When you know a film is backed by names like Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Kangana Ranaut, you have an idea that the movie wonât disappoint you in any way because both the actor and director are masters of their crafts.
After giving powerful and meaningful movies like Nil Battey Sannata and Bareilly Ki Barfi, Ashwiny is back with one more layered story, Panga, that will strike a chord with you right from the beginning.

Amid the string of flaccid dramas and lifeless romances, Panga emerges as nothing but a breath of fresh air. Basically, the movie is about a woman who has abandoned her dreams for marriage and motherhood. Before you jump to any conclusions saying that she was forced to leave her dreams, itâs not the case here.
Panga beautifully narrates the most heartwarming story of a mother who dares to dream for herself again at a time when no one wants to put in that effort.

Kangana aka Jaya has the habit of kicking her husband, Jassie Gill aka Prashant, in her sleep which sets the background for the viewers that she has been a Kabaddi champion.
Kangana is shown to be a government employee who has a routine to follow that includes taking care of her son and her husband and ensuring their family is doing perfectly.

Thereâs one scene wherein Jaya gets late for work as she had to take her son to the hospital but she is given a sound telling-off by her boss. I am sure many of us would relate to this particular scenario.

The movie slowly and gradually transcends into how a mother, whoâs 32, and has a seven-year-old son is all set to make comeback on the field.
Ashwiny paints a positive and beautiful picture wherein both the husband and son are the ones to push her back to the sport she once loved.

Kangana manages to get back in the game but faces hardships as she lacks that fitness level that a seasoned athlete has and, obviously, you lose that as you age and don't take care of your body.
Ashwiny has taken care of this very minute detail as she didnât want any melodramatic appeal to the movie. She does want Jaya to make a comeback and have a heroic entry. The director, instead, has made sure that she shows things step-by-step to make the screenplay look relatable and natural.
Coming to performances, Kangana doesn't disappoint as she looks refreshing and simply powerful as Jaya. Jassie Gill has made his debut and not for a moment, do you feel that he isnât cut for the craft. His sense of humour only adds more to this sweet tale. But, the award goes to Yagya Bhasin aka Adi who plays the coupleâs son, who has his own way to emote and will make you adore him throughout the movie.

Richa Chadha and Neena Gupta have done a great job as the supporting cast. Megha Burman and Smita Tambe also deserve a special mention as they were just perfect as Kabaddi champions.

All mothers would surely relate to it because my mother was in complete tears sitting beside me while watching it.
