Record-Breaking Karnataka Jockeys Humble Reaction To Being Compared To Usain Bolt Wins Hearts

The best thing about the internet is that we get to see the special talent and achievements of people that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Recently, a Kambala jockey from Karnataka went viral and became an overnight sensation because he did the unexpected - he freaking broke a world-record set by Olympic track legend Usain Bolt.

Srinivasa Gowda not only covered 100 meters in just 9.55 seconds - Usain Bolt did that in 9.58 seconds, just FYI - but he also broke a thirty-year record in the history of the sport of Kambala.

But even after managing to achieve so much all at once, Srinivasa has remained nothing humble, while also dismissing the comparisons with Usain Bolt.

He said, "People are comparing me to Usain Bolt. He is a world champion, I am only running in a slushy paddy field."

Karnataka: Srinivasa Gowda from Mudbidri, Mangaluru ran 142.5 meters in 13.62 seconds at a buffalo race (Kambala) in a paddy field on Feb1 in Kadri. He says, "People are comparing me to Usain Bolt. He is a world champion, I am only running in a slushy paddy field". pic.twitter.com/tjq03M5m0C

But, doesn't that make it even more impressive? He managed to run that fast in a slushy field, which I imagine would act as a speed deterrent for sure.

He can be humble all he wants, but the country has seen how talented he is and people are probably not going to stop until he finally reaches where he belongs - the Olympics.

People online started campaigning for him as soon as his record-breaking news was out and all that tagging Kiren Rijiju in tweets worked out!

I'll call Karnataka's Srinivasa Gowda for trials by top SAI Coaches. There's lack of knowledge in masses about the standards of Olympics especially in athletics where ultimate human strength & endurance are surpassed. I'll ensure that no talents in India is left out untested. https://t.co/ohCLQ1YNK0

People have gained even more respect for him after his humble reply.

Hmm.

Agree and disagree, Usain is a superhuman, but if Mr Gowda even manages to get a medal at Asiads, it will be one hell of a discovery.

For sure.

That is what Indian culture is.
Always show their down to earth mentality.
I believe that your talent will help you to sit in the highest throne of success

â Subham (@subhsays) February 15, 2020

That's what I thought.

But isnât it more difficult to run in a paddy field as compared to a well maintained race track?

Hopefully, we'll get to know.

Curious to know what he would do on a track..... of course, a cold start will have a big impact on timings. https://t.co/y1YV2ocyxF

That's a great saying.

What is it they say? When youâre good you tell the world but when youâre extraordinary the world tells you #SrinivasaGowda #Kambala #Karnataka https://t.co/WkziApNlat

â Chitra Subramaniam (@chitraSD) February 15, 2020

For sure.

You are a true champion!@usainbolt - would be great if you could encourage this raw talent. https://t.co/PeYzVvug1Z

â Siddharth Zarabi (@szarabi) February 15, 2020

For sure.

Good that he knows the difference!! People and Media usually hype such things but then if this man works hard very hard he can be a champion. https://t.co/rBr5h9tsMx

â Mihir Jha âï¸ (@MihirkJha) February 15, 2020

He does.

He is a champion in thoughts as well.

You cannot have a strong body without a strong mind and he proves it https://t.co/BHwYHWNz4a
