According to a note to investors, Apple is currently focusing hard on AR and it is very likely that it will be incorporated into future phones that will release in coming years. Business Insider initially reported the report by Milanovic and it claims that the ability to interact and connect with people is the future of mobile phones. Apple believes that even though most players are investing in virtual reality, it disconnects and isolates users from the world and might not be the future Apple would want to invest in.

It is being speculated that Apple will be announcing the new iPhones this year where two of them will be the generic iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus and will only have minor upgrades much like the companyβs current strategy. However, the iPhone 8, being the third phone to be announced this year is expected to have a radical new design and features, as it will be Appleβs marquee device for the iPhoneβs 10th-anniversary celebrations. The phone is expected to have an all-glass design with a curved OLED display and a high-end processor. It is also said to have a fingerprint sensor embedded beneath the screen, which would completely remove the presence of the traditional home button.

However, there were no details revealed in the note as to how AR will be incorporated into the new iPhone. Milanovic hinted that it could be used for 3D mapping and Apple can also work with third-party developers to make the ecosystem come alive. There is no official word from Apple whether this claim is true or whether the company will be offering it in its next device.
