As Sri Lanka’s economic condition worsens by the day, the entire world is appalled and scared at how badly a beautiful country is collapsing and crushing under its own debt trap. The country has its residents protesting on the streets, forcing the government to resign and dealing with life altering issues like no fuel, food and electricity. Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, who hails from Sri Lanka, took to social media to post about the situation and urged people to pray for her country.

What was supposed to be a heartfelt appeal from her end, soon turned upside down and ended up becoming a trolling station for the actress. While a lot of people acknowledged her pain and angst and wrote about praying for Sri Lanka, there were a lot of unkind comments on asking her to donate money, take Indian citizenship and even calling her a hypocrite.

Some even called it a ‘metaphoric heartbreak’ claiming that she probably doesn’t feel the actual pain of people enduring it back home. While it's true that she works and lives in India, by that logic, so do many more people who leave their country for work. That doesn’t mean that they are no longer eligible to call a place ‘home’ or feel the pain. Being a celebrity comes with a price and sadly sometimes the B-town celebs end up paying a lot for it.
