Upon its release, The Kashmir Files garnered an unprecedented response from the audience. The film not only exceeded expectations and outperformed at the box office but also gained an IMDb rating of perfect 10. 

Over its first weekend, it maintained the perfect 10 score, however, earlier today, the rating took a dip and it was alleged that IMDb has reduced it due to “unusual voting activity”. 

A user pointed it out as he tweeted, “The @IMDb page of #TheKashmirFiles says: "Our rating mechanism has detected unusual voting activity on this title. To preserve the reliability of our rating system, an alternate weighting calculation has been applied". They have themselves dipped the ratings @vivekagnihotri”.

Reacting to the tweet, Vivek Agnihotri called the activity unusual and accused IMDb of being unethical. He wrote, “THIS IS UNUSUAL AND UNETHICAL.”

A few users also came out in support of Vivek Agnihotri and the film. While some of them blamed Jeff Bezos founder of Amazon, the parent company of IMDb, there were others who called it a conspiracy against the film by “Bollywood Mafia”. 

One user tweeted, “IMDB is owned by Bezos. So, did you expect it will be neutral and like many ‘neutral’ platforms (YouTube / Facebook / Twitter ++) be silent on the ratings that expose their funding agents. Hey #Georgi* good job, but do evaluate what you have been relegated to - a sidekick.” 

Another wrote, “It's not because of 1 star rating. @IMDb  did it intentionally to lower it's rating From 9.9 to 8.3 by giving the lame excuse of unusual activities on their portal. While arithmetic mean is still 9.6 on their portal when you open the ratings.” 

One tweet read, “Its clear sabotage & conspiracy.. Some people and their credibility is under threat because of #TheKashmirFiles  to all are getting exposed one after the other that who are involved in supressing the Truth..Shame on @IMDb”.

One comment read, “Wow,every1 is following an agenda against Hindus They are scared that's why doing such tactics & will keep doing it Thank-you @vivekagnihotri for bringing the raw truth in front of people The revolution has started now it is not gonna stop To hell with Bollywood mafia and @IMDb”. 

One user also accused Vivek Agnihotri of adding fake 10/10 rating on IMDb. He wrote, “Matlab pahle aap apne 100,000 bots se farji rating karwa ke 10 star le aao...fir jab chori pakdi jaaye toh isko UNUSUAL aur UNETHICAL batake cool ban jao...sahi hai”.

The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar & Pallavi Joshi and is based on the exodus of Kashmiri pandits in 1990.
