Even Anand Mahindra Doesn't Like Buying Extra Cables Proving Apple Has A Serious Issue

If you're completely relying on a particular ecosystem of products, you'd expect them to have easy connectivity options, at least among each other. While Apple has among the best in-sync mechanisms on the software end using iCloud and AirDrop, the company has some serious issues with hardware.

Anand Mahindra, CEO of Mahindra Group, bought himself an iPad Pro and realised a normal iPhone lightning connector no longer works with it. To charge the new tablet, a USB-C connection has been provided and you need to carry a separate connector for the device. This fact annoyed the Indian billionaire and he expressed his disappointment on Twitter.

In a tweet, Mahindra said that he will have to buy a new charger as well as earphone which will add to the list of accessories he needs to carry while travelling. The business tycoon added that this is why most people are sticking to the existing model of their device.

When Apple released the lightning connector in 2012, it was supposed to be the de facto option for devices like mobiles and tablets. Don't get us wrong, USB-C is equally advanced and in many cases even better thanks to compatibility with non-Apple devices. But, Apple has been pushing the new port very selectively, coercing users to carry two cables at a given point, one for the iPhone and one for the iPad.

If Apple is serious about pushing USB-C in all its devices, it should also upgrade the port on iPhone's. Over the years, Apple has been as frustrating as it is innovative, especially when it comes to changing chargers on its devices.

Apple also removed the MagSafe port from the Mac line-up and added a USB-C instead. This led to even more problems for the end user since the laptop completely eliminated USB-A, forcing users to depend on multiple dongles for SD cards, HDMI, and more.

Buying a new cable for an Apple device is also significantly expensive, leaving users with no option but to spend or perish. He also expressed unhappiness over the matter that the accessories like earphone for iPhone is also not compatible with iPad Pro.

When Apple removed the headphone jack from iPhones, it provided small lightning to 3.5mm dongle in the box. With the latest iPhones, even the dongle isn't available out of the box.

The point is, Apple is a premium brand should stop ignoring basic user requirements. While these actions are getting them some more cash in the short term, pissing off buyers is never a good idea in the longer run.
