Mumbai’s Dabbawalas are world famous for all the right reasons. Their timely delivery and immaculate service is always on point and never a disappointment. So much so that their business model even piqued the interest of Harvard Business School, compelling professors to study their distinctive model and how they function. If this wasn’t enough, they have also been honored by the British royal family.

They have been delivering delicious and hygienic food in Mumbai to offices and homes since the longest of time and they finally got their very own installation, in the form of a statue of a dabbawala, standing tall and proud, readying themselves to deliver the tiffin.

General secretary of the Mumbai Dabbawala Association, Subhash Talekar said, "We have been serving Mumbai for 126 years and have put in a lot of hard work and labour to ensure that tiffins reach our customers on time. We are grateful for the honour."

The 13-foot long statue, designed of stainless steel discs by Mumbai-based sculptor Valay Shende, was unveiled at Haji Ali, Mumbai, on Friday. The installation is part of a private art foundation in partnership with Mumbai's municipal corporation.
