Vishal is a host, director, former reality show contestant, YouTuber and an actor. And if you get past his often-dry-often-dark sense of humour and his tendency to reference old-school Bollywood dialogues in regular conversations, only then will you notice his big-boy beard. He has been growing it for years only trimming it at brief intervals to maintain his sanity. In the interview below, Mr. VC gives us a little peek into his bearded life, grooming hacks (he uses leftover shampoo to wash his beard) and why women totally dig the mug-rug!

Do you think beards are overrated?

They're actually underrated. 

How has growing a beard changed your life?

It has just helped me be at ease. Think about it — it's one step closer to being in harmony with nature. 

Do women dig the beard or clean-shaven men?

Women are most definitely into beards but they hate to admit it though. A clean-shaven man is great to go out on a date with, but a bearded man is great to go all out with (if you know what I mean). 

Ever thought of a name for your beard?

Phoolan — The bandit queen.

Razor or trimmer? And how often...

I use scissors — once in a blue ball...err...moon 

Ever tried beard oils, shampoos, conditioners etc?

NOTHING. Just wash it every day. Apply some leftover shampoo off your head. Though I'm now thinking of investing in a beard shampoo/ conditioner. (Even though I think it's a fad!) 

Your best and worst beard phase?

I've been lucky to not have had any bad beard phases. But I hear a lot of people have patchy beard issues. Solution? Just let it grow for 6-8 weeks. It's going to be just fine! Also, it's a f*cking beard, don't make it the center of your universe. Give it some space. 

According to you, the most iconic celebrity beard in the world?

Johnny motherf**king Depp. His braided goatee was all my want during college. Could never hack it. Worst would be Brad Pitt — poor guy could never hack a beard.
