Steve Waugh Wins The Internets Heart After Fulfilling His Friends Last Wish

Former Australian cricketer, Steve Waugh, had already won the hearts of Indian fans after placing his faith in Virat Kohli and the Indian team to bounce back in the four-match Test series following their surprise loss in the first match.

But, his recent gesture has helped the former Aussie skipper to earn more respect across the globe. Fulfilling the last wish of his friend Stephen, the 51-year-old travelled all the way to Manikarnika Ghat to immerse the ashes of his mate into the Ganga river.

Waugh's friend, who wanted his ashes to be immersed in the holy Ganga, had expired four months ago. The Australian legend, accompanied by another friend, reached Varanasi on Tuesday afternoon after which he hired a guide and reached the Dshashwmed Ghat directly.

From there he took a boat and reached the Manikarnika Ghat where he immersed the ashes and then captured various pictures of the place on his camera.

While talking to some journalists at the scene, Waugh said: "Stephen was my very loving friend. His last wish was that after his death, his mortal remains were to be immersed here.”

Waugh has been a well-respected figure in the Australian cricket circuit and his latest gesture has only increased our respect for him.
