Yogi Govt Says No Mobile Ban In UP Colleges, Universities & We're Glad 'Balidan Nahi Dena Pada'

“Aaj khush toh bahut hoge tum, haiiin?”

Sorry, we couldn't help but throw that dialogue at you (all with Big B's iconic intonations and voice modulations for that added feel), for all the happy details we have to share!

As per the latest developments and a report by HT, it is being said that the Yogi Aditya government hasn't banned mobile phones in colleges and universities across Uttar Pradesh after all.

Last evening, following an update from IANS, we had reported that the Directorate of Higher Education in Uttar Pradesh had issued a circular which stated that no student or teacher will be allowed to carry or use mobile phones inside college and university premises.

However, another recent report from HT claims that the Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh Dinesh Sharma has denied any such developments, and stated that no such order of ban has been issued by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath or his government.

“Yes, the students are expected to keep their phones on silent or switch off mode during classes so that teaching is not disturbed. That order already exists,” Sharma said.

Even the Director of Higher Education in UP Dr Vandana Sharma has denied that any such order has been passed by her office. “No order has been issued by my office till date to ban cellphones in universities and degree colleges,” she told HT.

Whew! We are very happy for our UPwallah students because they will no longer have to suffer from any withdrawal symptoms now that it has been confirmed that no mobile phone ban exists in the first place.
