other big films too are all set to release during festive weekends.

From Akshay Kumar-starrer Bachchan Pandey to Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha, let's take a look at the list of much-hyped films that are booked to hit the theatres during festive weekends:

Featuring Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, and Jacqueline Fernandes in the lead roles, Bachchan Pandey is among the most-awaited movies of 2022. Last month, the makers had unveiled the film's new posters along with the new release date. Bachchan Pandey will be released in theatres on March 18, during the Holi weekend. An official remake of Jigarthanda, the 2014 Tamil film, Bachchan Pandey is helmed by Farhad Samji while Sajid Nadiadwala is producing it.

KGF 2, a pan-India project starring Yash in the lead role, is slated to release on April 14, during the Baisakhi weekend. The film is expected to break several box office records as the buzz around it is huge. Directed by Prashanth Neel, KGF: Chapter 2 is the sequel to KGF: Chapter 1 which was released in 2018 and turned out to be a big hit. Also featuring Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, and Prakash Raj in important roles, the much-hyped movie will be released in Kannada with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.

Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor-starrer Laal Singh Chaddha will be clashing with KGF 2 at the box office during the Baisakhi weekend. The official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' Hollywood classic Forrest Gump, the film is directed by Advait Chandan. It also marks the Bollywood debut of South star Naga Chaitanya. The movie is produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Viacom18 Studios, and Paramount Pictures.

This year, on the occasion of Eid (April 29), Tiger Shroff's Heropanti 2 will be released in the theatres. A sequel to 2014 hit Heropanti which marked the Bollywood debuts of Tiger and Kriti Sanon, Heropanti 2 stars Tara Sutaria as the leading lady. Ahmed Khan has directed the film while Sajid Nadiadwala is producing it under his banner, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

A sequel to Mohit Suri's 2014 hit Ek Villain, Ek Villain Returns is all set to release during the Bakrid weekend, on July 8. While the first part starred Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh, the sequel features John Abraham, Disha Patani, Arjun Kapoor, and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles. Directed by Suri, the movie is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and T-Series.
