Ajinkya Rahane Resembles A Rejected Extra From Dil Chahta Hai With His BreakTheBeard Look

It was the ever-stylish Ravindra Jadeja who started the '#BreakTheBeard' trend in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The Rajput boy was seen shedding his thick beard in favour of the '70s anchor' look to the much surprise of his fans and even Virat Kohli.

Since then, the trend has become a major hit amongst the IPL players. Following in the footsteps of Jadeja, Mumbai Indians cricketers Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma also trimmed their facial hair to unveil a new avatar.

On Monday, a surprise entry in the form of usually-reserved Ajinkya Rahane brought the trend back to life. The Indian vice-captain, who generally sports a stubble, revealed a clean-shaven look on the social media. And, we're not apologetic to say that Rahane has made a complete fool of himself with this one.

Don't get us wrong. Rahane is a great cricketer. He is arguably one of the most under-rated players in the Indian team despite some brilliant performances for his side. But, when it comes his new look, the Mumbai batsman seems to have played all around it.

Not only has he made it hard for us to take him seriously, but Rahane now resembles a rejected extra who was probably used for Aamir Khan's 'fish-eating' stunt in the cult classic - Dil Chahta hai.

For a man who is actually 28-years old, Rahane's new look might even force the Modi government to reconsider its legal drinking age. The only respite for Rahane, with his new look, is that the right-hander can now return to his old days and play in India's under-19 cricket team.

We all like to do things that are bad for us. Some of us eat too much. Others can't resist a tipple. Some men over the age of 30 insist on wearing skinny-fit jeans and carrying skateboards. But as the old adage goes, just because you can do something that doesn't mean you should.

In this case, Rahane - a down-to-earth cricketer and a great human being - just got it all wrong. His failure at the '#BreakThe Beard' challenge should also be a warning for the other IPL cricketers who are looking to join the bandwagon.

This is how our decent Ajinkya Rahane tried to be dashing and ruined his cute look!! Stop #BreakTheBeard guys!! Please no more!! pic.twitter.com/J6e6mIoSHl

For all we know, taking a challenge is one thing, but coming out on top is a completely different ball game.
