KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan Chief Farooq Sattar said on Sunday that the authority to maintain law and order should be given to Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar, claiming that then the infamous knife attacker would not stand a chance.
MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar was addressing a gathering in Mahmoodabad area.
During his address, Sattar demanded that the hold of the community police should be given to the mayor Karachi.
?If the system of eliminating crimes is under the mayor then within 24 hours will unveil every knife attacker,? said Sattar.
The MQM-P chief said that the conspiracy against his party is a conspiracy against Pakistan.
Sattar said that if weapons can be recovered from water tanks then the ?knives shouldn?t be out of grasp as well?.
Since September 25, at least 16 attacks by a knife attacker, riding a motorcycle, have occurred in the city's eastern district.
The suspect, who has posed quite a challenge to the authorities, remains at large, evading arrest and baffling authorities after a fresh spate of knife attacks on women, concentrated mainly in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal areas.
