According to Investigators An Exploding Smartphone Might Have Been The Reason For EgyptAirs Crash Wh

A passenger aircraft that crashed last summer might have been brought down due to an exploding iPhone, which belonged to the Pilot. According to the investigation, the phone’s battery might have overheated and sparked a fire and caused the flight to crash into the Mediterranean.

According to CCTV footage, co-pilot Mohamed Mamdouh Ahmed Assem left his iPhone 6S and iPad mini next to 4 perfume bottles, which had been on top of an instrument panel of the Airbus A320.

French investigators are currently trying to find the cause of the crash and according to them the fire broke out on flight 804 and items that were placed on the glare-shield caused it.

The plane that crashed last year killed all of its 66 passengers that were flying from Paris to Cairo. The black box of the plane indicates that a fire broke out in mid-air which was followed by fire alerts and smoke detectors going off on the flight deck.

The CCTC footage indicated that devices were placed on the glare-shield prior to taking off. However, there is still no proof whether the devices remained there for the entire duration of the flight. Egypt claims that there were explosive placed on board the aeroplane; however, French investigators call this allegation implausible.

Stability of lithium batteries on smartphones has been a controversial topic ever since Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 started to overheat and catch fire across the globe. In fact, the phone was even banned by airlines in order to avoid similar situations as Flight 804.

An Apple representative said: 'We have not seen the report but we understand there is no evidence to link this event to Apple products.

'If investigators have questions for us, we would, of course, assist in any way we can.

'We rigorously test our products to ensure they meet or exceed international safety standards.'
