We all knew that Bluetooth 5.0 was in the works and today, we know that it is just a month away when would see it on a smartphone. The Galaxy S8 will now be the first phone to have Bluetooth 5.0 on board which means it will have twice the speed and four times the range of Bluetooth 4.2.  

The upgraded version of Bluetooth will let you connect with smartwatches that will be more responsive and can be controlled from a greater distance. You will not be able to spot major differences but there are a few new capabilities that need to be pointed out. 

Bluetooth 5.0 will be able to maintain connections with devices that are up to 800 feet away from your smartphone. However, if you have thick walls between you and the connected devices, you can expect some lag. The latest iteration will also let the Galaxy S8 transmit/stream audio to two sets of Bluetooth speakers or headphones.

It also means that I won’t have to share my earphones with my annoying friends and instead we can listen to a song together on separate wireless earbuds. The volume of the two separate devices can also be adjusted independently. 

Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Nokia 8 and other phones slated to launch in 2017 are also expected to release with the newest form of Bluetooth wireless technology.
