Virender Sehwag & Team India Welcomed At Old Trafford By Manchester United

Virender Sehwag was one of the most destructive batsmen in the world at one point, and he put fear into the hearts of opening bowlers as he took his stance. Meanwhile, unknown to us all, he has also been a rabid Manchester United fan.

It surfaced recently that while Sehwag was part of the broadcast team that was covering the India vs Pakistan match at Old Trafford in Manchester, he also visited the historic stadium of one of the most famous clubs in the world.

Manchester United also welcomed a host of Indian players Dinesh Karthik, Vijay Shankar and Yuzvendra Chahal to their esteemed grounds before congratulating them for their 89-run (DLS) victory over famous rivals Pakistan.

Sehwag has amassed over 8,000 runs in Test and ODI Cricket and still boasts the highest score by an Indian in International Test Cricket, 319, which was also the number which he was presented by authorities at the club.

Through their website Manchester United quoted Sehwag in the buildup to the blockbuster match on Sunday, “Wherever the India or Pakistan fans are living, they're coming from there to Manchester to watch this game. It's a very big game. But if you look at the history, the record the Indian team has against Pakistan in World Cups, they've never lost. It's 6-0. So hopefully we can play well tomorrow and beat them again and make it 7-0. Maybe Cristiano will be happy, because that's his number!”

Given that Sehwag was particularly good in England with two Test centuries on the island, the gesture from the footballing giants and the collaboration between the two powerhouses of the sport was genuinely good to see.
