Fat Army officials beware as a new set of rules are being implemented that will force these said officials to cut down on their weight. If found to be incompliant with these rules, they will be banned from promotions, foreign postings and distinguishing awards beginning in June. 

Orders and instructions have been dispersed to all the units of the Indian Army across the county to maintain and document the records of all officers who are 10% over their ideal body weight.  These officials are going to have it hard as there are going to be spot-checks, surprise visits and looking through their records with a fine tooth comb.

Not that all Indian Army men are fat though, our jawans and the men on the frontlines are battle hardened machines of war but these fat, lazy officials who run these said wars without ever knowing what a soldier goes through, are the ones being targeted.

Even promotions are being held back as a part of this health drive by the Indian Army. The instructions clearly state that, “If an individual is found more than 10% beyond ideal body weight, records office will not issue promotion order till such time as the individual comes within laid down weight parameters”.

Non-combat streams of the Army will also be affected by this excellent rule. The army medical corps, defence security corps and the Territorial Army are also included in this ruling. The only exceptions to the rule will be soldiers who have received wounds or injuries in combat and sodliers with heavier bone density and muscle.

This is a great move by the Indian Army as they will finally have real, tough officers who will carry the flag of this country with pride and respect.
