RAWALPINDI/LAHORE: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday visited the family of martyred Major Ali Salman in Lahore, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).Β

Major Salman was martyred along with three other personnel during an operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa two days ago.

General Bajwa, who was also accompanied by his wife, acknowledged the supreme sacrifice of the martyred officer, added ISPR.

"Maj Ali has made us all proud," ISPR quoted the army chief.

"We shall restore peace, rule of law whatever sacrifices it may cost. No threat can deter [our] resolve of a united & resilient nation," General Bajwa said, while extending his condolences to the family of Major Ali Salman.

Major Salman and three soldiers of the Pakistan Army laid down their lives during a military operation in Timergara area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Lower Dir district.

Major Salman, who was from a 'secret agency', was leading a team in an anti-terrorist operation in the vicinity, when they were martyred in a suicide bombing late Tuesday, the military had said.

As the army team entered the hideout of suspected terrorists in Sherotkai, a suicide bomber blew himself up, killing the army officials, while another was killed in retaliatory fire.

The martyred personnel were identified as Maj Ali Salman, Havaldar Ghulam Nazir, Havaldar Akhtar and Sepoy Abdul Karim.

It was stated that one suspected terrorist was also arrested from the site.
